Fear or faith, what do you choose? These are two basic responses to life. Fear leads to complaint. Faith leads to praise. Fear causes stumbling. Faith causes deliverance. Fear produces defeat. Faith produces victory. Fear leads to death. Faith leads to life. Fear focuses on self. Faith focuses on and exalts God.

When people attack and fight you with wicked and distorted words, what are you supposed to do? Instead of fear, trust in God and praise His word, counsel are repeated twice for added emphasis (Ps. 56:3-4,10-11).

How can you be sure God protects you? He writes down and collects every tear in a bottle because of enemies who seek your harm. His answers to prayer show He cares for you  (Ps. 56:8-9).

Because of God’s deliverance and concern for your welfare, how should you respond? Thank God for deliverance from death so you can walk before Him without stumbling (Ps. 56:12-13).

We know God delivers, but what are His qualifications that cause you take refuge in Him and not be afraid? God’s the Supreme and all-powerful person in all the universe. He accomplishes all things for you. No other god approaches His exalted status. God is love and truth in perfect balance. God is faithful in all He does in contrast to lions on earth who breathe fire with teeth containing spears and arrows and a sharp sword for a tongue (Ps. 57:1-4).

What is the significance in responding properly to God’s character and attributes? Exalt and glory in God who defeats foolish schemes on earth. By maintaining a steadfast heart in singing praises and thanking Him, you become a testimony of God’s love, truth and faithfulness to the world. People see in a tangible way how God is exalted above the heavens and earth (Ps. 57:5-11).

Instead of fear, have faith in God and praise His word.
