When I needed help to move, good neighbors were life savers. I couldn’t do it myself. Not only was their assistance appreciated, but the fellowship of friends lifted my spirit. Caregivers become Christ’s hands and feet to meet practical needs (Ps. 31).

A more fundamental burden that’s hard for us to admit is sin, whether it’s a single act violating God’s standards or more general rebellion against Him. Sin weighs you down with a heavy load. When a person experiences God’s forgiveness of sin, he or she feels encouraged and not condemned (Ps. 32:1-2).

Your body wastes away and vitality drained when you hide your sin from God (Ps. 32:3-5). By confessing your sin to God, He will forgive you. Furthermore, He provides you the grace to pray for protection and obtain deliverance in the midst of trouble (Ps. 32:6-7).

Not only do you gain freedom from sin and support, but God teaches and counsels you toward the right path. You gain discernment and understanding through His word (Ps. 32:8-9). The fruit of trusting in God’s word is lovingkindness, gladness and joy (Ps. 32:10-11).

Loving God and His word leads to a lifestyle of praise, righteousness and lovingkindness (Ps. 33:1-5). Standing in awe of God’s great power in creation allows Him to fulfill His plans in your life (Ps. 33:6-11).

When God leads your life,  you don’t put trust in government, human institutions, or individuals, but in Him. Only God understands you completely. He meets your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs, even in the midst of famine when your needs go unmet (Ps. 33:12-19).
As you wait and hope in God, He comes to your aid, often in the form of a good neighbor. When possible, He desires you to be a good neighbor and give to someone else (Ps. 33:20-22).  It’s better to give than to receive. At the same time, God wants you to admit your need so someone can receive the blessing of giving.

Confess any known sin in your life.
Praise God for His power and how He has blessed you. Trust God to lead you to a good neighbor to meet any of your needs. Be available as a good neighbor to someone else.
