Have things occured in your life that didn’t make any sense? It could be a divorce, job loss, accident, close friend who turned against you or other unexpected event that completely baffled you. Wouldn’t it be nice to have life run smoothly without any bumps along the way?
Certain events, especially the challenges we face in life, point us to the goodness of God. We must not forget them. God instructed Joshua to place 12 stones in middle of Jordan so their children could remember that the waters were cut off before the ark crossed the Jordan (Josh. 4:5-7). Just as the Lord exalted Joshua, He will exalt or promote us in the midst of baffling or tough circumstances for His glory, not our own (Josh. 4:14,24).
We need constant reminder of God’s power lest we forget. God works miracles so the world will fear Him. Seeking our own promotion leads nowhere. God performs magnificent acts to glorify Himself.
