“Whatever you do, wherever you live, if you belong to Jesus Christ, the call from heaven has come to you to the highest honour a human being can experience. The Son of God is spreading His love, His lifestyle, and His life-saving message across this planet and you know what? He has summoned you to join Him in His glorious Administration. Don’t settle for anything less” (Ron Hutchcraft). A great example of how to evangelize and be an ambassador in Christ is found in Acts 16.

Paul took Timothy and circumcised him because of the Jews since everyone knew his father was a Greek. As they passed through the cities, they delivered the decrees from the apostles and elders in Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in faith and increasing in number daily (Acts 16:1-5). The grace gospel of Christ strengthens peoples’ faith and causes new birth growth.

They were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia and the Spirit did not permit them to go into Bithynia. In Troas, a vision appeared to Paul of a man in Macedonia asking them to come and help. He immediately sought to go into Macedonia concluding God had called them to preach the gospel there (Acts 16:6-10). The Holy Spirit leads you to people to evangelize with the gospel of Christ.

The stayed for some time in Philippi, a leading city of Macedonia, a Roman colony. Outside the gate, they looked for place of prayer and spoke to the women assembled. Lydia, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, listened as the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul. After she and her household were baptized, they stayed in her house (Acts 16:11-15). Be available to people where you can share the gospel message.

A slave-girl with a spirit of divination brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. For many days, she cried out that Paul’s company were bond-servants of the Most High God. Paul commanded the spirit in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her (Acts 16:16-18). Pray in the name of Jesus Christ that He defeats opposition to the preaching of the gospel message.

With her master’s hope of profit gone, they dragged Paul and Silas into the marketplace before the authorities. They accused them of causing confusion in the city and proclaiming unlawful customs they could not accept as Romans. The authorities beat them with rods, threw them into prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns of praise to God with the prisoners listening. A great earthquake opened the prison house doors and unfastened everyone’s chains. Paul told the jailer not to kill himself who trembled with fear asking, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Telling he and his household to believe in the Lord Jesus to be saved, Paul spoke the word of the Lord to them. The jailer rejoiced greatly having believed in God with his whole household (Acts 16:19-34). Preach the gospel when God opens the door.

Paul demanded the chief magistrates to bring them out of prison since they as Roman citizens were beaten in public without trial. After the officials begged them to leave the city, they entered Lydia’s house and encouraged the brethren (Acts 16:35-40). Follow-up those who believe in Christ by teaching and encouraging them in the faith.
