The prime-time television game show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” took the nation by storm several years ago. One of the most dramatic segments was when a contestant used their lifelines. My favorite was a phone call to a friend asking for help in answering a question with the clock noisily ticking off seconds in the background. Each of us need lifelines to make it through daily life. Which one delivers, gets us on the right path or fulfills our need?

God is controller and owner of everything in the world. He sustains every living thing physically through rivers and seas (Ps. 24:1-2).

Not only physically, but God controls our spiritual lives. Only people with pure hearts expressed through humble prayer to God find true life (Ps. 24: 3-4). How often do we place hope in counterfeits like money, possessions and entertainment?  Even good things like friends and our church denomination becomes empty and vain if we rely on them for deliverance.

Blessings, welfare and prosperity come from God in answer to prayer (Ps. 24:5-6).  We become deceived if we believe anything besides seeking God enables us to find life.

The ultimate in life is our relationship with God so we experience the strong and mighty King of glory who fights our battles instead of relying on human resources (Ps. 24:8).  The Psalmist was so afraid we would miss this truth that he repeated King of glory five times between Ps. 24:7-10.

Renew yourself by committing yourself to 15 minutes of daily prayer in seeking God alone as your primary lifeline.
