I have seen God intervene in miraculous ways where the right person provided just what I needed at a critical time. I was unemployed and my wife met two ladies in the nursery who gave her a lead that led me into a new career. I have met people by “accident” who gave me an idea to solve a problem. I’ve seen God’s hand lead me to find breakthroughs on the internet to overcome obstacles. He provides miracles and deliverances when you ask for them to overcome the enemy of the world, flesh and devil.

Here is my prayer: God, don’t delay in helping me. Bring shame and humiliation to those who delight in my hurt. Turn them back because of their shame. Let everyone who seeks God and loves your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.” Since I am afflicted and needy, help and deliver me now (Ps. 70:1-5).

Let’s look at these five verses in a chiastic structure from the first through fifth verses: A; B; C; B’, A’.  We group together the content contained in A & A’; B & B’ and C. Here are my conclusions:
1. Let God be your help and deliverer now (A & A’).
2. Seek and magnify God continually in the midst of shame and humiliation (B & B’).
3. Let God turn back your persecutors (C).

Psalm 71 develops the theme of making God your refuge among the wicked in your motivation, process, goal, destiny and maturity.
Motivation in Making God Your Refuge Among the Wicked
God takes away shame. His righteousness enables you to ask boldly for deliverance. When you are afraid, remember that God is your rock. When you get discouraged, remember that God is your hope. When you feel insecure, remember that God is your confidence. When you grow weary, remember that God is your sustainer. These are the reasons why you should make God your refuge in rescuing you from the wicked (Ps. 71:1-6).

Process in Making God Your Refuge Among the Wicked
You are an example to others only when you know that God is your strong refuge by filling your mouth with God’s praise and glory all day long. In addition, ask for God to pursue and seize your enemies so you don’t lose His presence (Ps. 71:7-11).

Goal in Making God Your Refuge Among the Wicked
Ask God now to make your enemies ashamed, consumed, reproached and dishonored. Express your hope and praise continually as you tell of His righteousness and salvation all day long. You will see the mighty deeds of the Lord God (Ps. 71:12-16).

Destiny in Making God Your Refuge Among the Wicked
God has taught you to declare His miracles and power to the next generation. He will revive and increase your greatness in the midst of many troubles and distresses (Ps. 71:17-21).

Maturity in Making God Your Refuge Among the Wicked
Sing praise to God with the harp since He redeems your soul and delivers you from danger and bondage. Your tongue utters His righteousness all day long as you see God put your enemies to shame (Ps. 71:22-24).

Let’s look at these five paragraphs in a chiastic structure from the first through fifth paragraphs: A; B; C; B’, A’.  We group together the content contained in A & A’; B & B’ and C. Here are my conclusions:

1. God heals your soul from sin and bondage no matter how you feel (A & A’).
2. Stay in God’s presence by praising Him so you declare His miracles to the next generation (B & B’).
3. Watch closely for God’s mighty deeds or intervention in routing the enemy (C).

How has God healed your soul? How has God intervened in your life? What can you share with your children or younger generation concerning God’s mighty deeds in your life?
