How do you lead people toward wisdom? First, trust in God's plan to destroy evil; claim God's promises in His word through prayer; pray intensely expecting God to answer prayer for insight to overcome evil powers; and instruct people to know God, be wise and purified knowing He wins in the end.

Trust in God's Plan to Destroy Evil
In Daniel's dream, he saw a two-horned ram representing the Media and Persian kings charging in different directions doing as they pleased. A goat, king of Greece, with a large horn between his eyes, first king, struck the ram shattering his two horns, Media and Persian kings. The goat's horn broke off, king of Greece, and four other horns, four kingdoms emerging from Greece, grew up. Out of one came another horn, strong king who destroyed the holy people through deceit, grew in power to the south, east and toward the Beautiful Land. It reached the heavens throwing down the starry host to the earth, king grew strong through demonic power, and in rebellion took away the daily sacrifice and truth. The vision of the desolation of the sacrifice occurred for 2,300 days before the sanctuary was reconsecrated after the deceitful king was destroyed (Dan. 8:1-27). Trust in God's plan to destroy evil kingdoms.

Claim God's Promises Through Prayer
Daniel understood from Jeremiah in the Scriptures that the desolation of Jerusalem lasted 70 years. He turned to the great and covenant-keeping God of love in prayer, fasting and confession of sin. He admitted that they did not listen to the prophets. Because God was righteous, Judah, Jerusalem and Israel were covered with shame due to unfaithfulness. In spite of God's mercy and forgiveness, he knew they suffered curses written in the Law because of sin. They had not sought God's favor by turning from their sins and paying attention to His truth. Daniel asked the righteous God to turn away His wrath from Jerusalem that made His people an object of scorn. He asked God to hear his prayers, look with favor on His desolate sanctuary and forgive them because of His mercy (Dan. 9:1-19). Claim God's promises in Scripture through prayer and confession of sin.

Expect God to Answer Prayer for Insight
When Daniel began praying, Gabriel came to give him insight and understanding. A total of 490 years were decreed for His people and holy city to finish transgression, put an end to sin, atone for wickedness, bring in eternal righteousness, seal up the vision and prophesy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. From the issuing of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One came, there were 483 years.  After this period of time, the Anointed One would be cut off, ruler destroyed the city and sanctuary, end come like a flood, war continued until the end and desolations decreed. He confirmed a covenant for seven years but in the middle of that time, he ended sacrifice, caused desolation and placed abominations on the temple until being destroyed 3 1/2 years later (Dan. 9:20-27). Expect God to answer prayer for insight and understanding.

Pray Intensely Because Evil Powers Delay Answers
Daniel mourned and fasted for three weeks before seeing in a great vision a man dressed in linen with a belt of finest gold around his waist, face like lightning, eyes like flaming torches and arms, legs like the gleam of burnished bronze and voice like the sound of a multitude. From the first day he set his mind to gain understanding and humble himself before God, the man came. However, the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted him 21 days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, helped him, because the king of Persia detained him. He told Daniel to be strong and not fear since he was highly esteemed. He would soon fight against the prince of Persia before the prince of Greece came. He would tell Daniel what was written in the Book of Truth since only Michael, his prince, supported him against these evil powers (Dan. 10:1-21). Pray intensely with fasting because evil powers delay answers.

Instruct People in Knowing God and Purity
Three more kings would appear in Persia and then a fourth far richer stirred up everyone against Greece. A mighty king appeared and his empire was parceled out and given to others. Later the king of the North established himself in the Beautiful Land and made an alliance with the king of the South. After many battles the two kings' hearts bent on evil lied to each other, but the end would still come at the appointed time. At the right time, the king of the North invaded the South to desecrate the temple fortress, abolish the daily sacrifice and set up the abomination of desolation. His flattery corrupted those who violated the covenant, but the people who knew God firmly resisted him. The wise instructed many, but for a time they were captured or died. Some of the wise would stumble, but be refined, purified and made spotless until the end (Dan. 11:1-35). Instruct people in knowing God, resisting evil and purity during spiritual warfare.

Understand God Wins in the End
The king magnified himself above every god and said evil against the God of gods. He would be successful until the time of wrath was completed. He honored a god of fortresses with gold and silver. He attacked the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and greatly honored those who acknowledged him. He made them rulers over many people and distributed the land for a reward. At the time of the end, the king of the South fought the king of the North who extended his power over many countries before invading the Beautiful Land. Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon were delivered from his hand. He gained control of Egypt's riches with the Libyans and Nubians in submission. He pitched his royal tents between the seas at the beautiful holy mountain but came to an end with no one to help him (Dan. 11:36-45). Understand God wins in the end.

Lead People Toward Wisdom Who Shine Like Stars
Michael, the great prince who protected God's people, would arise during an unprecedented time of distress. Everyone whose name was written in the book were delivered. Multitudes awoke to eternal life or to shame and eternal contempt. The wise shone like the brightness of the heavens. Those who led many to righteousness like the stars forever. Daniel was commanded to seal the words of the scroll until the end of time when many traveled to increase knowledge. A man in linen above the waters said it would be 3 1/2 years for these things to be completed. Many would be purified, made spotless and refined but the wicked would continue to be wicked. Only the wise understood. There were 1,290 days from the time the daily sacrifice was abolished and the abomination that caused desolation was set up. Blessed was he who waited and reached the end of the 1,335 days. At the end of days, Daniel would receive his allotted inheritance (Dan. 12:1-13). Lead people toward wisdom and righteousness who shine like stars forever.

To lead people toward wisdom, do the following:
1. Trust in God's plan to destroy evil
2. Claim God's promises in His word through prayer
3. Expect God to answer prayer for insight and understanding
4. Pray intensely with fasting because evil powers delay answers
5. Instruct people in knowing God, resisting evil and purity during spiritual warfare
6. Understand God wins in the end
7. Lead people toward wisdom and righteousness who shine like stars forever

Seeing Prosperity and Influence (Insights in Psalms)

To see prosperity and influence, one must acknowledge God's reign, confess sins, exalt Him, humble yourself, trust His sovereignty and protection, and worship the King of Kings. Then God's kingdom will come in His time to remove prideful leaders and enable you to endure trials.

Acknowledge God's Reign and Confess Sins
Daniel revealed to Nebuchadnezzar in his dream that he was the large tree   in the middle of the land with abundant fruit where beasts found shelter. His dominion extended to the distant parts of the earth. The Most High issued a decree to drive Nebuchadnezzar away from people, be drenched with dew and given the mind of an animal to eat grass like cattle. Seven times would pass until he acknowledged the Most High as sovereign over men's kingdom given to whoever He wished.  The iron and bronze roots remaining in the ground represented his kingdom being restored when he acknowledged that Heaven ruled. Daniel told Nebuchadnezzar to renounce his sins by doing right and being kind to the oppressed so his prosperity would continue (Dan. 4:1-27). Acknowledge God's reign and confess sins for prosperity.

Exalt God and Humble Yourself
Twelve months later the king said his mighty power built the royal residence for his glory.  A voice from heaven said the dream would be fulfilled with his royal authority taken away. At the end of that time, God restored Nebuchadnezzar's sanity and returned the honor and splendor of his kingdom. God's dominion and kingdom endured across generations. Every person was regarded as nothing with God doing as He pleased. His advisers sought him out and restored his throne greater than before. Nebuchadnezzar praised, exalted and glorified the King of heaven because everything He did was right and His ways were just. He humbled those who walked in pride (Dan. 4:28-37). Exalt God and humble yourself for influence.

Trust God's Sovereignty to Remove Prideful Leaders
While Belshazzar gave a banquet for 1000 nobles, drank wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, a human hand wrote on the wall terrifying the king. Daniel said God gave his father Nebuchadnezzar a high position but when his heart became arrogant and prideful, he was stripped of his glory and lived with animals until he acknowledged Him as sovereign over the kingdoms of men. Because Belshazzar set himself against the Lord of heaven, the writing said God numbered the days of his reign, found wanting and his kingdom was given to the Medes and Persians. Daniel was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom. Belshazzar was killed and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom (Dan. 5:1-31). Trust God's sovereignty to remove prideful rulers.

Trust God's Protection to Endure Trials
Darius appointed Daniel as one of the three administrators over 120 satraps. Because he distinguished himself by his exceptional qualities, the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. No one could find corruption since he was trustworthy and not negligent. Even though a decree said no one could worship any god except the king, Daniel prayed three times a day with the windows opened toward Jerusalem. After being thrown in the lion's den, Darius called out anxiously to determine if Daniel's God was able to rescue him from the lions. He answered that the angels shut the lions' mouths finding no wound because he trusted in God. He threw the false accusers in the lions' den along with their wives and children. Darius issued a decree that everyone must fear the living God of Daniel whose kingdom and dominion never ended. He prospered during the reign of Darius and Cyrus the Persian (Dan. 6:1-28). Trust God's protection while enduring trials.

Worship King of Kings Whose Kingdom Continues Forever
In a dream, Daniel saw four great beasts. The first was like a lion with wings of an eagle, second like a bear with three ribs in its mouth, third like a leopard with four wings like a bird and four heads given authority to rule, and a fourth powerful beast with large iron teeth that devoured its victims along with ten horns. A little horn uprooted three of the first horns that spoke boastfully about the Ancient of Days sitting on His throne flaming with fire where countless number stood before Him and the books opened. The beast was killed and thrown into the blazing fire. Others were stripped of their authority but allowed to live for a period of time. One like the son of man approached the Ancient of Days and given authority, glory and sovereign power with men of every language worshiping him. His dominion would never be destroyed (Dan. 7:1-14). Worship King of Kings and Lord of Lords whose kingdom continues forever.

Expect God's Kingdom Coming to Earth in His Time
Daniel interpreted the four great beasts as four kingdoms rising from the earth. The saints of the Most High would possess the kingdom forever. He saw the horn waging war and defeating the saints until the Ancient of Days pronounced judgment in favor of the saints when the time came to possess the kingdom. The fourth beast was the fourth kingdom that devoured and crushed the earth. The ten horns were ten kings coming from this kingdom with one subduing three kings. He spoke against the Most High, oppressed His saints, tried to change laws and had saints handed over to him for 3 1/2 years. His power was destroyed and God's kingdom given to the saints eternally with every ruler worshiping and obeying Him (Dan. 7:15-28). Expect God's kingdom coming to earth in His time.

Pray for God's kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven to experience prosperity and influence.

Trust God During Crisis to Reap Benefits (Insights in Psalms)

Trusting God during temptations, crisis and stress reap benefits. By committing to purity, you reap greater learning and competence in your work. By asking God for wisdom and communicating with humility during a crisis, you reap promotion, provision and influence. By refusing to worship idols and trusting God during stressful circumstances, you see unbelievers praise God.

Commit to Purity and Reap Greater Competence
King Nebuchadnezzar carried off articles from God's temple to the temple of his god in Babylon. He brought young Israelites without defect showing aptitude for every kind so they could learn the language and literature of the Babylonians and be qualified to serve the king's palace after three years. Daniel resolved not to defile himself with royal food and wine. God caused the official to show favor, but was afraid he would look worse than other young men his age. After a ten-day test of vegetables and water, Daniel looked healthier and better nourished than the others who ate the royal food. God gave Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning before entering the king's service. The king found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in every matter of wisdom and understanding. Daniel also understood visions and dreams. He remained there until the first year of King Cyrus (Dan. 1:1-21). Commit to purity and reap greater learning and competence in your work.

Ask God for Wisdom During Crisis
Nebuchadnezzar threatened to kill the magicians and astrologers if they were unable to tell what he dreamt. After they said it was too difficult, Daniel spoke to Arioch, commander of the king's guard, with wisdom and tact asking why the king issued a harsh decree. Daniel went to the king and asked for time to interpret the dream. After Daniel explained the matter to his three friends, they prayed to God for mercy. During the night the mystery was revealed. Daniel praised God for His wisdom and power in setting up kings, removing them, giving wisdom to the wise, knowledge to the discerning, revealing deep and hidden things and knowing what lies in darkness. He praised Him for giving wisdom, power and making known the king's dream (Dan. 2:1-23). Ask God for wisdom and power during times of crisis.

Communicate God's Revelation with Humility to Unbelievers
Daniel told Arioch not to execute Babylon's wise men as he would interpret the dream to the king. Daniel said to the king that no wise man could explain the mystery except the God in heaven who revealed mysteries and future events to Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel did not take credit but said God wanted the king to know the dream's interpretation. The gold head was Nebuchadnezzar who ruled over all mankind and animals. After him, an inferior kingdom would
arise, next a bronze kingdom to rule over the earth and finally a fourth strong as iron to crush the others. The feet and toes consisted of baked clay and iron representing a divided kingdom with strong and brittle elements that would not remain united. God would set up a kingdom to crush and end all others, but would endure forever itself. It  represented the rock cut out of a mountain without human hands that broke to pieces the iron, bronze, clay, silver and gold (Dan. 2:24-45a). Communicate God's revelation with boldness, wisdom and humility to unbelievers.

Credit God for Wisdom Leading to Influence
After Daniel said the great God showed the king future events with a trustworthy interpretation, Nebuchadnezzar fell prostate before him, paid honor and ordered an offering and incense presented to Daniel. The king said that Daniel's god was God of gods, Lord of kings and revealer of mysteries. He placed Daniel in a high position, lavished many gifts, made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of the wise men. At Daniel's request, the king appointed his three friends adminstrators over the Babylon while he remained in the royal court (Dan. 2:45b-49). Credit God for wisdom and power leading to promotion, provision and influence.

Refuse Idol Worship While Trusting God During Stress
Nebuchadnezzar made a 90-foot-high gold image for everyone to worship, otherwise people were thrown into a blazing furnace. Some astrologers noticed Daniel's three friends not serving their gods or worshiping the gold image. Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego told the king they would not defend themselves as God could rescue them while inside the blazing furnace. Even if He did not, they would not serve Babylon's gods  or worship the gold image. The king was furious, ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter, commanded the three men to be tied and thrown in the furnace. The fire killed the men who carried them. The king saw four men walking in the fire unbound and unharmed with the fourth looking like the son of gods. The three men came out unharmed with no singing or scorching on their heads or robes and without smell of fire on them (Dan. 3:1-27). Refuse worshiping idols and trust God during stressful circumstances.

Watch Unbelievers Praise God Because of Believers' Sacrifice and Miracles
Nebuchadnezzar praised their God who sent His angel and rescued His servants. They trusted in Him, defied the king's command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own. The king decreed that anyone who said anything against their God would be killed since no other god could save in this way. The king promoted Shadrach, Meshacha and Abednego in Babylon (Dan. 3:28-30). Watch unbelievers praise God because of believers' sacrifice and related miracles.

How have you trusted God during a temptation, crisis or stressful circumstances? What was the benefit?
