To release God's healing for closer heart relationships between fathers and children, surrender your heart to teach whole Bible so you create desire for instruction, unified marriage, purified people, hate oppression, give financially to God's kingdom and expect God to write a scroll of remembrance.

Surrender Your Heart to Show God's Greatness
Malachi told Israel that God showed love by loving Jacob and hating Esau. He turned his mountains into a wasteland called The Wicked Land.  God continually demolished it to prove His greatness to Israel. They did not honor and respect God like a son to His father. The priests despised His name by sacrificing crippled or diseased animals on the altar they would not offer to their governor. God was displeased and found these useless fires unacceptable. They shamed and cheated Him by sacrificing blemished animals instead of offering acceptable males they vowed to give. Israel was to show nations that God was to be feared as a great king (Mal. 1:1-14). Surrender your heart to show God's greatness to unbelievers.

Teach Whole Bible to Create Desire for Instruction
If priests did not set their heart to listen or honor God, He sent a curse and cut off their descendants. He made a covenant of life and peace with Levi so they could reverence His name. True instruction was in his mouth as he walked in peace and uprightness turning many from sin. Priests should preserve knowledge so men would seek instruction from the messenger of the Lord Almighty. But they turned from the way, violated the covenant with Levi and their teaching caused many to stumble. God caused them to be despised and humiliated before everyone since they did not follow His ways showing partiality in matters of the law (Mal. 2:1-9). Teach whole Bible to turn people from sin and create desire for instruction.

Guard Your Spirit for Unified Marriage to Bear Godly Offspring
Judah broke faith with one another by marrying the daughter of a foreign god. God did not accept their offerings because they broke their marriage bond through divorce. He sought godly offspring from the one flesh relationship between husband and wife. Husbands who guarded their spirit prevented breaking faith with the wife of their youth since God hated divorce (Mal. 2:10-16). Guard your spirit for unified marriage to bear godly offspring.

Participate with God to Purify His People and Hate Oppression
They wearied Him saying those who did evil were pleasing to Him and questioning whether there was a God of justice. No one could stand the refiner's fire of God's coming as He purified the Levites like gold and silver. Judah's and Jerusalem's righteous offerings would be acceptable. God would judge sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers. He was against those who defrauded laborers of their wages, oppressed the widows and fatherless, and deprived aliens of justice without fearing God (Mal. 2:17-3:5). Participate with God to purify His people and hate oppression of others.

Give Financially to God's Kingdom and Reap His Blessing
His people should return to God and His word so He would return to them. He cursed Israel because they robbed Him of tithes and offerings. Bringing the whole tithe into the storehouse brought food into His house. By testing Him, they saw Him open the floodgates of heaven to pour out so much blessing that there was no room for it. He prevented pests from devouring crops and fruit from their  fields. All nations called them blessed in a delightful land (Mal. 3:6-12). Give financially to God's kingdom and reap His blessing.

Expect God to Write a Scroll of Remembrance By Fearing Him
Israel said it was futile to serve God since evildoers prospered and those who challenged God escaped. The Lord listened and wrote a scroll of remembrance for people who feared Him and talked with each other. He distinguished between those who served God as His treasured possession and those who did not (Mal. 3:13-18). Expect God to write a scroll of remembrance by fearing Him.

Release God's Healing for Closer Heart Relationships Between Fathers and Children
A day would come to burn the arrogant and every evildoer. For those who revered God's name, the sun of righteousness would rise with healing so they leaped like calves released from the stall. They trampled down the wicked like ashes under their feet. Malachi commanded Israel to remember the law God gave Moses at Horeb. He would send Elijah before the dreadful day of the Lord to turn the hearts of fathers to their children and hearts of children to their fathers or else curse the land (Mal. 4:1-6). Release God's healing for closer heart relationships between fathers and children.

To release God's healing for closer heart relationships between fathers and children:
1. Surrender your heart to teach whole Bible
2. Turn people from sin
3. Create desire for instruction
4. Guard your spirit for unified marriage
5. Bear godly children
6. Participate with God to purify His people
7. Hate oppression of others
8. Give financially to God's kingdom and reap His blessings
9. Expect God to write a scroll of remembrance

How God Transforms and Multiplies Disciples (Insights in Prophets)

11/11/2012

"All of us have wondered at times why God doesn't do more to fix our problems. But our human eyes often fail to see that God isn't rushing to change our circumstances because he is concerned with a much more serious problem - our character. While you struggle with the woes of this world, God's main occupation is preparing you for the world to come. The focus of what God is doing in your life takes place in you, not around you" (Andy Stanley).

God transforms and multiplies disciples by removing obstacles, bringing righteousness and strength, setting captives free, destroying wrong thinking, refining His people and leading people in the right way. Through this process, people experience peace leading to multiplied disciples.

God Transforms People

God told His servant Jacob whom He chose and helped to not fear since He poured water on thirsty land and streams on dry ground. He poured out His Spirit and blessing so His descendants understood they belonged  to Him. Israel was His witness to proclaim that there was no other God or Rock than Him.  Those who made idols were blind, ignorant and shameful. The idols they treasured were worthless. Craftsmen, blacksmiths and carpenters shaped idols in the form of man in all his glory to worship them as their god. They misunderstood that a block of wood could not save them. Their heart lied to them since they could not save themselves. Israel must return to God since He redeemed and swept away their sins like a morning mist. He displayed His glory through creation. God overthrew false prophets and the learning of the wise. He fulfilled His servants' predictions. God restored the ruins in Jerusalem and Judah. He directed Cyrus as His shepherd to rebuild Jerusalem and lay the foundations of the temple (Is. 44:1-28). God displays His glory in transforming people by revealing the worthlessness of idols.

God Removes Obstacles
God used Cyrus to subdue nations and open doors. God went before Israel to level mountains, break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. He gave them riches stored in secret places so they would know the true Lord. He called them by name, bestowed a title of honor and strengthened them even though they did not acknowledge God. He showed the whole earth that there was no other god except the Lord who formed light, created darkness, brought prosperity and created disaster. God rained down righteousness so salvation would spring up. The clay cannot say to the potter, "What are you making?" or to his parents, "What have you brought to birth?" God made the earth and created mankind upon it. He raised up Cyrus to rebuild Jerusalem and set His exiles free. The products of Egypt and merchandise of Cush would be theirs when people saw God was with them. The makers of idols were shamed and disgraced, but Israel would have eternal salvation without shame or disgrace (Is. 45:1-17). God removes obstacles and opens doors in providing financial resources so the world can be saved.

God Brings Righteousness and Strength
God created the heavens and earth to be inhabited. He did not want Jacob's descendants to seek Him in vain. The righteous God and Savior called the earth to turn to Him and be saved. Every knee and tongue would bow saying that in the Lord alone was righteousness and strength. Everyone who raged against Him would be shamed, but in the Lord all Israel's descendants were found righteous and exulted (Is. 45:18-25). God enables His disciples to seek Him for  righteousness and strength.

God Sets Captives Free
The idols of Babylon, Bel and Nebo, were unable to rescue them from the weary burden and captivity to sin. God carried, sustained and rescued Israel from birth through old age. Comparing God to riches was futile since it could not save them from their troubles. He used men to fulfill His purpose planned from the beginning of time. His righteousness was near and would not be delayed as He granted salvation and splendor to Israel (Is. 46:1-13). God works through His people to set captives free from sin.

God Destroys Wrong Thinking
Babylon would no longer be called tender, delicate or the queen of kingdoms.  God took vengeance, exposed her nakedness and uncovered her shame. He was angry with His people and gave them into Babylon's hand. They showed no mercy with Israel and even laid a heavy yoke on the aged. Babylon lounged in security not knowing that widowhood and loss of children would occur on a single day. They trusted in wickedness and were misled in their wisdom, knowledge, self-sufficiency, magic spells and sorceries. Wrong counsel wore them out. They could not, along with anyone else, save themselves from the power of the flame (Is. 47:1-15). God exposes and destroys wrong thinking and self-sufficiency.

God Refines His People
Israel invoked God's name without truth and righteousness.
They called themselves citizens of the holy city but were stubborn like a bronze forehead. God announced new things before they happened so they could not say their idols ordained them. He tested and refined them in the furnace of affliction for His own name's sake. The Lord's chosen ally carried out His purpose against Babylon that God made successful (Is. 48:1-15). God tests and refines His people in the furnace of affliction for His name's sake.

God Leads People In Right Way
God taught Israel what was best and directed them in the way they should go. Their peace would be like a river and righteousness like the waves of the sea if they listened to His commands. Their descendants would be like sand and their name maintained before God. Announce their flight from Babylon with shouts of joy saying the Lord redeemed His servant Jacob. God led Israel and made water flow from the rock in the deserts. There was no peace for the wicked (Is. 48:16-22). God leads His people in the right way to experience peace and multiply disciples.

Ask God to transform and multiply disciples among yourself, family members and friends through the following process:
1. God reveals His glory by revealing the worthlessness of idols
2. God removes obstacles and opens doors in providing financial resources so the world can be saved
3.  God enables His disciples to seek Him for  righteousness and strength
4. God works through His people to set captives free from sin
5. God exposes and destroys wrong thinking and self-sufficiency
6. God tests and refines His people in the furnace of affliction for His name's sake
7. God leads His people in the right way to experience peace and multiply disciples

Benefits of Holiness (Insights in Law)

11/10/2012

Picture
"I've discovered I cannot fight the demons of busyness directly. I cannot continuously say "No" to this or "No" to that, unless there is something ten times more attractive to choose. Saying "No" to my lust, my greed, my needs, and the world's powers takes an enormous amount of energy. The only hope is to find something so obviously real and attractive that I can devote all my energies to saying "Yes." In effect, I don't have time to pay any attention to the distractions"  (Henri J. M. Nouwen).

Holiness affects every part of your life to help you live skillfully. Other benefits of holiness include power to defeat spiritual enemies, gain God's blessings, prevent divorce, freed from bondage to sin, live long, forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses.

Defeat Spiritual Enemies
No one with his male organ cut off or a forbidden marriage, including descendants to the tenth generation, could enter the assembly of Lord. No Ammonite or Moabite could enter assembly of Lord to the tenth generation, because they did not meet Israel with food and water when they came out of Egypt, but hired Balaam to curse them. The Lord did not listen to Balaam, but turned his curse into blessing because of His love. They could not seek their peace or have good relations with them. Do not detest an Edomite or Egyptian since they were brothers and lived as aliens in their country. The sons of the third generation could enter the assembly of the Lord. Avoid evil things as Israel’s army faced its enemies. An unclean man went outside the camp and when evening came, he bathed and removed waste. Because God walked with them to defeat their enemies, they were holy and prevented indecency so He would not turn away from them (Deut. 23:1-14). Maintain physical and spiritual holiness so God’s power can defeat your spiritual enemies.

Gain God's Blessings
Do not mistreat a slave who escaped from his master, but let him live where he wanted. No children could be a cult prostitute or bring their wages into the house of the Lord to pay a vow. Do not charge brothers interest so God could bless them in the land they would possess. Pay vows made to the Lord and not be guilty of sin. They could eat grapes from a neighbor’s vineyard, but not carry them away (Deut. 23:15-25). Pursue sexual purity, fulfill verbal promises and treat people fairly in financial matters to gain God's blessings.

Prevent Divorce
If a man found his wife displeasing and then divorced her so she married someone else, the first husband could not take her as his wife since it was sinful. A man was exempt from military duty during his first year of marriage so he could stay home and bring happiness to his wife (Deut. 24:1-5). Spend extra time with your wife in the first year to build a strong marital foundation and prevent divorce.

Freed From Bondage to Sin
Refuse an upper millstone as pledge for a debt since it took a man’s livelihood as security. If a man kidnapped an Israelite who was treated as a slave or sold, the kidnapper must die to purge away evil. Follow carefully what Levitical priests instructed concerning leprous diseases while remembering what God did to Miriam coming out of Egypt. Show patience in collecting loans from a poor neighbor by allowing him to sleep in his cloak leading to thanks for this righteous act in God’s sight. Do not take advantage of a needy Israelite or alien servant, but pay his wages daily and not be guilty of sin. Fathers did not die for their sons nor sons for their fathers since each would die for their own sin. Leave some grain during harvest and do not deprive the alien, fatherless or widow by taking their cloak as pledge to remember how God redeemed them from slavery in Egypt (Deut. 24:6-22). Be financially kind to the needy and stress personal accountability since God freed you from the bondage of sin.

Live Long

Judges decided a dispute in court acquitting the innocent and condemning the wicked in proportion to his guilt. Do not muzzle an ox while he was threshing. The wife of a deceased brother living together would marry his brother to fulfill his duty and carry on the name of his dead brother. If a wife seized the private parts of a man struggling with her husband, cut off her hand and not show pity. Have accurate and honest weights or measures to live long in the land God gave since He hated dishonesty (Deut. 25:1-16). Use accurate and fair guidelines to decide court verdicts, set wages, show considerations toward extended family and determine pricing of goods and services to live long.

Forget Bad Memories and Overcome Weaknesses

Remember what Amalek did when they attacked the Israelites who lagged behind after leaving Egypt. Amalek showed they lacked the fear of God. After the Lord gave rest from their enemies, they blotted out the memory of the Amaleks (Deut. 25:17-19). Spiritual victory and strength enables you to forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses.

Which of the following benefits of holiness are most meaning to you right now: power to defeat spiritual enemies, gain God's blessings, prevent divorce, freed from bondage to sin, live long, forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses?

Live With Purpose So You Receive Eternal Reward (Insights in NT)

People spend much time in training to be an expert in sports, business or particular hobby. They do it to win a championship, receive a pay raise/ greater position, or award. These rewards are temporary. God has a better idea. He wants you to gain an imperishable wreath like winning the Olympic games, except it impacts you throughout eternity. How can you live with purpose and discipline so you can receive this eternal reward?

Exercise Freedom in Christ if Action Does Not Violate Biblical Command
Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. Thinking that one knew something was not the same as really knowing it. Those loved by God were known by Him. Do not be concerned about eating food sacrificed to idols since through God all things came into being. Those with a weak conscience became defiled when they ate food sacrificed to idols not knowing that food did not bring them closer to or farther away from God (I Cor. 8:1-8). Exercise your freedom in Christ as long as action does not violate a biblical command.

Restrict Freedom in Christ if Action Causes Weaker Brother to Sin
A person cannot allow their freedom to become a stumbling block to the weak. It became sin against Christ if someone with a weak conscience was encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols after seeing a brother eating in an idol's temple. This action destroyed and wounded the weak brother's conscience when they saw the strong eating. Do not eat meat if it caused your brother to fall into sin (1 Cor. 8:9-13). Restrict your freedom in Christ if an action causes a weaker brother to sin.

Refuse Financial Support if Hinders Spread of the Gospel Among Your Ministry Target
Seeing Jesus and developing the church in Corinthian qualified Paul to be an apostle among them in the Lord. He did not exercise his freedom to take a wife or receive financial support even though he sowed spiritual seed among them. The Law said to not muzzle an ox while it tread grain. The plowman ought to share in the harvest.  Paul did not want to hinder the gospel of Christ even though the Lord commanded those who preached the gospel to receive their living from it. God compelled Paul to preach the gospel out of obedience to Him. Volunteers could receive a reward but Paul discharged the trust committed to him. His reward was to preach the gospel free of charge without asserting his right for financial support (1 Cor. 9:1-18). Refuse financial support if it hinders the spread of the gospel of Christ among those whom you minister.

 Determine Target Audience of Church
Paul made himself a slave to everyone. His purpose was to win as many as possible. He became a Jew to win them. He became like those under the Law, to win them. He became like those not having the Law, to win them. To the weak, he became weak to win them. He became all things to all men so by all possible means he might save some. He did this for the sake of the gospel so he could share in its blessings (1 Cor. 9:19-23). Become like your target audience that you seek to reach with the gospel.

Pursue Godly Discipline to Earn Eternal Reward
Pursue strict training to run the race in order to receive the prize of an eternal crown. Do not run aimlessly or fight like a man beating the air. Make your body a slave so after you preach to others, you would not be disqualified for the prize (1 Cor. 9:24-27). Discipline yourself to live godly with purpose so you win an eternal reward.

Study Full Counsel of God to Resist Temptations
Israel was baptized into Moses in the cloud and the sea when they drank from the spiritual rock that was Christ. God was displeased with most of them as they were scattered in the wilderness. These things occurred as examples to prevent future generations from setting their hearts on evil things. Refuse idolatry like those who indulged in pagan revelry, sexual immorality where 23,000 died in one day, testing the Lord where some were killed by snakes, grumbling where some were killed by the destroying angel. These warnings were written down upon whom the end of the ages have come. If you think you were standing firm, be careful you don't fall. No temptation seized you except what was common to man. God was faithful to not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. He provided a way out so you could bear it. Flee idolatry. Drinking the cup and eating the bread at the Lord's table signified participation in Christ's blood and body. In contrast, the pagans' sacrifices were offered to demons, not God. One cannot partake in the Lord's table and table of demons (1 Cor. 10:1-22).  Study all of Scripture to learn how to resist various kinds of temptations through your relationship with Christ.

Determine Effective Discipleship Process
Even though everything was permissible, not everything was beneficial and constructive. Each one should seek the good of others, not his own. Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience since God owns everything. If an unbeliever invited you to a meal, eat without a guilty conscience. If you learn that meat was offered in sacrifice, do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you and the other man's conscience. Do everything for the glory of God, but do not cause anyone to stumble in the church of God. Seek the good of many, not your own so they may be saved (1 Cor. 10:23-33). Seek what is beneficial and constructive for the glory of God so others may be saved.

How to live with purpose and discipline so you receive an eternal reward (imperishable wreath):
1. Exercise your freedom in Christ as long as action does not violate a biblical command
2. Restrict your freedom in Christ if an action causes a weaker brother to sin
3. Restrict your right to receive financial support if it hinders the spread of the gospel of Christ among those whom you minister
4. Become like your target audience that you seek to reach with the gospel
5. Study the Old Testament to learn how to resist various kinds of temptations through your relationship with Christ
6. Seek what is beneficial and constructive for the glory of God so others may be saved

Praising God Develops Your Character and Ministry (Insights in Prophets)

10/1/2012

Picture
"Character is not built by battling and excitement alone. The harvest is not ripened by the thunderous forces of nature, but by the secret silent invisible forces. So the best qualities of our spiritual lives are matured by quietness, silence and commonplace " (A. P. Gouthey).

God matures you spiritually as He opens a door of ministry that no one can shut. Depend on God to develop your character as you trust Him for open doors and provision for ministry by praising His reign, wonderful working and complete healing. Praising God develops your character and ministry.

Depend on God to Prevent Destruction and Enslavement
The slain were not killed by the sword and did not die in battle. Leaders fled together and captured as prisoners while the enemy was far away. Isaiah wept bitterly over the destruction of God's people. The defenses of Judah were stripped away with many breaches in the City of David. They tore down houses to strengthen the wall but had not considered or regarded the One who made and planned it long ago (Is. 22:1-11). Depend on God so He does not destroy and enslave His people.

Repent of Sin to Experience Forgiveness and Not Waste Time in Pleasure
The Lord Almighty called you to weep and put on sackcloth but there was joy, revelry and drinking of wine instead. "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die." This sin would not be forgiven until you died, said the Lord (Is. 22:12-14). Repent of your sin so you experience forgiveness and not waste time in pleasure.

Trust God to Open Doors of Kingdom Ministry
God would throw them tightly like a ball into a large country where they would die. He would dispose them from their office and oust them from their position. God put a robe on Eliakim and handed their authority over to him as a father for those in Jerusalem and Judah. God placed on his shoulder the key to the house of David, What he opened no one could shut and what he shut no one could open. He would be a seat of honor for the house of his father with glory of his family hanging on him. The peg driven in the firm place would give way and the load hanging on it would be cut down (Is. 22:15-25). Trust God to open doors of kingdom ministry and authority that no one can shut.

Support Kingdom Ministries by God Redirecting Money
Tyre, the nations' marketplace, was destroyed so ships from Tarshish had no harbor to enter. Without ships, the renowned traders' pride were humbled as the Lord planned. The Lord gave an order to destroy the fortresses of Phoenicia and crush Sidon's merchants enriched by  seafarers. The Assyrians turned the land of Babylonians into a ruin. The fortress of the ships of Tarshish was destroyed and forgotten for 70 years. Then she applied her trade with all the kingdoms of the earth so her earnings would be set apart for the Lord and not hoarded. Her profits would provide food and fine clothes for those who live before the Lord (Is. 23:1-18). Support kingdom ministries by God redirecting profits and earnings.

Praise God's Power to Reign by Destroying Kings and Cursing Disobedient
The Lord will totally ruin the earth, scatter all its inhabitants and languish the exalted. The earth is defiled by its people when they disobey laws and break the covenant.
A curse consumed the earth and its people bore their guilt. The vine withered and parties stopped. The ruined city lied desolate and joy turned to gloom. They raised their voices and acclaimed the Lord's majesty while giving glory and exalting the Lord's name. Terror and snares awaited the people of the earth. God will punish the powers in the heavens and kings would be shut up in prison. The Lord Almighty reigns in Jerusalem (Is. 24:1-23). Praise God's power to reign over the earth by destroying kings and cursing the disobedient.

Praise God's Wonders as Refuge for Needy in Distress
Isaiah praised God's name for His perfect faithfulness in working wonders planned long ago. He was a refuge for the poor and needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. God stopped the ruthless (Is. 25:1-5).
Praise God's faithfulness in working wonders as refuge for the needy in their distress.

Praise God's Abundant Provision for Complete Emotional and Spiritual Healing
The Lord prepared a feast of rich food with the finest of wines for all people. He destroyed the shroud that enfolded all peoples. He will swallow up death forever, wipe away tears and remove the disgrace of His people from the earth when they trusted in Him for salvation. God brought down the pride and cleverness of of Moab just like He will do with your high fortified walls (Is. 25:6-12). Praise God's abundant provision for complete emotional and spiritual healing.

Consider how God works to develop your character and ministry:
1. Depend on God.
2. Repent of sin.
3. Open doors for ministry.
4. Support of your ministry.

5. Praise God's reign.
6. Praise God's wonders.
7. Praise God's healing.

Righteous Speech Produces Blessings (Insights in Psalms)

6/11/2012

Picture
Seven Modern Sins:
1.  Politics without principles
2.  Pleasures without conscience
3.  Wealth without work
4.  Knowledge without character
5.  Industry without morality
6.  Science without humanity
7.  Worship without sacrifice (Canon Frederic Donaldson). Proverbs 17 explains how righteous speech produces blessings in all areas of life.

Righteousness Produces Holistic Riches
Righteous character and wisdom trumps riches and strife because they produce quietness, vocational responsibilities and financial provision  (Prov. 17:1-3). Righteous character produces personal, vocational and financial blessings.

Wickedness Produces Perverse Speech
Wicked character and speech has the following characteristics:
1.  Listens to wicked lips and falsehood
2.  Mocks the poor
3.  Rejoices at calamity
4.  Lying speech
5.  Takes bribes
6.  Repeats a matter to hurt friendships
7.  Returns evil for good
8.  Justifies the wicked and condemns the righteous
9.  No sense
10. Co-signs loans
11.  Loves transgression and strife
12. Perverts language and crooked mind
13. Perverts way of justice (Prov. 17:4-5,7-9,13,15-16,18-20,23). The wicked lies, loves transgression and perverts language.

Righteousness Produces Family Riches
Grandchildren are the crown of old men. The glory of sons is their fathers. In contrast, the father of a fool has grief and no joy. The mother of a fool has bitterness (Prov. 17:21,25). Fathers are the glory of sons while grandchildren are the crown of old men.

Righteousness Produces Measured Speech

Righteous character and speech have the following characteristics:
1.  Covers a transgression seeks love
2.  Rebukes understanding man
3.  Abandons a quarrel before it breaks out
4.  Friend loves at all time
5.  Brother is born for adversity
6.  Joyful heart is good medicine
7.  Wisdom
8.  Understanding
9.  Restrains words have knowledge
10. Cool spirit has understanding
11. Closes lips is prudent (Prov. 17:9-10,14,17,22,24,27-28). The righteous covers a transgression, abandons a quarrel and restrains words.

Examine your character:
1. Do you watch what you say?
2. Do you cover a transgression, abandon a quarrel and restrain your words?
3. Do you prioritize your job as a father or grandfather, mother or grandmother?
4. Do you see God's blessings in your personal, vocation and financial life?
