If someone would come up to them and ask, “How are things going? I really want to know,” they probably would respond, “Things are going fine.”
The world screams that image is everything, get all the gusto you can since we go around only once. Just, "do it"! As we saw in the last post from Joshua 1, God has a better plan. He wants us to meditate on His word day and night (Psalm 1:2-3).
The world is at war against us. Authorities reinforce image and appearance by seizing absolute power. Even managers working for a company may abuse employees in their stand against the Lord (Psalm 2:2-3).
We go against the grain of image and appearance by worshipping and praying in Christ’s name so we can accomplish God's will on earth (Psalm 2:8,11-12).
Focusing on our image leads to a superficial life, but meditating on God’s word promotes stability and fruitfulness. Prayer emphasizing Christ’s work on the cross reproduces the seed of godliness in those we touch. When God’s church unites in prayer, Satan’s schemes fail. We honor Christ by submitting to His rulership in our sphere of influence.
Write down your daily plan to overcome forces that pull you or those around you away from Christ.
