When Christ is your leader, you will unite as sons of the living God, speak tenderly to restore intimacy with God, love His people sacrificially so they seek redemption in Christ's blood, follow God's word to gain knowledge and understanding, admit guilt and seek Him for revival, expose your sin so you cry to Him for healing and seek God's approval for your actions to prevent futility.

Unite as Sons of the Living God
God told Hosea to take an adulterous wife because the land departed from the Lord. He married Gomer and she bore Jezreel (end kingdom of Israel), Lo-Ruhamah (not love Israel) and Lo-Ammi (not My people). Israel and Judah would be reunited as the sons of the living God with one leader (Hosea 1:1-11). Unite as sons of the living God.

Speak Tenderly to Restore Righteousness, Love and Intimacy with God
Rebuke Israel since she was not God's wife because of adultery and unfaithfulness. He made her like a desert, killed her with thirst and did not show His love to her children conceived in disgrace. God blocked her path with thornbushes and could not find her lovers that provided food, water and oil. She did not acknowledge that God gave her grain, new wine and oil along with gold and silver used for Baal. He exposed her lewdness before her lovers  and stopped all her appointed feasts. He ruined her vines and fig trees to pay for her lovers. God allured, led and spoke tenderly to her in the desert. He gave back her vineyards as a door of hope where she would call Him, 'my husband.' He removed the names of the Baals from her lips so they could lie down in safety with the animals. He betrothed them in righteousness, justice, love, compassion and faithfulness to acknowledge the Lord. God planted them in the land to say, 'You are my God.' (Hosea 2:1-23). Speak tenderly to restore righteousness, love and faithfulness for an intimate relationship with God in the body of Christ.

Love God's People Sacrificially So They Seek Redemption in Christ's Blood
The Lord told Hosea to love his adulterous wife like God loved the Israelites who turned to other gods. He bought her for 15 shekels of silver and ten bushels of barley to live purely with him to signify Israel without king, sacrifice, sacred stones, ephod or idol. Later the Israelites sought the Lord and David their king. They would come trembling to the Lord and His blessings in the last days (Hosea 3:1-5). Love God's people sacrificially so they seek redemption in Christ's blood.

Follow God's Word to Gain Knowledge, Understanding and Glory from Him
God said Israel had no faithfulness, no love and no acknowledgment of Him in the land. With cursing, lying, murder, stealing and adultery, the land mourned, people wasted away and were destroyed from lack of knowledge. By rejecting it, God rejected them as His priests. By ignoring God's law, He ignored their children. By sinning, priests exchanged their Glory for something disgraceful. Prostitution, idolatry, adultery, drinking and deserting God removed understanding, led them astray and caused ruin. Rulers loved shameful ways (Hosea 4:1-19). Follow God's word to gain knowledge, understanding and glory from Him.

Admit Guilt and Seek God for Revival
God disciplined the rebels from corrupt deeds that turned them away from Him. A spirit of  prostitution was in their heart by not acknowledging the Lord. Arrogance prevented them from finding God. Ephraim was oppressed, judged and pursued idols. She turned to Assyria for help but was unable to heal her sores. God was like a lion tearing Ephraim and Judah to pieces. In misery, they admitted their guilt and earnestly sought His face. By returning to God, He healed, bound up their wounds, revived them after two days and restored so they could live in His presence. God appeared like the spring rains that water the earth when they sought to know Him.  He desired mercy, not sacrifice and acknowledgment of God, instead of burnt offerings. They broke the covenant in unfaithfulness, murder and prostitution. A harvest was appointed when He restored the fortunes of His people (Hosea 5:1-6:11).
Admit guilt and earnestly seek God for revival, restoration, mercy and intimacy.

Expose Your Sin So You Cry Out to God for Healing
Before healing could take place, sins of deceit, lying, adultery, drinking, mocking anger and prayerlessness must be exposed and revealed. Ephraim mixing with the nations sapped his strength without realizing it. Israel's arrogance prevented him from returning to the Lord. Ephraim was easily deceived while turning to Egypt and Assyria before being destroyed. They spoke lies against God and did not cry out to Him from their hearts. He trained and strengthened them but they plotted evil against God. Their leaders fell by the sword because of insolent words (Hosea 7:1-16). Expose your sin so you cry out to God for healing, training and strengthening.

Seek God's Approval for Your Actions to Prevent Futility
Israel rejected what was good. They set up kings and chose princes without God's approval. They made idols for themselves from silver and gold to their own destruction. They sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind. Ephraim's sin offerings became altars for sinning. They regarded the law as something alien. Because the Lord was not pleased with their sacrifices, He punished their sins. Israel forgot his Maker and God sent fire to consume their fortresses (Hosea 8:1-14). Seek God's approval for your actions to prevent futility.

When Christ is your leader, you will:
1. Unite as sons of the living God
2. Speak tenderly to restore intimacy with God

3. Love His people sacrificially to seek redemption
4. Follow God's word to gain knowledge and understanding
5. Admit guilt and seek Him for revival
6. Expose your sin so you cry to Him for healing
7. Seek God's approval for your actions

Choose Spiritual Leaders Who Practice and Teach God's Word (Insights in Prophets)

The following describe how to choose spiritual leaders who practice and teach God's word:
1. Follow God's Word to form an intimate relationship with Him as you surrender and confess your sins daily to God
2. Experience God's glory as you pray together to bear fruit-bearing disciples that heal people in all nations through the Holy Spirit
3. Follow God's word in organizing how the body of Christ prays together to let Christ have first place in the church and city

Follow God's Word in Organizing How the Body of Christ Prays Together
Ezekiel saw a wall surrounding the temple area. A man measured from the east gate to the outer court including the wall; threshold of the gate; alcoves for the guard; portico, width of the entrance and projecting walls inside the gateway. He measured the outer court from the inside of the lower gateway to the outside of the inner court. He measured the north gate, south gate and gates to the inner court. In the portico of the gateway contained two tables where burnt, sin, and guilt offerings were slaughtered. Outside the inner gate within the inner court were two rooms for Levites, sons of Zadok, in charge of the temple and altar (Ezek. 40:1-47). Follow God's word in organizing how the body of Christ prays together.

Experience God's Glory as You Pray Together
The man measured the temple including the portico, entrance, projecting walls, and outer and inner sanctuary, considered the Most Holy Place. On the doors of the outer sanctuary were carved cherubim and palm trees like those carved on the walls. The north and south rooms facing the temple courtyard were the priests' rooms where they ate the grain, sin and guilt offerings. They did not go into the outer court until they left behind their ministry garments. He measured inside the temple area along with the east, north, south and west side. A wall separated the holy from the common. Ezekiel saw the glory of the God of Israel enter the temple through the gate facing east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters and the land was radiant with His glory. The Spirit lifted and brought him into the inner court and God's glory filled the temple (Ezek. 40:48-43:5). Experience God's glory as you pray together in the body of Christ.

Follow God's Word to Form an Intimate Relationship with Him
A man inside the temple said this was the place of his throne and for the soles of his feet to live among the Israelites forever. They never again defiled His holy name by spiritual adultery and idols so that God could live among them forever. The man described the temple so Ezekiel could share it with Israel in order for them to be ashamed of their sins. Ezekiel wrote down the design of the temple and measurements of the altar, its arrangements, exits, entrances, regulations and laws so they could follow the plan. God told him the regulations for sacrificing burnt offerings and sprinkling blood on the altar. A young bull would be burned in the designated part of the  temple area as a sin offering by the Levites, of the family of Zadok.  Ezekiel put blood on the four horns of the altar, four corners of the upper ledge and around the rim to purify and make atonement for it. On the second day, he offered a male goat without defect for a sin offering with the altar purified. For seven days he offered a male goat daily for a sin offering to be accepted by God. From the eighth day on, the priests presented the burnt and fellowship offerings on the altar (Ezek. 43:6-27). Follow God's word to form a pure, surrendered and intimate relationship with Him among His people.

Choose Spiritual Leaders Who Practice and Teach God's Word
The outer gate of the sanctuary remained shut because the God of Israel entered through it. The prince entered and left by the portico of the gateway. Ezekiel saw God's glory filling the temple. He told Ezekiel to listen closely concerning the temple's regulations regarding its entrance and sanctuary exits. Rebellious Israel brought uncircumcised foreigners in heart and flesh into God's sanctuary. They put others in charge of it. Levites who worshiped idols bore sin's consequences by not coming near to serve as priests or with the holy offerings. Descendants of Zadok who faithfully carried out their duties could enter the inner court and minister before God wearing linen clothes, turbans and undergarments. They taught His people the difference between the holy and the common and distinguish between the unclean and clean. The priests judge disputes according to God's ordinances (Ezek. 44:1-31). Choose spiritual leaders who practice and teach God's word to others.

Surrender and Confess Your Sins Daily to God
They assigned the Most Holy Place to part of the land as the sacred portion for the priests and an adjoining portion for Israel. God told them to use accurate scales. One sheep was taken from every flock of 200 for grain, burnt and fellowship offerings to make atonement for Israel. The prince provided sin, burnt, grain, drink and fellowship offerings. The priest used blood of the sin offering on the temple doorposts, four corners of upper ledge of the altar and gateposts of the inner court. A sin offering was done on the seventh day of the month for anyone who sinned unintentionally or through ignorance. On the Sabbath, the inner court gate was opened for the priest to sacrifice the burnt (six male lambs and a ram without defect) and fellowship offerings while the people worshiped in God's presence at the entrance. Every day a year-old lamb without defect and a grain offering (sixth of an ephah with a third of a hin of oil to moisten the flour) was sacrificed as a regular burnt offering. Ezekiel saw the sacred rooms where the priests cooked the guilt and sin offerings and baked the grain offerings. He saw the kitchens in the outer court where they cooked the sacrifices of the people (Ezek. 45:1-46:24). Surrender and confess your sins daily to God so you can prepare spiritual people.

Bear Fruit-Bearing Disciples that Heal People in All Nations
Ezekiel saw water coming from under the threshold of the temple. While measuring the temple, the water went from ankle-deep to deep enough for swimming so no one could cross. Water became fresh when it emptied into the Dead Sea revealing large numbers of living fish with fishermen standing from En Gedi to En Eglaim spreading nets. The leaves on fruit trees did not wither or fruit that grew on both banks of the river remained because water flowed from the sanctuary. Their fruit was served for food and the leaves for healing. God revealed the boundaries of the land divided as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel. It ran from the Mediterranean Sea, Damascus, along Jordan and Wadi of Egypt. Aliens with children were considered as native-born Israelites (Ez. 47:1-23). Bear fruit-bearing disciples that heal people in all nations through the Holy Spirit.

Let Christ Have First Place in Church and City
The twelve tribes and their boundaries were listed. Bordering Judah from east to west was a sacred portion with the sanctuary in the center for the consecrated priests, the Zadokites who were faithful in serving God. The priests had territory in the best of the land holy to the Lord. The remaining area was for common use of the city including houses and pastureland to supply food for the workers. What remained on both sides of the area formed by the sacred portion and city property belonged to the prince between  the border of Judah and Benjamin. The exits of the city had gates named after the tribes of Israel. The name of the city was the Lord is there (Ez. 48:1-35). Let Christ have first place in the life of the church and city.

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 with one being the lowest and ten the highest for the following statements:
1. I surrender daily to God through unceasing prayer
2. I confess my sins daily to God
3. I pray with others
4. I am committed to applying God's word to my life
5. I rely on the power of the Holy Spirit
6. I teach God's word to others
7. I am committed to making disciples
8. I work with a team to see the church pray together across racial and denominational lines so Christ can have first place in the city

How to Create a Loving and Intimate Marriage (Insights in Psalms)

"The loving and much loved wife is satisfied with the love of her husband; his smile is her joy, she cares little for any other. So, if you have come to Christ, thy Maker is thine husband - His free love to you is all you need, and all you can care for - there is no cloud between you and God - there is no veil between you and the Father; you have access to Him who is the fountain of happiness - what have you to do any more with idols? Oh! if your heart swims in the rays of God's love, like a little mote swimming in the sunbeam, you will have no room in your heart for idols" (Robert Murray M'Cheyne).

Marriage was designed by God as a visual picture of how Christ as husband loves the church, His bride. Christ's love motivates each of us to spend time with Him and our spouses. Two people come into a marriage as imperfect people with deep wounds from childhood. It takes prayer and loving communication initiated by the husband for both of them to leave their mother and father emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically to cleave to each other. Our loving and intimate marriage provide natural opportunities to share the gospel of Christ. Then we can follow Peter's exhortation to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have" (1 Pet. 3:15).

For his love was more delightful than wine and his name like perfume poured out. Let us hurry so you can take me away. The king has brought me into his chambers. We rejoice, delight in you and praise your love more than wine. Do not stare at me because I am dark. My mother's sons were angry with me so I had to care for vineyards. I neglected my own vineyard (Songs 1:1-7). Exalt in God's love so couples are motivated to spend time together.

Graze your young goats by the tents of the shepherds. I liken my darling to a mare harnessed to Pharaoh's chariot. Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings and neck with strings of jewels. My perfume spread its fragrance at the king's table. My lover is like a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts and a cluster of henna blossoms from the vineyards of En Gedi. How beautiful you are, my darling. Your eyes are doves. How handsome and charming you are, my lover (Songs 1:8-17). Listen to God's love to find your wife beautiful.

My darling is like a lily among thorns among the maidens. My lover is like an apple tree among the trees of the forest among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade and his fruit is sweet to my taste. He has taken me to the banquet hall and his banner over me is love. Strengthen and refresh me for I am faint with love. She charged the daughters of Jerusalem to not arouse love until it so desires. My lover said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me." Show me your lovely face and let me hear you sweet voice. Catch the little foxes that ruin the blooming vineyards. My lover is mine and I am his (Songs 2:1-17). Allow God's love to strengthen and refresh your relationship with Him and in marriage.

I looked for the one my heart loves all night long on my bed. I searched for him through the city streets and squares even asking the watchmen if they had seen him. I found and held him without letting him go until I brought him to my mother's house. Do not awaken love until it so desires. Look at Solomon's carriage escorted by 60 warriors wearing the sword experienced in battle and prepared for the terrors of the night. King Solomon made the carriage of wood from Lebanon, posts of silver, base of gold, seat upholstered with purple and interior lovingly inlaid by the daughters of Jerusalem. Come out you daughters of Zion and look at King Solomon wearing the crown that his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding (Songs 3:1-11). Pray together  to receive healing of childhood issues to you can cleave to one other in love, unity and intimacy.

How beautiful you are my darling as there is no flaw in you. Your veiled eyes are doves, hair like a flock of goats, teeth like a flock of sheep just shorn, lips like a scarlet ribbon, mouth is lovely, temples like the halves of a pomegranate, neck like the tower of David built with a 1,000 shields of warriors hanging on it and two breasts like two fawns browsing among the lilies. I will go to the mountain of myrrh and hill of incense. Come with me from Lebanon, lions's dens and mountain haunts of the leopards, my bride. You stole my heart with one glance of your eyes and one jewel of your necklace. Your love is more pleasing than wine and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice. Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb with milk and honey under your tongue. Your are a garden locked up, spring enclosed and sealed fountain. Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with choice fruits, myrrh and all the finest spices. You are a garden fountain and well of flowing water streaming down from Lebanon. Blow on my garden that its fragrance may spread abroad. Let my lover come into his garden and taste its choice fruits (Songs 4:1-16). Communicate to your wife in visual language that she is beautiful without flaws so she can respond freely without reservations.

I came into my garden and gathered myrrh with spice, my sister and bride. Eat, O friends, and drink your fill, O lovers. I slept but my heart was awake listening for the knocking of my lover saying, "Open to me, my sister, my darling, my dove, my flawless one." My lover thrust his hand through the latch-opening. I arose to open it with my hands dripped with myrrh, but he was gone. As I looked for him, the watchmen of the walls beat and bruised me and took my cloak. She charged the daughters of Jerusalem to find and tell her lover that she is faint with love  (Songs 5:1-8). Seek God and tell others that you love Him because He protects you from danger.

They asked how her beloved was better than others, She responded that her lover is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among 10,000. His head is purest gold with wavy, black hair, eyes like doves by the water streams washed in milk mounted like jewels. His cheeks are like beds of spice yielding perfume, lips like lilies dripping with myrrh, arms are rods of gold set with chrysolite, body like polished ivory decorated with sapphires, legs are pillars of marble set on bases of pure gold, his appearance like Lebanon choice as its cedars and his mouth is sweetness and altogether lovely. This is my lover and friend, daughters of Jerusalem (Songs 5:9-16). Explain articulately and specifically why you love God when others ask about your hope.

Consider the following process in creating a loving and intimate marriage:
1. Couples exalt in God's love to motivate them to spend time together
2. Husbands listen to God's love so He finds his wife beautiful
3. Couples allow God's love to strengthen and refresh both their relationship with Him and marriage
4. Husbands lead in prayer so the couple receives healing from childhood issues and cleave to one other in love, unity and intimacy5. Husbands communicate in visual language to their wife that she is beautiful without flaws so she can respond freely without reservations
6. Seek God and tell others that you love Him because He protects you from danger
7. When others ask about your hope, explain articulately and specifically why you love God

Connected to the Divine Power Source (Insights in NT)

8/22/2012

Picture
Would it not be the height of folly if Tasmania were to resolve to cut the supply of power from that mountain lake and to substitute handpower? Would not the factories soon close down, and the incipient harvest of prosperity suddenly wither? Yet it often seems as though the modern Church were in danger of making a similar mistake. In scores of cases she [the Church] is disconnecting herself from the dynamic of Pentecost, and is endeavouring to find compensation for her loss of spiritual power in brilliance of intellect in the pulpit, in highly organized and expensive machinery, and by calling to her aid incidental accessories, which are borrowed from the world; and which, even where they may be comparatively innocent, are totally unfit to secure the great ends for which she was called into being, according to the purpose and plan of her great Architect (F.B. Meyer). Romans 8 is the central passage on how to walk by the Holy Spirit so you are connected to the divine power source.

There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus because the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. The Law was powerless through the flesh, but God sent His Son, Jesus, in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering and so condemn sin in the flesh. Walking in the Spirit and not the flesh fulfilled the Law's requirement in you. Those who walk in the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh and those according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. The mind set on the flesh is death so you are hostile toward God, not subject to the law of God and cannot please God. The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace so you belong to God in righteousness with His Spirit indwelling you. God's Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead gives life to your mortal bodies (Rom. 8:1-11). God's Spirit indwells you with resurrection power to produce life and peace so you can obey the Law and please God.

You are obligated by the Spirit to put to death the deeds of the body in order to live. Those led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. You received a spirit of adoption as sons crying out, "Abba! Father!" instead of a spirit of slavery leading to fear again. The Spirit bears witness we are children and heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ if we suffer with Him in order to be glorified with Him (Rom. 8:12-17). God's Spirit produces intimacy with God in suffering as co-heirs with Christ to glorify Him.

Our present sufferings are not worthy to be compared to future glory. The creation waits eagerly for the sons of God to be revealed. God subjected the creation to frustration in hope that it will be liberated from bondage to decay and brought into glorious freedom of the children of God. The whole creation and ourselves groan and suffer the pains of childbirth together until now. Having the first fruits of the Spirit, we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons and the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved, but with perseverance we wait eagerly for what we do not see (Rom. 8:18-25). God's Spirit redeems your body as you are liberated into glorious freedom as a child of God.

The Spirit helps our weakness for we do not know how to pray but the Spirit intercedes with groans that words cannot express. God searches the hearts and knows the mind of the Spirit because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. He causes all things to work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew, He predestined to become conformed to the image of Jesus hat He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Those He predestined, He also called, those He called, He justified, those He justified, He glorified (Rom. 8:26-30). God's Spirit intercedes according to God's will to conform you into the image of Jesus.

If God is for us, who is against us? He will freely give us all things since He delivered up His own Son for us. No one will bring a charge or condemn those God chose since He justifies and Christ died and was raised to sit at the right hand of Him who also intercedes for us. Nothing will separate us from Christ's love including trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword. If was written that for His sake we face death all day long and are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Christ who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, life, angels, demons, things present or to come, any powers, height, depth or other created thing will separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:31-39). God gives freely all things including His abiding and eternal love.

Praise God for His indwelling resurrection power producing intimacy with Him in suffering as He redeems your body into glorious freedom as His child.  Thank Him for interceding according to God's will so you can be conformed into Christ's image as He gives freely all things, especially His abiding and eternal love.

Where Life is Found (Insights in Psalms)

3/6/2012

Picture
People search many places for life. It's found in one place only, in Christ. Watchman Nee's quote captures the truth well:  "Outside of Christ, I am only a sinner, but in Christ, I am saved. Outside of Christ, I am empty; in Christ, I am full. Outside of Christ, I am weak; in Christ, I am strong. Outside of Christ, I cannot; in Christ, I am more than able. Outside of Christ, I have been defeated; in Christ, I am already victorious. How meaningful are the words, "in Christ."

Relationship with God
You experience longer life, peace, favor and understanding when truth and kindness rule your heart so you keep His commandments. When you trust in the Lord and don't rely on your understanding, you experience the following benefits:

 a.  Make your paths straight
 b.  Healing and refreshment
 c.  Material plenty when you give
 d.  Loving discipline (Prov. 3:1-12). Trusting in God and keeping His commandments along with kindness lead to fullness in all areas of life.

Wisdom
Nothing compares to the profit of wisdom, not even silver, gold or precious jewels. Here are the benefits of wisdom:
a.  Long life
b.  Riches and honor
c.  Pleasant ways and peace
d.  Tree of life and happiness
e.  Life to your soul
f.   Favor and grace
g.  Walk securely and not stumble
h.  Not fear
i.   Good sleep
j.  Confidence in Lord
k. Not stumble (Prov. 3:13-26). Wisdom has maximum profit since it's the tree of life.

Wisdom is the bridge between a healthy relationship with God and profitable relationship with others.

Relationship with Others
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due or devise harm against your neighbor. Don't envy a man of violence because God is intimate and blesses the upright. He gives grace to the afflicted. The wise inherit honor, but fools display dishonor (Prov. 3:27-35). Wisdom does good to others and leads to intimacy, blessing, grace and honor.

For application, consider these instruction to sons to gain the benefits of wisdom:
1.  Do not forget my teaching but let your heart keep my commandments
2.  Do not reject discipline, instruction of the Lord or resent His reproof
3. Whom the Lord loves He reproves, even as a father whom he delights
4. Keep sound wisdom and discretion; do not let them out of your sight (Prov. 3:1,11,12,21)

Mechanisms to Equip Workmen of the Word (Insights in Law)

1/16/2012

Quoting Steve Jobs, founder of Apple: “There is no reason not to follow your heart.”
“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
“We made the buttons on the screen look so good you’ll want to lick them.”

In the blog explaining Ex. 35-36 to get the proper context, one builds a kingdom ministry by obeying and trusting God for provision while coordinating the labor and planning under His direction.  Share the vision and particulars with potential donors before hiring skilled and wise overseers to lead the work of others. Present a compelling ministry or business plan uniting the various ministries with structural connections, good communication and infrastructure enabling everyone to work toward one purpose and mission (Ex. 35-36). Moses next gives instructions on how to equip workmen to handle God's word accurately in every good work (2 Tim. 2:15; 3:16-17).

Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood overlaid with pure gold inside and out and gold molding around it. He cast four gold rings, two on each side, and poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold. He placed the poles in the rings to carry the ark. Bezalel made a mercy seat of gold and two cherubim of gold at both ends. The cherubim had wings spread upward with faces toward the mercy seat (Ex. 37:1-9). Construct a platform under God's direction so the word and cross of Christ will be heard and applied in full view of the world.

He made the table of acacia wood overlaid with pure gold and gold molding around it. He cast four gold rings placed on the four corners. He made poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold to carry the table. He made gold utensils, including dishes, pans, bowls and jars, to pour out libations (Ex. 37:10-16). Construct a user interface so people readily and easily access God's word.

He made the gold lampstand, a hammered work with its base, shaft,  and cups shaped like almond blossoms along with bulbs and flowers in one piece. It had six branches with three on each side. He made seven lamps with gold snuffers and trays (Ex. 37:17-24). Create the platform and user interface skillfully and beautifully to encourage people to interact with God's word so they see His glory.

He made the altar of incense with acacia wood overlaid with gold and gold molding around it. He made two gold rings on opposite sides of the altar as holders for poles to carry it. He made poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold. He made holy anointing oil and pure, fragrant incense of spices, the work of a perfumer (Ex. 37:25-29). Equip workmen in God's word who pray fervently and handle His word accurately to be prepared for every good work.

He made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood and horns overlaid with bronze on its four corners. He made bronze utensils of the altar, including pails, shovels, basins, flesh hooks and firepans. He made a grating of bronze network underneath the altar. He cast four rings on the ends as holders for the poles. He made poles of acacia wood overlaid with bronze to carry the altar. He made a bronze laver and bronze base from the mirrors of the women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting (Ex. 38:1-8). Lead workmen in God's word who see themselves through the mirror of His word in repentance and confession of sin.

He made the court of fine twisted linen and 20 pillars with 20 bronze sockets. He made silver hooks and bands with silver overlay on their tops. A weaver of blue, purple and scarlet  material wove fine twisted linen to make the screen of the gate of the court. The pegs of the tabernacle  and the court were bronze (Ex. 38:9-20). Motivate workmen in God's word who prioritize intimacy with God.

Bezalel of the tribe of Judah and Oholiab of Dan, an engraver, skillful workman and weaver in blue, purple, scarlet and fine linen, made all that the Lord commanded Moses for the tabernacle of testimony. All the gold used in the work of the sanctuary set aside for the worship of God cost 29 talents and 730 shekels. The silver cost 100 talents and 1,775 shekels; (a beka a head or half a shekel for each one who passed over whoolder than 20 years was 603,550 men. Casting the sockets of the sanctuary and veil (one talent per socket) cost 100 talents of silver. The hooks for the pillars, tops overlay and bands cost 1,775 shekels. The bronze of the wave offering for sockets to the doorway of the tent of meeting, bronze altar and grating, utensils, sockets and pegs cost 70 talents and 2,400 shekels  (Ex. 38:21-31). Write a business plan listing specific costs and trusting God to provide the money.

Here are mechanisms to equip workmen of the word:
1.  Construct a platform under God's direction so His word and cross work of Christ will be heard and applied in full view of the world
2.  Construct a user interface so people readily and easily access God's word
3.  Create the platform and user interface skillfully and beautifully to encourage people to interact with God's word so they see His glory
4.  Equip workmen in God's word who pray fervently and handle His word accurately to be prepared for every good work
5.  Lead workmen in God's word who see themselves through the mirror of His word in repentance and confession of sin
6.  Motivate workmen in God's word who prioritize intimacy with God
7.  Write a business plan listing specific costs, how money will be raised and break-even analysis

Dealing With Unfair Working Conditions (Insights in Law)

Have you ever experienced unfair working conditions because of your Christian convictions? I once worked at a job where my boss continued to intimidate and micro-manage me because I led a Bible study during the noon hour. He got very upset when one of the participants invited him to the study. Sometimes your working conditions will deteriorate because you are standing up for Christ. Co-workers may shun you because you don't laugh at their dirty jokes or lose a promotion because your integrity prevents you from cutting corners for short-term gain.

Moses and Aaron asked Pharaoh based on what the Lord, the God of Israel said, to let His people go so they could celebrate a feast to Him in the wilderness. Pharaoh responded, “Who is Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know Lord, and besides I will not let Israel go.” They requested to let them go a three day’s journey to sacrifice so God wouldn't bring pestilence or death upon them. The king of Egypt accused them of drawing the people away from their work and commanded the taskmasters to let them gather straw for themselves. As a result, their labor became heavier (Ex. 5:1-9). Obeying God causes persecution, pressure and tougher working conditions.

The taskmasters pressed them to complete their work quota similar to when straw was given to them. They beat the foremen and questioned them repeatedly when the work wasn't completed on time (Ex. 5:10-14). Doing God's will can lead to intimidation and being micro-managed because authorities don't understand your convictions.

The foremen complained about their treatment saying it was the fault of Pharaoh. He said their problem was due to laziness because Israel desired to sacrifice to the Lord.  When the foremen saw their dilemma, they confronted  Moses and Aaron saying the Lord should judge them because Pharaoh wanted the foremen killed (Ex. 5:15-21). Seeking justice and righteousness cause authorities to push back if it threatens their vested interests.

Moses returned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why hast Thou brought harm to this people? Why didst Thou ever send me?  Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in His name, he has done harm to this people; and Thou hast not delivered Thy people at all" (Ex. 5:22-23).  When things get tough, be honest and tell God what you think.

If you are experiencing unfair working conditions, be completely honest with God and tell Him exactly what you think. He wants an intimate relationship with you!

God Pays Attention If You Consider the Poor (Insights in Psalms)

I often believed that developing a personal relationship with God occurred out of a vacuum between just me and Him. Isaiah challenges this notion by saying a true fast in humbling yourself before God includes spiritual components of "loosening bands of wickedness" but also how you treat the less fortunate: "divide your bread with the hungry, bring the homeless poor in the house" (Is. 58:5-8).

Ps. 41-43 shows how paying attention to the less fortunate allows God to pay attention to you. God blesses an insightful person who cares for the helpless. He will deliver and protect him times of trouble. God heals his body and soul from physical sickness and sin, respectively (Ps. 41:1-4).

When enemies and even friends speak lies to make him look bad, God sets him in His presence so they can't triumph over him (Ps. 41:5-13).

Tough circumstances like these motivate you to develop an intimate relationship with God like a deer panting after a water brook. Trials and tears make us thirst for God (Ps. 42:1-3).

The proper expression of faith involves heart-felt prayer where you tell God your honest feelings and praise Him in the midst of the corporate  body of Christ (Ps. 42:4). In the rest of Psalm 42-43, the Psalmist demonstrates his honesty and the process so he can praise God again. He admits despair and turmoil, but still hopes in God. The present trial prevents Him from praising God (Ps. 42:5).

The first therapeutic step for the Psalmist is remembering a time when God seemed close to him. He recalled a time in the land of Jordan associated with Mt. Hermon and Mizar. He might have been climbing these mountains when God seemed very real to him. However, the reality of the great hurt was still present like waves rolling over him (Ps. 42:6-7).

The second therapeutic step for the Psalmist was  remembering God's ever-present lovingkindness during both the day and night. The feelings of mourning and oppression from the enemy were still very real to him. His whole body shattered and they ask mockingly, "Where is your God?" He acknowledged his despair and turmoil again, still hoping in God (Ps. 42:8-11).

The third therapeutic step for the Psalmist was his desperate pleading for deliverance from deceitfulness and injustice while mourning and being oppressed by the enemy. He asked that God send out light and truth to lead him into His presence where He could praise Him.  He concluded with his refrain of despair and turmoil with expectation of praising God again (Ps. 43:1-5).

When you feel worn down and oppressed, remember that the evil one is behind it. Keep telling God how you feel, never losing hope that someday things will improve. Remember that this tough circumstance is increasing your desire for intimacy with God.

A key truth: God draws near to those who draw near to Him (James 4:8a). How do you draw near to God? Remember how Psalm 41 started: "consider the helpless"? By drawing near to the less fortunate or  "to one of one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me" (Matt. 25:35-40).

In your difficult time, remember a time when God seemed close to you, acknowledge His love and then plead for deliverance. During the whole time, be honest and tell God how you really feel. Don't forget that intimacy with God is dependent on you paying attention to the less fortunate.

Training for Our Most Important and Fulfilling Job (insights in Law)

I remember struggling to figure out my college major. I took interest tests, talked to various adults and prayed. After starting my first job, I asked, "What a waste of four years in college?" The job was unfulfilling  and didn't seem to make a difference in peoples' lives. My youngest son is going through a similar process. What the world builds up as success ultimately becomes unsatisfying. Does God have a better way? Most of us are called to stay in our present jobs, even if it's unfulfilling, but God has a more important assignment that will not only fulfill us beyond our wildest imagination, but impact our families and communities for eternity.

While Abraham sat at his tent in heat of day by the oaks of Mamre, the Lord appeared to him in the form of three men. While seeing and experiencing God, he bowed as an act of respect and submission to a superior being (Gen. 18:1-2).
1. Prepare to encounter God in unexpected or inconvenient times.

Abraham wanted to host these heavenly visitors and hoped to find favor so they wouldn't leave him. He wanted them to wash their feet, rest and eat bread so they could refresh themselves (Gen. 18:3-5).
2. Remain patient, available and receptive in God's presence.

Abraham asked Sarah to to make bread cakes and prepare a choice calf in a hurry (Gen. 18:6-8).
3. Minister praise and worship urgently to the Lord.

The heavenly visitor said he would return at the same time next year when Sarah would have a son. Abraham and Sarah were old and she was past childbearing age (Gen. 18:9-11). Just as Sarah was called out and listened to the promise at the tent door, God  is personal in the midst of our circumstances.
4. Claim God's supernatural and impossible promise that's personalized just for you.

Sarah's laugh about having sexual pleasure with Abraham were symptoms of unresolved issues in her life: denial, fear and doubt (Gen. 18:12-15). Because God's promises always exceed human understanding, expectations and sensibility, they also reveal deeper issues of struggle in our lives.
5. Allow God to reveal sin and unbelief in your life.

We encounter the central truth in Gen. 18. Is any word, matter or thing too wonderful or beyond the bounds of human powers or expectations for the Lord to accomplish? (Gen. 18:14a).

The first five items listed above equipped Abraham for his most important job: to intercede for his family and a city--Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 18:16-33). Like Abraham, God assigns us as intercessors for our families and communities to delay and even prevent God's judgment because of sin. What's impossible to us is possible for God!

How is God developing your relationship with Him? Which of the five items listed above will you concentrate on so you cooperate with God's personalized training program for you? Begin interceding daily for your family and community.

How To Develop An Intimate Relationship with God (insights in Psalms)

In our last three blogs from the Psalms, we learn about a God who delivers us in every circumstance as we pray and participate in His suffering (Ps. 22); a shepherd who offers provision, protection, purpose and presence as we dwell with Him (Ps. 23); an owner who takes responsibility for our lives as we seek this strong and mighty God who is the King of glory (Ps. 24).

With these kind of credentials, it's no wonder the Psalmist desired to place his full trust upon God who delivered  him from shame or public disgrace caused by his enemies (Ps. 25:1-3). Only an intimate, dependent relationship with God teaches us the pathway to life as He leads us into truth and freedom because of His compassion for us (Ps. 25:4-6).

How does one nurture an intimate relationship with God?

It begins with laying a foundation in His Word for those who are humble to receive it (Ps. 25:8-9). It's important to learn God's Word systematically, verse-by-verse, to get the whole counsel of God from Genesis to Revelation. Not only will your life be aimed in the right direction, but you will reap love, truth and fruitfulness personally and in your ministry (Ps. 25:10-13).

In Ephesus, Apostle Paul declared the whole will of God by admonishing or literally, "putting it into their mind" for a period of three years so people could grow in Christ. He did not withhold any of God's Word (Acts 20:27,31-32).

What does an intimate relationship with God look like?
God is also a person. The word, secret or friendship, in Psalm 25:14, means to speak with God face-to-face as a friend, similar to what Moses experienced (Ex. 33:11). Our study of God's word forms the basis for our friendship with Him.

How is a friendship with God developed?

By focusing on the Lord continually in every circumstance of life (Ps. 25:15). We speak to God when we feel lonely or forsaken (Ps. 25:16). We speak to God when we in trouble or distressed (Ps. 25:17-18). We speak and take refuge in God when we feel the force of the world, flesh and devil against us (Ps. 25:19-20). As we live out the truth we have studied from Genesis to Revelation in addition to prayer, God will set us free from any trouble (Ps. 25:21-22).

Start a Bible reading program that systematically takes you through Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Begin to discipline yourself so you focus on the Lord in every circumstance of life.
