Power of New Covenant Ministry Through the Holy Spirit (Insights in NT)

"But have we Holy Spirit power - power that restricts the devil's power, pulls down strongholds and obtains promises? Daring delinquents will be damned if they are not delivered from the devil's dominion. What has hell to fear other than a God-anointed, prayer-powered church?" (Leonard Ravenhill)

The power of New Covenant ministry through Holy Spirit as found in 2 Cor. 1-3 will comfort, produce answered prayer, fulfill God's promises, forgive sinning believers, triumph always, build confidence, and transform people into freedom and Christlikeness.

God Comforts
Praise to the Father of compassion and God of all comfort who comforted them in all their troubles so they can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort they received from God. Both the sufferings and comfort of Christ overflowed into their lives. If they were distressed or comforted, it was for the Corinthians comfort and salvation that produced in them patient endurance of similar sufferings Paul and his team suffered. Everyone shared in both sufferings and comfort (2 Cor. 1:1-7). God provides comfort in troubles so you can comfort others in their sufferings.

God Answers Prayer
In the province of Asia, they suffered under great pressure far beyond their ability to endure so they despaired even of life. Feeling the sentence of death, they did not rely on themselves but on God who raised the dead. They set their hope in Him for deliverance. The Corinthians helped by their prayers causing many to give thanks for God's answers (2 Cor. 1:8-11). God answers prayer when you rely on Him during times of great pressure.

God Keeps Promises
Paul wrote that he made his ministry plans in holiness and sincerity trusting in God's grace, not according to worldly wisdom. He hoped that they could boast in his team just as he desired to do concerning them at the judgment day. Paul planned to visit them before and after his trip to Macedonia so they could send him on his way to Judea, but not in a worldly manner. The promises of God were always yes in Christ through the preaching of Jesus Christ by he, Silas and Timothy. God made everyone stand firm in Christ, set His seal of ownership and put His Spirit in Paul's team as a deposit guaranteeing the future. The reason Paul did not return to Corinth was to spare them. He did not lord it over their faith but worked with them for their joy so they could stand firm (2 Cor. 1:12-24). God keeps promises in Christ so you can trust Him to provide for your ministry.

God Forgives
Paul communicated the depth of his love in great distress and grief even though he decided not to make another painful visit to them. They should reaffirm their love for a sinner by forgiving and comforting him after church discipline so he would not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. Paul desired that they be obedient in everything regarding forgiveness in the sight of Christ being aware of Satan's schemes (2 Cor. 2:1-11). God forgives and loves sinners through you after church discipline.

God Triumphs
When Paul found an open door while preaching the gospel in Troas, he went to Macedonia without peace of mind because he did not find his brother Titus.  God always leads in triumphal procession in Christ and spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere. To God, Paul and his team were the aroma of Christ among those being saved to life and the smell of death to those perishing. Who was equal to such a task? His team did not peddle the word of God to earn a profit like many, but in Christ, they spoke before Him with sincerity like men sent from God (2 Cor. 2:12-17). God leads in continuous triumph as you spread the aroma of Christ and speak of Him with sincerity without a profit motive.

God Builds Confidence
Did Paul's team like some people require letters of recommendation to or from them? The letter was written on Paul's heart by the Holy Spirit as a result of their ministry, which was known and read by everybody. Their confidence and competence as a minister of the New Covenant came from God. The letter of the law killed, but the Spirit gave life (2 Cor. 3:1-6). God builds confidence and competence through the Holy Spirit.

God Transforms
The Law came with fading glory even though the Israelites could not look at Moses' face. If the ministry engraved in letters on stone that condemned men was glorious, how much more was the ministry that brought righteousness and lasting glory. The Spirit produced hope and boldness unlike Moses who put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from seeing fading glory. This same veil remained and covered their hearts when the Mosaic Covenant was read. When anyone turned to Christ, the veil was removed because the Holy Spirit produced freedom. Those with unveiled faces all reflected the Lord's glory being transformed into Christlikeness with ever-increasing glory from the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3:7-18). God transforms people into freedom and Christlikeness through the Holy Spirit.

Practice New Covenant ministry by intensifying  your prayer life realizing that the Holy Spirit is your comforter, answers prayer, keeps God's promises, forgives sinning believers, triumphs always, builds confidence & competence, and transforms you into freedom and Christlikeness.

Give Yourself Fully to Gospel Ministry (Insights in NT)

"I want the whole Christ for my Saviour, the whole Bible for my book, the whole Church for my fellowship, and the whole world for my mission field" (John Wesley).

After people are empowered and equipped in a small group process through God’s word, then they can give themselves fully to the work of the gospel by preaching the crucified and resurrected Christ along with encouraging and giving generously to those engaged in gospel ministry.

Send Out People to Preach the Gospel in the World
Paul reminded the Corinthians of the gospel He preached, they received and were saved so they would not believe in vain. What he passed on as first importance was that Christ died for their sins, buried and raised on third day according to the Scriptures and appeared to Peter, the Twelve, 500 brothers, James and every apostle and finally Paul. God's grace allowed him to work harder as the least of the apostles since he persecuted the church of God (1 Cor. 15:1-11). Preach the crucified and resurrected Christ for the forgiveness of sins according to the Scriptures as you are empowered by His grace.

Endure Hardship in Gospel Ministry Since God Destroys Evil
If Christ was not raised from the dead as some people say, then his preaching and their faith were useless as false witnesses about God. If the dead were not raised, then Christ was not raised either proving their faith was futile being still in their sins. If people have hope in Him for this life only because the dead in Christ were lost, then they were to be pitied more than all men. But Christ was raised from the dead as the firstfruits of those who died. For as Adam died, in Christ all were made alive. When the end came, Christ handed the kingdom to God the Father after He destroyed all dominion, authority and power. He reigned until putting all His enemies under His feet including death as stated in Psalm 8:6. God put everything under Christ who was subject to Him so God may be all in all. If Paul fought wild beasts in Ephesus assuming the dead were not raised with the philosophy of "eating and drinking for tomorrow we die," he gained nothing. Do not be misled and stop sinning because bad company corrupts good character (1 Cor. 15:12-34). Endure hardship in preaching the gospel because of the resurrection and knowing that God will destroy all evil authorities including death.

Focus Fully on God’s Kingdom Work Because of Christ’s Resurrection
Just as God determined the kind of body that grew from a seed, what was sown perishable would be raised imperishable. What was sown in dishonor, would be raised in glory, What was sown in weakness, would be raised in power. What was sown as a natural body would be raised a spiritual body. The first man Adam became a living being, but the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. The natural or first man who was the dust of the earth came before the spiritual or second man from heaven so people can bear the likeness of Christ. When the trumpet sounded, the dead will be raised imperishable and changed since flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. The perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality so that death would be swallowed up in victory without sting. The sting of death was sin and the power of sin was the law, but God gave victory through Christ. Therefore, they must stand firm and give themselves fully to the Lord's work knowing their labor was not in vain (1 Cor. 15:35-58). Give yourself fully to God's kingdom work because of Christ’s resurrection.

Support and Engage in Effective Ministries
Each person should set aside money on the first day of the week in proportion to his income so no collections would be made when Paul arrived. He would give letters of introduction to the men they approved so they could send the gift to Jerusalem. Paul said he might spend the winter so they could help him wherever he went. He would stay at Ephesus until Pentecost because of an open door for effective work amid opposition (1 Cor. 16:1-9). Support and engage in ministries that have open doors for effective work.

Connect Families to Gospel Ministry Opportunities
He told them to accept and support Timothy in every way because of his work in the Lord so he could rejoin Paul. Apollos was unwilling to go to them with the brothers but would come when he had opportunity. They were to be on guard, stand firm in the faith, be strong as men of courage while doing everything in love. As the first converts in Achaia, the household of Stephanas  devoted themselves to the service of the saints and deserved recognition because they supplied what was lacking and refreshed Paul's spirit and the Corinthians. The churches in Asia, Aquila, Priscilla, their house church and all the brothers with Paul greeted them warmly with grace and love in Christ Jesus. A curse be on anyone who did not love the Lord. Come, O Lord (1 Cor. 16:10-24). Families serve, encourage and give generously to those engaged in gospel ministry.

Are you giving yourself fully to preaching the crucified and resurrected Christ while serving, encouraging and giving generously to those engaged in gospel ministry?

Components to Advance God's Kingdom Agenda and Not the World's (Insights in Law)

An anonymous person wrote, "It takes courage To refrain from gossip when others about you delight in it. To stand up for an absent person who is being abused. To live honestly within your means and not dishonestly on the means of others. To be a real man, a true woman, by holding fast to your Christian ideals when it causes you to be looked upon as strange and peculiar. To be talked about and yet remain silent when a word would justify you in the yes of others, but which you cannot speak without injury to another. To refuse to do a thing which is wrong, though other do it. To dress according to you income and to deny yourself what you cannot afford to buy. To live always according to your convictions."

Certain components are necessary to advance God's kingdom agenda and not the world's. It requires various spiritual gifts working together to write His love on your hearts to empower obedience, serve the poor, open doors to kingdom ministry supernaturally, use every media and situation to train spiritual children, seek the Lord, give generously and obey His word completely as a defense against worldliness.

The Lord told Moses to cut out two tablets of stone so God could write the Ten Commandments again and have them put in the ark.  After Aaron died, the Lord set apart Levi who carried, stood, served and pronounced blessings in His name since the Lord was their inheritance. Moses stayed on the mountain 40 days and nights like first time. Because the Lord listened and was not willing to destroy them, he led the people to enter and possess the land He promised (Deut. 10:1-11). God requires various spiritual gifts working together in ministry so people can advance His kingdom agenda, not the world's.

The Lord required them to fear, walk, love and serve Him with all their heart and soul in order to observe His commandments for their good. Heaven, earth and everything in it belonged to God. He loved and chose Israel above all nations. God instructed them to soften their hearts since the great and awesome God was Lord over all gods. He showed no partiality without bribes, but defended the cause of the fatherless and widow, loved the alien and gave them food and clothing. They were to love aliens as they were aliens in Egypt. God was their praise and did great and awesome wonders their eyes saw. Their forefathers went down to Egypt and God made them numerous as the stars of heaven (Deut. 10:12-22). God writes love on your hearts to empower obedience and serve the poor for your good.

Love God and keep His commandments for strength to possess and live long in the land flowing with milk and honey He cared for. Remember their children who had not seen and experienced His discipline, greatness and miracles in Egypt when the Red Sea parted and God defeated Pharaoh’s army. Their children had not seen other great works God did in the wilderness when the earth opened and swallowed Dathan and Abiram. God brought rain if they loved God and served Him with all your heart and soul. Being deceived by worshiping other gods caused drought and death (Deut. 11:1-17). God opens doors to kingdom ministry supernaturally when you love Him and obey His commands.

They impressed these words on their heart and soul, tied them as symbols on their hands and bound them on their foreheads. Taught and talked of them when they sat in their e house, walked along road, lied down and rose up. Wrote them on the doorposts of their house and gates to multiply their sons' days in the land. By keeping His commands, the Lord drove out nations mightier than them. Every place where they walked would be theirs from the wilderness to Lebanon, from the river Euphrates as far as western sea. Every man would stand and fear when they saw them. God set blessings if they obeyed His commandments and curses if they disobeyed by following other gods. Proclaim blessings on Mt. Gerizim and curses on Mt. Ebal (Deut. 11:18-32). Use every media and situation to equip spiritual children to obey God’s word for success and blessing.

These were the commandments to obey in the land God gave them to possess. Destroy every place where nations served their gods, tore down their altars, smashed sacred pillars, burned Asherim and cut down engraved images of their gods. Seek the Lord and bring all the sacrifices at the place He chose to establish His name for His dwelling. Bring burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, special gifts, freewill offerings and the first-born of your herd. They rejoiced in all their  undertakings. After crossing the Jordan to live where the Lord gave as an inheritance, He provided rest and safety from their enemies (Deut. 12:1-14). Turn from idols, seek the Lord and give generously to defend against worldliness.

They killed and ate meat within any of their gates according to the Lord's blessing. They ate blood, tithed grain and new wine, firstborn of their herds, freewill offerings or special gifts in the presence of the Lord where He chose. They did not neglect the Levites. They ate anything everywhere except the blood for it was the life. They took holy things they vowed to the place God chose. They were careful to obey these words so it may go well with them and their children in doing what was good and right in the Lord’s sight. When God destroyed nations they were to dispossess to live in their land, He instructed them to not be ensnared by inquiring about their gods saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.” Do not worship the Lord their way because in worshiping their gods, they would do bad things God hated. Do not add or take away what God commanded (Deut. 12:15-32).  Follow God’s commands solely and completely while rejecting worldliness in fulfilling kingdom ministry.

Consider the following components in advancing God's kingdom agenda:
1. Join an environment where various spiritual gifts work together in kingdom ministry
2. Allow God to write His love on your heart to empower obedience and serve the poor
3. Wait for God to open doors to kingdom ministry supernaturally
4. Use every media and situation to equip spiritual children
5. Turn from worldliness, seek the Lord and give generously

6. Follow God's commands solely and completely in fulfilling kingdom ministry

How to Have a Life-Changing Ministry (Insights in Law)

10/7/2012

Picture
"We are locked in a battle. This is not a friendly, gentleman's discussion. It is a life and death conflict between the spiritual hosts of wickedness and those who claim the name of Christ" (Francis A. Schaeffer).

God loves, redeems, blesses, fights and provides before He humbles so you do not take personal credit and forget Him. God destroys spiritual enemies so you can take possession of your kingdom mission. God shows mercy and saves unrighteous people if leaders pray fervently, demolish idolatry and claim promises for His glory. God makes it possible to have life-changing kingdom ministry.

God Loves and Redeems
Israel must totally destroy seven larger and stronger nations that they defeated after the Lord delivered them.  Do not make a covenant, show favor or intermarry so their sons would not serve other gods and be destroyed. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones pillars, cut down their Asherim and burn their idols for the Lord had chosen them as a holy and treasured possession out of all the peoples on the earth. The Lord set His affection and redeemed them from the land of slavery in Egypt. God was faithful and kept His covenant to a thousand obedient generations but destroyed those who hated Him (Deut. 7:1-11). God loves and redeems in experiencing freedom and favor as you obey Him.

God Blesses
By listening and doing His laws, God loved, increased their numbers, blessed them materially and prevented harmful diseases of Egypt that their enemies experienced. Destroy everyone God delivered since serving their gods or looking on the people with pity would become a snare (Deut. 7:12-16). God blesses your descendants, finances and health by obeying Him.

God Fights

Do not say in your heart that these nations were too great to be dispossessed. Do not fear but remember what God did to Pharaoh, the great trials you saw and the signs and wonders the Lord did to bring you out of Egypt. He would do something similar to those you fear. The Lord would send the hornet against them until they died. Do not dread them for God is great and awesome. He drove away these nations before you little by little lest wild beasts grew too numerous. The Lord delivered and threw them into great confusion until they were destroyed. He delivered their kings into your hand so you would make their name perish. No man would be able to stand before you until they were destroyed. Burn the graven images and do not covet their silver and gold lest you be ensnared. Bringing an abomination into your house would destroy you (Deut. 7:17-26). God fights gradually to destroy spiritual enemies if you don't covet money.

God Provides

Be careful to follow God’s commands so you live, multiply and possess the promised land. Remember how the Lord led you 40 years in the wilderness to humble and test your heart to determine whether you would keep His commandments. He humbled, caused hunger and fed you with manna to teach that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the Lord’s mouth. Your clothes did not wear out or you feet swell for 40 years. Know in your heart that the Lord disciplined you as a man disciplined his son. Observe His commands since the Lord brought you into a good land with streams, flowing springs, wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil, honey, abundant bread, iron and copper. Praise the Lord for the good land He gave you (Deut. 8:1-10). God provides every need if you obey His word and praise His name.

God Humbles

Beware lest you disobey His commandments and build fine houses with increased herds and money causing a proud heart so you forget God. He brought you out of slavery and led you through the terrible wilderness with fiery serpents and no water. He gave manna to eat in the desert to humble and to test so it might go well with you. Remember that God gave you the ability to produce wealth in confirming His covenant if tempted to say your power and strength produced this wealth. God would destroy you like previous nations if you forget God by following and worshiping other gods (Deut. 8:11-20). God humbles so you don’t forget His power to create wealth and ability to live without a scarcity mindset.

God Destroys
Israel crossed over the Jordan to dispossess nations greater and mightier than them with great and tall people, the sons of Anakim. The Lord went ahead of Israel as a consuming fire to destroy Anakim so they could drive them out and destroy them quickly. Do not say that personal righteousness caused the Lord to bring them in to possess the land but it was because of these nations' wickedness (Deut. 9:1-6). God destroys spiritual enemies so you can drive them out and take possession of your kingdom mission.

God Shows Mercy

Israel provoked the Lord to wrath due to their rebellion in the wilderness after leaving Egypt. Moses received the tablets of the covenant from the Lord. He remained on the mountain 40 days and nights not eating bread and drinking water. The Lord gave him me two tablets of stone written by the finger of God. The Lord told Moses to go down because the people became corrupt and made a cast idol. The Lord wanted to blot out the stiff-necked people and make a nation stronger and greater than they. Moses feared the Lord’s anger to destroy Israel and Aaron but the Lord listened as he prayed for Aaron while burning and crushing the golden calf (Deut. 9:7-21). God shows mercy to unrighteous people if godly leaders pray and demolish idolatry.

God Saves

Israel made the Lord angry at Taberah, Massah and Kibroth-hattaavah. When the Lord sent them out from Kadesh-barnea, they rebelled by not trusting Him to take the land He gave them. Moses laid prostate before the Lord 40 days and prayed that He would not destroy Israel, His inheritance, whom God redeemed through His greatness and brought out of Egypt. He asked God to remember Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and overlook their stubbornness and sin so Egypt would not say God hated them because He put them to death in the desert (Deut. 9:22-29). God saves unrighteous people if leaders pray fervently and claim promises for His glory.

Praise God for His love, redemption, blessings, fighting on your behalf and provision. Humble yourself before God as you do not deserve these benefits. Praise God that He destroys spiritual enemies so you can take possession of your kingdom mission. Pray fervently, demolish idolatry and claim promises for unbelievers so they can know God personally.

Ingredients for Powerful Discipleship Ministry (Insights in NT)

We should not ask, "What is wrong with the world?" for that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask, "What has happened to the salt and light?" (John R. W. Stott).

Paul asked that prayer for unity in Christ and hope in the Holy Spirit empowered the proclamation of the gospel so people were transformed in their character, knowledge and ministry. His plan considered spiritual, emotional and financial resources, ministry relationships and wise counsel required to disciple people so they believed and obeyed God's word in the context of community. These are the ingredients for a powerful discipleship ministry through the local church.

Pray for Endurance and Unity in Christ
Please your neighbor for his good by building him up. The insults you face have fallen on Christ. The Scriptures teach and provide endurance and encouragement so we have hope. Let’s pray that God who provides endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity as you follow Christ for His glory (Rom. 15:1-6). Pray that God provides endurance, encouragement and unity in Christ as revealed in the Bible.

Pray for Joy, Peace and Hope in Holy Spirit
Accept one another as Christ has accepted you. Christ became a servant of the Jews to confirm the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob so the Gentiles would glorify God like David and Moses. Isaiah prophesied that Christ would rule over the nations so the Gentiles would hope in Him. Let’s pray the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 15:7-13). Pray that God fills you with joy and peace as you trust in Him so you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Proclaim Gospel to Develop People Completely

You are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another. Paul was a minister of Christ Jesus in proclaiming the gospel of God so Gentiles could be sanctified by the Holy Spirit. He spoke of nothing except what Christ accomplished through him in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what he said and did through the power of the Holy Spirit in miracles. From Jerusalem to Illyricum, Paul fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ where He was not known to not build upon someone else’s  foundation (Rom. 15:14-21). Proclaim fully the gospel of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit so people are transformed in their character, knowledge and ministry.

Plan Every Aspect of Your Ministry
Paul planned to spend time and have the Romans assist him on his way to Spain. His short-term goal was to take a contribution from Macedonia and Achaia to the poor saints in Jerusalem. He wanted the Gentiles to share materially with the Jews since they had shared in their spiritual blessings. Paul asked them to join in his struggle by praying that he be rescued from Judean unbelievers and the Jerusalem saints would find his service acceptable. He desired to come to Rome with joy and to be refreshed with them (Rom. 15:22-33). Plan for the spiritual, emotional and financial resources to carry out your ministry.

Develop Close Ministry Relationships
Paul commended Phoebe, a servant of the church in Cenchrea, to receive help since she ministered to many people. He asked them to greet Priscilla and Aquila, Paul's fellow workers in Christ, who risked their lives for him and the Gentile churches. Paul asked that they greet the church that met in their home, the first convert to Christ in Asia, relatives in prison with him who were outstanding among the apostles and others who worked hard in the Lord (Rom. 16:1-16). Develop close relationships with ministry team members.

Pursue Wisdom in Fulfilling Your Ministry
Watch and keep away from those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way contrary to the teaching you learned. They deceive the minds of naive people through smooth talk and flattery. Be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet since the grace of Jesus is with you (Rom. 16:17-20). Pursue wisdom, stay away from division and deception, and trust God to crush Satan under your feet.

Disciple People in God's Word Through Community
Paul mentioned that Timothy and his relatives, Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, sent their greetings. Tertius wrote the letter and greeted them in the Lord. Gaius and the whole church he enjoyed sent their greetings. Erasus, the city's public works director, and Paul's brother Quartus sent their greetings. He prayed that God would establish them in his proclamation of the gospel through the prophetic writings so all nations would believe and obey God to the glory of Christ (Rom. 16:21-27). Disciple people to believe and obey God's word in the context of community.

Here are seven ingredients for a powerful discipleship ministry through the local church from Rom. 15-16:

1. Pray that God provides endurance, encouragement and unity in Christ as revealed in the Bible
2. Pray that God fills you with joy and peace as you trust in Him so you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit
3. Proclaim fully the gospel of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit so people are transformed in their character, knowledge and ministry
4. Plan for the spiritual, emotional and financial resources to carry out your ministry
5. Develop close relationships with ministry team members

6. Pursue wisdom, stay away from division and deception, and trust God to crush Satan under your feet
7. Disciple people to believe and obey God's word in the context of community

Praising God Develops Your Character and Ministry (Insights in Prophets)

10/1/2012

Picture
"Character is not built by battling and excitement alone. The harvest is not ripened by the thunderous forces of nature, but by the secret silent invisible forces. So the best qualities of our spiritual lives are matured by quietness, silence and commonplace " (A. P. Gouthey).

God matures you spiritually as He opens a door of ministry that no one can shut. Depend on God to develop your character as you trust Him for open doors and provision for ministry by praising His reign, wonderful working and complete healing. Praising God develops your character and ministry.

Depend on God to Prevent Destruction and Enslavement
The slain were not killed by the sword and did not die in battle. Leaders fled together and captured as prisoners while the enemy was far away. Isaiah wept bitterly over the destruction of God's people. The defenses of Judah were stripped away with many breaches in the City of David. They tore down houses to strengthen the wall but had not considered or regarded the One who made and planned it long ago (Is. 22:1-11). Depend on God so He does not destroy and enslave His people.

Repent of Sin to Experience Forgiveness and Not Waste Time in Pleasure
The Lord Almighty called you to weep and put on sackcloth but there was joy, revelry and drinking of wine instead. "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die." This sin would not be forgiven until you died, said the Lord (Is. 22:12-14). Repent of your sin so you experience forgiveness and not waste time in pleasure.

Trust God to Open Doors of Kingdom Ministry
God would throw them tightly like a ball into a large country where they would die. He would dispose them from their office and oust them from their position. God put a robe on Eliakim and handed their authority over to him as a father for those in Jerusalem and Judah. God placed on his shoulder the key to the house of David, What he opened no one could shut and what he shut no one could open. He would be a seat of honor for the house of his father with glory of his family hanging on him. The peg driven in the firm place would give way and the load hanging on it would be cut down (Is. 22:15-25). Trust God to open doors of kingdom ministry and authority that no one can shut.

Support Kingdom Ministries by God Redirecting Money
Tyre, the nations' marketplace, was destroyed so ships from Tarshish had no harbor to enter. Without ships, the renowned traders' pride were humbled as the Lord planned. The Lord gave an order to destroy the fortresses of Phoenicia and crush Sidon's merchants enriched by  seafarers. The Assyrians turned the land of Babylonians into a ruin. The fortress of the ships of Tarshish was destroyed and forgotten for 70 years. Then she applied her trade with all the kingdoms of the earth so her earnings would be set apart for the Lord and not hoarded. Her profits would provide food and fine clothes for those who live before the Lord (Is. 23:1-18). Support kingdom ministries by God redirecting profits and earnings.

Praise God's Power to Reign by Destroying Kings and Cursing Disobedient
The Lord will totally ruin the earth, scatter all its inhabitants and languish the exalted. The earth is defiled by its people when they disobey laws and break the covenant.
A curse consumed the earth and its people bore their guilt. The vine withered and parties stopped. The ruined city lied desolate and joy turned to gloom. They raised their voices and acclaimed the Lord's majesty while giving glory and exalting the Lord's name. Terror and snares awaited the people of the earth. God will punish the powers in the heavens and kings would be shut up in prison. The Lord Almighty reigns in Jerusalem (Is. 24:1-23). Praise God's power to reign over the earth by destroying kings and cursing the disobedient.

Praise God's Wonders as Refuge for Needy in Distress
Isaiah praised God's name for His perfect faithfulness in working wonders planned long ago. He was a refuge for the poor and needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. God stopped the ruthless (Is. 25:1-5).
Praise God's faithfulness in working wonders as refuge for the needy in their distress.

Praise God's Abundant Provision for Complete Emotional and Spiritual Healing
The Lord prepared a feast of rich food with the finest of wines for all people. He destroyed the shroud that enfolded all peoples. He will swallow up death forever, wipe away tears and remove the disgrace of His people from the earth when they trusted in Him for salvation. God brought down the pride and cleverness of of Moab just like He will do with your high fortified walls (Is. 25:6-12). Praise God's abundant provision for complete emotional and spiritual healing.

Consider how God works to develop your character and ministry:
1. Depend on God.
2. Repent of sin.
3. Open doors for ministry.
4. Support of your ministry.

5. Praise God's reign.
6. Praise God's wonders.
7. Praise God's healing.

Deal Seriously With Sin Before It Crushes You (Insights in Law)

3/25/2012

Sadhu Sundar Singh wrote, "It is not necessary that every single member of the body should become useless and weak before death occurs. A weakness of, or a blow upon, the heart or the brain will suffice to bring an end to life, however strong and healthy other parts of the body may be. Thus one sin by its poisonous effect on the mind and heart is sufficient to ruin the spiritual life not of one only, but of a whole family or nation, even of the whole race. Such was the sin of Adam." Sin begins the moment we are born. Sin spreads through the body of Christ like leprosy in the human body. Therefore, deal seriously with sin in your life and the body of Christ before it crushes you like a boulder.

A woman giving birth to a male child would be unclean for seven days in her menstruation and on the eighth day he would be circumcised. For 33 days, she remained in the blood of her purification where she could not touch any consecrated thing. For female child, she would be unclean for two weeks and remain in the blood of her purification for 66 days (Lev. 12:1-5). God provides time for bonding to deal with original sin in your children.

When her purification was complete, she brought the child to the priest along with one-year-old lamb for burnt offering and young pigeon or turtledove for a sin offering to make atonement and cleansed from the flow of her blood (Lev. 12:6-8). God wants complete surrender to Him as you confront your children's sin nature.

When man had swelling or a scab and it became leprosy, he was brought to Aaron the priest or his sons to pronounce unclean if the infection was deeper than the skin of his body. If not, he would isolate him for seven days. If the infection had faded and the mark had not spread, the priest announced him clean and washed his clothes. If a leper had an infection, he tore his clothes, uncovered the hair of his head and cried, “Unclean! Unclean!” He would remain unclean all the days he had infection. He would live alone in a dwelling outside the camp. If a garment had a mark, the priest would quarantine it for seven days. If the mark spread, he would burn the article. If the mark had not spread, the priest ordered him to wash the article and quarantine for seven more days. If the mark had departed when you washed it, then it would be washed a second time and be clean (Lev. 13:1-59). Confess and forsake sin so it does not spread through the whole body of Christ.

The priest would go outside the camp to the leper, which was the law of the leper in the day of cleansing. If the infection was healed, the priest took two live clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet string and hyssop, while dipping them and the live bird in the blood of the bird that was slain over the running water. The priest sprinkled seven times the one who was to be cleansed from leprosy, pronounced him cleansed and let the live bird go free. The one to be cleansed washed his clothes, shaved his hair and bathed in water for cleansing. He could enter the camp but stayed outside his tent for seven days (Lev. 14:1-9). Christ's death on the cross deals with the sin problem so one can become a new creation in Him.

On the eighth day, he took two male lambs without defect, yearly ewe and 3/10 of ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering and one log of oil. The priest took one male goat for the guilt offering with the log of oil and presented them as a wave offering before the Lord. The priest took the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the right ear lobe of the one to be cleansed along with the thumb of his right hand, big toe of his right foot and  poured the log of oil into his left palm. The priest dipped his  right hand finger into the oil from his left palm to sprinkle it seven times before the Lord. Put remaining oil on right ear lobe, thumb of right hand and big toe of right foot and remainder on the head of one to be cleansed to make atonement before the Lord. The priest made sin, burnt and grain on the altar to make atonement for him (Lev. 14:10-20).
Identify with Christ's death, burial and resurrection in the power of the Holy Spirit so the members of your body don't yield to sin.

If he is poor with insufficient means, he should take one male lamb for guilt offering and 1/10 of ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for grain offering and two turtledoves for sin, burnt and grain offering to make atonement. This is the law for those whose means were limited for his cleansing (Lev. 14:21-32). Everyone can experience wholeness in Christ by walking in newness of life.

When you entered Canaan given as a possession and God put a mark of leprosy on a house, the owner told the priest and he ordered its contents to be emptied. If marks were deeper than the wall's surface, the house would be quarantined for seven days. After inspection, all uncleaned surfaces would be scraped. The stones and plaster would be replaced and the house cleansed with a process similar to a leper. This is the law for any mark of leprosy—scale, garment, house, swelling, scab or bright spot--to teach when they were unclean or clean (Lev. 14:33-57). Teach others the connection between physical and spiritual health.

Ask yourself these questions:
1. What is your attitude to sin?
2. Do you live with sin or are you proactive in applying the blood of Christ by confessing and forsaking sin?
3. Do you prevent the spread of sin in the body of Christ by personal ministry in others' lives?

Spiritual Approach to Evangelism (Insights in NT)

12/16/2011

There are many mechanical or rote presentations of the gospel that a person can learn like the Four Spiritual Laws, Explosion Explosion and the Bridge. God's word won't return void when it is preached. But is there a higher spiritual level for greater effectiveness for evangelism and ministry to others? I believe so!

Martha served, Lazarus reclined with Jesus and Mary anointed the feet of Jesus, filling the house with the fragrance of costly perfume. Jesus told Judas that the poor would always be around unlike Him when questioned why the perfume wasn't sold to give to the poor (John 12:1-8). Worship and prayer to God has priority over service.

The multitude came to see Lazarus and Jesus whom He raised from the dead. The chief priests wanted to put Lazarus to death because many Jews believed in Him (John 12:9-11). Believe that God can perform miracles.

The multitude took palm branches and cried out, "Blessed in He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel," while Jesus rode on a donkey. The multitude were bearing Him witness because He raised Lazarus from the dead. The Pharisees said "the world has gone after Him" (John 12:12-19). Bear witness of Christ after seeing Him do miracles.

Jesus said the hour came for the Son of Man to be glorified. If a grain wheat dies without remaining alone, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, but he who hates this life in this world will keep it to life eternal. Those who serve Christ will follow Him where He is and be honored by the Father (John 12:20-26). Bear fruit by losing your life for Christ's sake.

The multitude heard a voice out of heaven to show judgment was upon this world and its ruler would be cast out. Jesus draws all men to Himself when He is lifted up from the earth. Those who believe in the light as sons of light won't be overtaken by darkness. Jesus quoted Isaiah explaining why they could not believe: He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts lest they see, perceive, be converted and Jesus heal them. Many rulers believed but did not confess Him as they loved the approval of men rather than God (John 12:27-43). Confess Jesus openly before men shows you love God's approval.

Believing in Jesus is the same as believing in God. He who believes in Him will not remain in darkness. He came to save the world, not judge it. If you reject God's word, you will be judged in the last day. Jesus spoke what God told Him to say, which is eternal life (John 12:44-50). Speak life-giving words by saying only what God tells you.

To develop a spiritual approach to evangelism and personal ministry, do the following:
1. Develop a worship and prayer life
2. Believe that God performs miracles
3. Bear witness of Christ when you see miracles
4. Bear fruit by losing your life for Christ's sake
5. Confess Jesus openly before men shows you love God's approval
6. Speak life-giving words by saying only what God tells you

Benefits of Living Water (Insights in NT)

The following are benefits of drinking water: lose weight, natural remedy for headache, look younger with healthier skin, better productivity at work, better exercise, helps in digestion and constipation, less cramps and sprains, less likely to get sick and feel healthy, relieves fatigue, good mood and reduce risk of cancer. Jesus introduced a new kind of water, "living water," to the woman of Samaria. In John 4, we learn about the eternal benefit of living water.

Living Water Satisfies Your Needs
Jesus passed through Samaria and sat by the well tired from his journey. He asked a woman to give Him a drink while she was drawing water. She was amazed that He would ask her for a drink since Jews had no dealings with Samaritans. If she knew the gift of God and who He was, Jesus said she would have asked Him to give her living water. Though the well was deep, she wondered where she could get living water. Jesus said that everyone who drinks of this water thirsts again, but whoever drinks of the water He gives shall never thirst since it is a "well of water springing up to eternal life." When the woman asked for this water to satisfy her thirst, Jesus pointed out she have had five husbands and one she was living with was not her husband. She tried changing the subject by saying He was a prophet and where Samaritans and Jews worship. Jesus said true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. After saying she knew the Messiah was coming, Jesus said He was Him (John 4:1-26). Living water satisfies your needs as you worship God in spirit and truth.

Living Water Triggers Powerful Ministry
The disciples marveled that Jesus was speaking to a woman. She left her waterpot, went to the city and told the men she found Christ who knew everything she had done. Jesus said to His disciples that His food was to do the will of God who sent Him and to accomplish His work. He told them to look at the fields since they were ripe for harvest. Both sower and reaper gather fruit for eternal life. You are sent to reap for that which you have not labored (John 4:27-38). Availability to God's work reaps fruit for eternal life even though you haven't labored for it.

Living Water Convinces Your Heart to Know Christ
Many Samaritans believed in Him because  of the word of the woman who testified that "He told me all the things that I have done." Jesus stayed two days and many more believed. They heard for themselves from Jesus that He is the Savior of the world (John 4:39-42). Jesus convinces that He is your Savior by revealing what's in your heart.

Living Water Leads to Rejection or Acceptance
He went into Galilee testifying that a prophet has no honor in own country. The Galileans received Him having seen all the things He did in Jerusalem at the feast (John 4:43-45). Family and people in your hometown may reject you, but strangers will accept you.

Living Water Produces Physical and Spiritual Healing
A royal official whose son was near death at Capernaum requested Jesus to heal him. Jesus said that unless people see signs and wonders they will not believe. The official believed Jesus word that his son lived, which was confirmed by his slaves. He learned that the fever left his son at the same time Jesus said his son lived. He and his whole household believed after Jesus' second sign (John 4:46-54).
Ask Jesus and believe His word to experience physical and spiritual healing.

Which of the following benefits of living water are most important to you right now:
1. Satisfies your needs
2. Triggers powerful ministry
3. Convinces your heart to know Christ
4. Leads to rejection from family, but acceptance from strangers
5. Produces physical and spiritual healing

Get Involved to Come Alive (Insights In NT)

6/21/2011

Picture
Why doesn't the world take Christians seriously? Often our lives are no different than non-Christians. People aren't attracted to the church because they don't see sparkle and a zest for life. Getting involved in the lives of  others will make you come alive!

One of the Pharisee leaders watched Jesus closely when He asked "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?" Jesus healed a man suffering from dropsy and reasoned that if you had a son or ox fall into a well, wouldn't you pull him out on the Sabbath? (Lk. 14:1-6). Minister to needs that come across your path.

Jesus spoke a parable to invited guests after noticing they had picked places of honor at the table. Instead, He said for them to sit at the last place so the master may say, 'Friend, move up higher', resulting in honor instead of disgrace. "For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted" (Lk. 14:7-11). Humble yourself to be exalted.

Jesus told the host to not invite his friends, brothers, relatives or rich neighbors, lest they invite him in return. When giving a reception, invite the poor, crippled, lame and  blind in order to be blessed since they have no means to repay. Wait for payment at the resurrection of the righteous (Lk. 14:12-14). Spend time with the poor, crippled, lame and blind.

Jesus shared another parable about a man who invited many to a big dinner and the various excuses given why they couldn't come: oversee a piece of land, try out five yoke of oxen and married a wife. The master told his slave to go  immediately into the streets and bring in the poor, crippled, blind and lame. After finding there was still room, the master said to "go out into the highways and along the hedges and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." None invited shall taste of His dinner (Lk. 14:15-24). Leave your comfort zone so the poor, crippled, blind and lame can experience a personal relationship with Christ.

Jesus continued to share about the cost of discipleship since one's love for family and his own life should be hated in comparison to Christ. Being a disciple involves carrying a cross. Just like calculating the cost to build a tower or king taking counsel whether he is strong enough to win in battle, count the cost before becoming a disciple.  If you put possessions in their proper perspective, then you can become a disciple. Not paying the price of discipleship results in being tasteless and ineffective (Lk. 14:25-35). To influence others, pay the price by not letting other things exceed your love for Christ.

Answer the following questions on how to get involved in others' lives so you come alive:
1. Do you minister to needs that come across your path or walk on the other side to avoid them?
2. Are you humble not expecting attention or exalt yourself to feel important?
3. Do you spend time with the poor, crippled, blind and lame  (either physically or spiritually) or only hang out with important and beautiful people?
4. Do you leave your comfort zone to help the poor, crippled, blind and lame experience a personal relationship with God or hide away at home, office or church building?
5. Do you pay the price in loving Christ more than other things or love other things more than Christ?

Repent of your sin, ask God to change your heart and obey Him by doing the first thing listed in each question.
