How to Know Your Labor in Christ Gains Rest and Significance (Insights in NT)

In order to know your labor in Christ gains rest and significance; remember Israel birthed Jesus how rules and protects; overcome Satan's accusations by Lamb's blood, word of testimony and lose life for His sake, endure patiently and faithfully by resisting the devil and antichrist; resist deception and compromise in the great tribulation;  achieve victory in Christ through purity and faithfulness; and escape eternal torment in hell.

Remember Israel Birthed Jesus Who Rules and Protects
A pregnant woman cried out in pain just before she gave birth. A large red dragon with seven heads, ten horns and seven crown appeared as another sign in heaven. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky. The dragon stood in front of the woman to devour her child. She gave birth to a male child who would rule all the nations with an iron scepter. Her child was snatched up to God and to His throne. The woman fled in the desert and where she was protected for 1,260 days (Rev. 12:1-6). Remember Israel birthed Jesus who rules the nations and protects His people during the great tribulation.

Overcome Satan's Accusations by Lamb's Blood, Word of Testimony and Lose Life for His Sake
After Michael and his angels fought the dragon (serpent, devil, Satan) and his angels, he was hurled to earth and led the world astray. Salvation, power and kingdom of God along with the authority of His Christ came. The accuser of brothers who accused them before God day and night was hurled down. Believers overcame him by the Lamb's blood, word of their testimony and willingness to die. Being filled with fury, the devil knew his time was short and pursued the woman who gave birth to the male child. The woman was cared for in the desert for 1,260 days. The serpent spewed water like a river to overtake the woman but the earth swallowed the river. The dragon was enraged and made war against those who obeyed God's commandments and held to Jesus' testimony (Rev. 12:7-17). Overcome Satan's accusations by Lamb's blood, word of testimony and lose your life for His sake.

Endure Patiently and Faithfully By Resisting Devil and Antichrist
A beast (antichrist) came out of the sea with ten horns, seven heads and a mouth like a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power, throne and great authority. The whole world followed the beast who uttered proud words, blasphemies and exercised his authority for 42 months over every tribe, people, language and nation. Men worshiped the dragon because he gave authority to the beast who warred and conquered the saints. Those who names were not written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb worshiped the beast. Because God determined who would go into captivity or killed, saints must patiently endure with faithfulness (Rev. 13:1-10). Endure patiently and faithfully by resisting the devil and antichrist.

Resist Deception and Compromise in Great Tribulation
Another beast (false prophet) came out of the earth with two horns like a lamb who spoke like a dragon. He exercised his authority on behalf of the first beast (antichrist). He made everyone worship the antichrist whose fatal wound was healed. His miraculous signs like fire coming down from heaven deceived men. He ordered an image be set up in honor of the antichrist. He was given power so the image had breath, spoke and killed anyone who refused to worship it. He forced everyone to receive a mark on his right hand or forehead to buy or sell with the beast's number: 666 (Rev. 13:11-18). Resist deception and compromise by not taking a mark to buy or sell from the antichrist,

Achieve Victory in Christ Through Purity and Truthfulness
The Lamb stood on Mount Zion with 144,000 who had His Father's name written on their foreheads. John heard a loud sound like harpists playing their harps singing a new song before the throne, four living creatures and elders. Only the 144,000 redeemed from the earth who stayed pure with women and followed the Lamb wherever He went could learn the song. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths (Rev. 14:1-5). Achieve victory in Christ through purity and truthfulness so God hears your new song.

Escape Eternal Torment in Hell Knowing Labor in Christ Gains Rest and Significance
Another angel had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those on earth. He said to fear, worship and give the Creator God glory because the time of judgment was coming. A second angel said Babylon the Great fell, which made the nations drink the wine of her adulteries. A third angel said if anyone worshiped the beast, his image and received his mark, he would drink the cup of God's wrath. He would be tormented forever with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. This called for patient endurance for saints who obeyed God's commandments and remained faithful to Jesus. Those who died in the Lord from that point on were blessed since they rested from labor and their deeds followed them (Rev. 14:6-13). Escape eternal torment in hell knowing your labor in Christ gains rest and significance.

Realize Timeliness of God's Wrath in Final Battle of Armageddon
Someone like a son of man was seated on a white cloud with a crown of gold on his head and sharp sickle in his hand. Another angel said to take the sickle and reap because the earth's harvest was ripe. Another angel with charge of the fire called out to an angel to use its sharp sickle to gather clusters of ripe grapes from the earth's vine. It threw them into the great winepress of God's wrath. They were trampled in the winepress outside the city where blood flowed as high as horses' bridles for 180 miles (Rev. 14:14-20). Realize timeliness of God's wrath in final battle of Armageddon.

Know your labor in Christ gains rest and significance by remembering Israel birthed Jesus who rules and protects to escape eternal torment in hell, overcome Satan's accusations by the Lamb's blood, word of testimony and lose life for His sake to achieve victory in Christ though purity and faithfulness, and resist deception and compromise in the great tribulation by enduring patiently and faithfully.

How to Reign with Christ and Shepherd the Nations (Insights in NT)

6/11/2013

Picture
A person reigns with Christ and shepherds the nations by:
1. Walk in Christ's love doing first works
2. Endure suffering, poverty and persecution
3. Obey teaching from whole counsel of God
4. Be pure without compromise or idolatry
5. Walk in Christ's victory to overcome busyness and over-confidence
6. Embrace evangelistic opportunities relying on God
7. Listen to Jesus' voice for zealous service and fervent prayer

Walk in Christ's Love Doing First Works for Real Living
Christ knew the deeds, hard work and perseverance of the church in Ephesus. It could not tolerate wicked men and tested those who claimed to be apostles that were found false. They did not grow weary enduring hardships for His name. They must repent of forsaking their first love and do the things they did at first. Otherwise, Christ would remove the lampstand from its place if they did not repent. He was pleased they hated the practices of the Nicolaitans. By overcoming, He would give the right to eat from the tree of life in the paradise of God (Rev. 2:1-7). Walk in Christ's love doing works you did at first for real living.

Endure Suffering, Poverty and Persecution to Receive Crown of Life
Christ considered Smyrna rich in their afflictions and poverty. He knew the slander of a synagogue of Satan who said they were Jews, but were not. Christ told them not to fear suffering as the devil would put some in prison to be tested and persecuted for ten days. He would give them the crown of life if they were faithful, even to death. Those who overcame would not be hurt by the second death (Rev. 2:8-11). Endure suffering, poverty and persecution to receive the crown of life.

Obey Teaching From Whole Counsel of God to Receive Provision and Blessing
Christ knew Pergamum lived where Satan had his throne, yet remained true to His name without renouncing their faith. They were to repent because some held the teaching of the Nicolaitans and others held to Balaam's teaching who taught Balak to entice Israel to sin by eating foods sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. He would fight against them with the sword of His mouth. Those who overcame would be given hidden manna and a white stone with a new name written on it known only to him who received it (Rev. 2:12-17). Obey teaching from whole counsel of God to receive provision and blessing.

Be Pure Without Compromise and Idolatry for Reigning and Shepherding to Receive Christ as Reward
Christ knew Thyatira's deeds, love, faith, service and perseverance. Their later works were greater than those done at first. However, they tolerated Jezebel who misled His servants into sexual immorality and eating foods sacrificed to idols. Because she was unwilling to repent of her immorality, Christ put her on a bed of suffering. Those who committed adultery with her would suffer intensely unless they repented of her ways. Others who did not hold onto her teaching or learned Satan's deep secrets would have no other burden. Those who overcame and did His will to the end would have authority over the nations by ruling with an iron scepter and given the morning star (Rev. 2:18-29). Be pure without compromise or idolatry for reigning with Him and shepherding the nations to receive Christ as your reward.

Walk in Christ's Victory to Overcome Busyness and Over-Confidence for His Acceptance
Christ knew Sardis' deeds and their reputation of being alive, but really dead. He commanded them to wake up and strengthen what remained and near death for their deeds were not found complete in God's sight. They were to obey and repent after remembering what they received and heard. If they did not wake up, He would come like a thief.  A few worthy people did not soil their clothes and walked with Him. Overcomers were dressed in white with their names never erased from the book of life. Christ would acknowledge His name before His Father and angels (Rev. 3:1-6). Walk in Christ's victory to overcome busyness and over-confidence for His acceptance.

Embrace Evangelistic Opportunities Relying On God to Gain Stability and Honor
What Jesus opened no one could shut and what He shut no one could open. He placed an open door before them that no one could shut. He knew they had little strength, but they kept His word and did not deny His name. He made those of Satan's synagogue who claimed to be Jews but lied to fall down at their feet and acknowledge God loved them. Because they kept His command to endure patiently, He kept them from the hour of trial to test those on the earth. Because He was coming soon, they were to hold on to what they had so no one would take their crown. He made overcomers a pillar in His temple and wrote on them God's name and the name of the city of His God, the new Jerusalem, which would come down out of heaven from Him. He would write on him His new name (Rev. 3:7-13).
Embrace evangelistic opportunities relying on God to gain stability and honor from Him.

Listen to Jesus' Voice for Zealous Service and Fervent Prayer to Sit on His Throne
Christ knew that since Laodicea's deeds were neither cold nor hot, but lukewarm, He would spit them out of His mouth. By acquiring wealth, they considered themselves rich without needs. Christ said they failed to realize their wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked state. He counseled them to buy from Him gold refined in fire to become rich, white clothes to wear so they could cover their shameful nakedness and eye salve so they could see. Because Christ rebuked and disciplined those He loved, they should be earnest and repent. If anyone heard His voice and opened the door, He would go in and eat with him and he with Him. Overcomes had the right to sit with Christ on His throne like He did with His Father on His throne (Rev. 3:14-22). Listen to Jesus' voice for zealous service and fervent prayer so you can sit on His throne.

Ask God to enable you to reign with Christ and shepherd the nations as you walk in Christ's love, endure suffering, be pure, walk in His victory, embrace evangelistic opportunities and listen to His voice for zealous service and fervent prayer.

Proclaim God's Truth for Joyful Fellowship (Insights in NT)

The results of proclaiming God's truth for joyful fellowship include:
1. Walk like Jesus by loving God and others
2. Grow spiritually with forgiven sins, overcome evil one and know God so you don't love the world
3. Listen to the Holy Spirit's teaching ministry and prevent being led astray by lies
4. Fix your hope on Christ's coming to be purified from sin
5. Share material possessions with the needy to show love
6. Receive answered prayer by obeying His commands and pleasing Him through the Holy Spirit

Proclaim God's Truth for Joyful Fellowship

They proclaimed the Word of life that was from the beginning. They testified what was heard, seen and touched concerning eternal life. They wanted  others have the joy of fellowship with them and their Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. They declared that God was light without darkness. People lied by claiming to have fellowship with Him and not living by the truth. By walking in the light of God, they had fellowship with one another. The blood of Jesus, His Son, purified them from every sin. They deceived themselves and the truth was not in them by claiming to be without sin. If they confessed their sins, He was faithful and just to forgive their sins and purify them from all unrighteousness. They made Him a liar and His word had no place in their lives by claiming they had not sinned (1 John 1:1-10). Proclaim His truth for joyful fellowship with God and others.

Walk Like Jesus By Loving God and Others
John wrote these things so they would not sin. Jesus, the Righteous One and atoning sacrifice for their sins, was their advocate to the Father if they sinned. They knew Him and His love was made complete in them by obeying His commands. Those who walked as Jesus did knew they were in Him. If they claimed to be in the light and hated their brother, they were in darkness. Those who loved their brother lived in the light and nothing made them stumble. By hating their brother, they walked in darkness and were blind (1 John 2:1-11). Walk like Jesus by obeying His commands to love God and others.

Grow Spiritually with Forgiven Sins, Overcome Evil One and Know God
John wrote to his children because their sins were forgiven because of His name. He wrote to fathers because they knew Him who was from the beginning. He wrote to young men because they overcame the evil one. He wrote to his children because they knew the Father. He wrote to fathers because they knew Him who was from the beginning. He wrote to young men because they were strong, word of God lived in them and they overcame the evil one. Those who loved the world or anything in it did not have Father's love in them. The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and boasting of what he had or did came not from the Father, but the world. The world and its desires passed away, but those who did God's will lived forever (1 John 2:12-17). Grow spiritually with forgiven sins, overcome evil one and know God so you don't love the world.

Listen to Holy Spirit's Teaching Ministry to Prevent Being Led Astray
Knowing that many antichrists went out from the church proved they were not true believers. The anointing from the Holy One enabled them to know the truth. The liar denied the Father, Son and that Jesus was the Christ. They remained in the Son and Father by making sure they remained in what they heard from the beginning. He promised eternal life. The anointing received from Him taught them all things to prevent being led astray (1 John 2:18-27). Listen to the Holy Spirit's teaching ministry to prevent being led astray by lies.

Fix Hope on Christ's Coming for Purification from Sin
Continuing in Christ allowed them to be confident without shame at His coming. The Father lavished His love to be called children of God. The world did not know them because it did not know Him. In the future when Christ appeared again, they would be like Him because they saw Him as He was. Even this hope purified everyone. Those who sinned broke the law. Christ who was without sin appeared to take away sin. People who saw, knew or lived in Him did not continue sinning being righteous like Him. Sinful folks were of the devil since they sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared to destroy the devil's work. Someone's new nature could not sin being born of God. Children of the devil sinned being unrighteousness and not loving their brothers (1 John 2:28-3:10). Fix your hope on Christ's coming to be purified from sin.

Share Material Possessions with Needy to Show Love
Cain belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother because his actions were evil and his brother's were righteous. The world hated true believers. Loving their brothers proved they passed from death to life. Those who hated their brothers were murderers without eternal life in Him. Laying down one's life for his brother followed Jesus' example who laid down his life for them. They showed love by sharing material possessions with their needy brother. Love meant actions and truth, not words or tongue (1 John 3:11-20). Share material possessions with the needy to show love.

Receive Answered Prayer Through Obedience
Those confident before God received anything they asked from Him because they obeyed His commands and did what pleased Him. They knew He lived in them by the Spirit He gave (1 John 3:21-24). Receive answered prayer by obeying His commands and pleasing Him through the Holy Spirit.

Answer the following questions that are results of proclaiming God's truth for joyful fellowship:
1. Are you walking like Jesus by loving God and others?
2. Are you growing spiritually by having your sins forgiven, evil one overcome and God known so you don't love the world?
3. Are you listening to the Holy Spirit's teaching ministry to prevent being led astray by lies?
4. Are you fixing your hope on Christ's coming to be purified from sin?
5. Are you sharing material possessions with the needy to show love?
6. Are you receiving answered prayer by obeying His commands and pleasing Him through the Holy Spirit?

How to Gain a Life-Giving Faith (Insights in NT)

5/10/2013

Picture
James explains how to gain a life-giving faith. Those who persevere joyfully in trials, study and apply God's word, love their rich and poor neighbors, express good works through their faith, praise God with their tongue and choose heavenly wisdom gain spiritual maturity, receive crown of life, express pure religion, show mercy and active faith, prevent corruption and bear righteousness.

Persevere Joyfully in Trials
When Christians considered trials as pure joy when their faith was tested, they developed perseverance, maturity and completeness without lacking anything. God gave generously without finding fault if they asked Him for wisdom in faith without doubts and double-mindedness. Those in humble circumstances were in a high position compared to the rich who faded away like a flower. Those who persevered under trial received the crown of life promised to those who loved God. Temptations were caused by evil desires. If birthed sin after conception leading to death when full-grown. Every good and perfect gift came from the Father of the heavenly lights who chose to birth people through the word of truth as firstfruits of all He created (James 1:1-18). Persevere joyfully in trials for spiritual maturity to gain the crown of life.

Study and Apply God's Word
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger in becoming righteous without moral filth. They humbly received the word implanted for salvation. Deception occurred when those listened to the word without obedience like looking in a mirror and forgetting what they looked like. Blessing came to those who looked intently and did according to the perfect law of liberty. Those who did not rein their tongue deceived themselves and had worthless religion. People with pure and faultless religion looked after orphans and widows in their distress and kept themselves unstained by the world (James 1:19-27). Study and apply God's word by speaking carefully, looking after orphans and widows and refusing worldliness.

Love Rich and Poor Neighbors
If believers showed favoritism or gave special attention to a rich person and discriminated against the poor, they became judges with evil motives. God chose the poor to be rich in faith and inherit the kingdom promised to those who love Him. The rich exploited, dragged people into court and slandered peoples' good name. People did good and kept the royal law by loving their neighbor as themselves. They sinned by showing favoritism. Whoever kept the whole law and stumbled in one point was guilty of breaking it. Judgment without mercy was shown to anyone who had not been merciful. Mercy triumphed over judgment (James 2:1-13). Love rich and poor neighbors by showing mercy and not judgment.

Express Good Works Through Your Active Faith
If someone told a brother or sister without clothes and daily food to be warm and well fed without helping their physical needs, his faith was worthless. Faith without works was dead and useless. Demons believed and shudder. Abraham was considered righteous when he offered his son Isaac on the altar. Faith and actions worked together to complete his faith by what he did. Abraham was called God's friend after he believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. People considered Rahab the prostitute righteous when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them in a different direction (James 2:14-26). Express good works through your active faith.

Praise God with Your Tongue
Those who presumed to be teachers were judged more strictly. By not stumbling in speech, they kept their body in check. Small parts like bits, rudders and tongues directed horses, ships and people, respectively. A small spark set a great forest on fire. Likewise, the tongue corrupted and set on fire the whole person being from hell, evil and full of deadly poison. The tongue praised God and cursed men who were made in His likeness. Fresh and salt water could not flow from the same spring. A salt spring could not produce fresh water (James 3:1-12). Praise God with your tongue to prevent corruption.

Choose Heavenly and Pure Wisdom
A wise and understanding person produced deeds done in humility. Bitter envy and selfish ambition that were earthly, unspiritual and devilish tempted a person to boast or deny it. It contained disorder and every evil practice. Wisdom from heaven was pure, peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sowed in peace raised a harvest of righteousness (James 3:13-18). Choose heavenly and pure wisdom as a peacemaker who bears a harvest of righteousness.

To gauge the condition of your faith, rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 (one being lowest and ten the highest) in the following areas:
1. Persevere joyfully in trials to gain spiritual maturity and crown of life
2. Study and apply God's word to express pure religion
3. Love your rich and poor neighbors to show mercy
4. Express good works through your active faith
5. Praise God with your tongue to prevent corruption
6. Choose heavenly wisdom to bear righteousness

Develop Closer Relationships Between Fathers and Children (Insights in Prophets)

4/28/2013

Picture
To release God's healing for closer heart relationships between fathers and children, surrender your heart to teach whole Bible so you create desire for instruction, unified marriage, purified people, hate oppression, give financially to God's kingdom and expect God to write a scroll of remembrance.

Surrender Your Heart to Show God's Greatness
Malachi told Israel that God showed love by loving Jacob and hating Esau. He turned his mountains into a wasteland called The Wicked Land.  God continually demolished it to prove His greatness to Israel. They did not honor and respect God like a son to His father. The priests despised His name by sacrificing crippled or diseased animals on the altar they would not offer to their governor. God was displeased and found these useless fires unacceptable. They shamed and cheated Him by sacrificing blemished animals instead of offering acceptable males they vowed to give. Israel was to show nations that God was to be feared as a great king (Mal. 1:1-14). Surrender your heart to show God's greatness to unbelievers.

Teach Whole Bible to Create Desire for Instruction
If priests did not set their heart to listen or honor God, He sent a curse and cut off their descendants. He made a covenant of life and peace with Levi so they could reverence His name. True instruction was in his mouth as he walked in peace and uprightness turning many from sin. Priests should preserve knowledge so men would seek instruction from the messenger of the Lord Almighty. But they turned from the way, violated the covenant with Levi and their teaching caused many to stumble. God caused them to be despised and humiliated before everyone since they did not follow His ways showing partiality in matters of the law (Mal. 2:1-9). Teach whole Bible to turn people from sin and create desire for instruction.

Guard Your Spirit for Unified Marriage to Bear Godly Offspring
Judah broke faith with one another by marrying the daughter of a foreign god. God did not accept their offerings because they broke their marriage bond through divorce. He sought godly offspring from the one flesh relationship between husband and wife. Husbands who guarded their spirit prevented breaking faith with the wife of their youth since God hated divorce (Mal. 2:10-16). Guard your spirit for unified marriage to bear godly offspring.

Participate with God to Purify His People and Hate Oppression
They wearied Him saying those who did evil were pleasing to Him and questioning whether there was a God of justice. No one could stand the refiner's fire of God's coming as He purified the Levites like gold and silver. Judah's and Jerusalem's righteous offerings would be acceptable. God would judge sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers. He was against those who defrauded laborers of their wages, oppressed the widows and fatherless, and deprived aliens of justice without fearing God (Mal. 2:17-3:5). Participate with God to purify His people and hate oppression of others.

Give Financially to God's Kingdom and Reap His Blessing
His people should return to God and His word so He would return to them. He cursed Israel because they robbed Him of tithes and offerings. Bringing the whole tithe into the storehouse brought food into His house. By testing Him, they saw Him open the floodgates of heaven to pour out so much blessing that there was no room for it. He prevented pests from devouring crops and fruit from their  fields. All nations called them blessed in a delightful land (Mal. 3:6-12). Give financially to God's kingdom and reap His blessing.

Expect God to Write a Scroll of Remembrance By Fearing Him
Israel said it was futile to serve God since evildoers prospered and those who challenged God escaped. The Lord listened and wrote a scroll of remembrance for people who feared Him and talked with each other. He distinguished between those who served God as His treasured possession and those who did not (Mal. 3:13-18). Expect God to write a scroll of remembrance by fearing Him.

Release God's Healing for Closer Heart Relationships Between Fathers and Children
A day would come to burn the arrogant and every evildoer. For those who revered God's name, the sun of righteousness would rise with healing so they leaped like calves released from the stall. They trampled down the wicked like ashes under their feet. Malachi commanded Israel to remember the law God gave Moses at Horeb. He would send Elijah before the dreadful day of the Lord to turn the hearts of fathers to their children and hearts of children to their fathers or else curse the land (Mal. 4:1-6). Release God's healing for closer heart relationships between fathers and children.

To release God's healing for closer heart relationships between fathers and children:
1. Surrender your heart to teach whole Bible
2. Turn people from sin
3. Create desire for instruction
4. Guard your spirit for unified marriage
5. Bear godly children
6. Participate with God to purify His people
7. Hate oppression of others
8. Give financially to God's kingdom and reap His blessings
9. Expect God to write a scroll of remembrance

Steps In Rescuing Prodigals (Insights in Prophets)

4/24/2013

Picture
God is active in rescuing prodigals  beginning with His sovereignty that spurs Him to action.  God's holiness protects prodigals from wrath, His love destroys those who harm them, His righteousness leads to godly lifestyle, His truth purifies their lips to call on Him and His power rescues them so they can walk with God.

The proper response of those who desire to rescue prodigals from sin is to reject complacency and idolatry, seek God in humility and righteousness, receive His inheritance, avoid a carefree lifestyle, wait on Him in truth without fear, and take delight in mighty God who empowers prodigals to walk with Him.

God's Sovereignty Spurs Him to Action
God said to Zephaniah during Josiah's reign that He would sweep everything from the earth. He would stretch His hand against those in Judah and Jerusalem who worshiped Baal and Molech without seeking God. He would punish those who filled the temple of their gods with violence and deceit along with the complacent who thought God was inactive. He plundered their wealth and demolished their houses. They would build houses and not live in them and plant vineyards and not drink the wine (Zeph. 1:1-13). Know God hates complacency, idolatry, violence and deceit.

God's Holiness Protects You From Wrath
The day of the Lord brought wrath, distress, anguish, trouble, ruin and gloom. People would walk like blind men because of sin. Their money could not save them. God's jealousy consumed and ended the whole world. The humble  who did what He commanded sought the Lord. They should seek righteousness and humility to gain shelter during the day of the Lord's anger (Zeph. 1:14-2:3). Seek God in humility and righteousness for protection from His wrath.

God's Love Destroys Those Who Harm You
God would destroy the Philistines so the remnant of Judah would dwell in the houses of Ashkelon. He cared and restored their fortunes. Moab and Ammon insulted and made threats against God's people who would inherit their land. After He destroyed all the gods of the land, every nation would worship Him (Zeph. 2:4-12). Receive His inheritance after He destroys every god that insults and threatens you.

God's Righteousness Leads to Godly Lifestyle
God would destroy Assyria and leave Nineveh desolate. This was a carefree city that lived in safety. Nineveh said that there was none besides her. Nineveh became a ruin with everyone scoffing at her (Zeph. 2:13-15). Avoid a carefree lifestyle that leads to ruin and scoffing.

God's Truth Purifies Your Lips
Zephaniah said Jerusalem was rebellious, accepted no correction and did not draw near to the Lord. Her officials were roaring lions, priests did violence to the law and  prophets were angry. God was righteous, dispensed justice and never failed. He demolished strongholds and destroyed cities. People acted corrupted and did not accept correction from God. They waited on Him for purified lips to call on His name. He removed those who rejoiced in pride only leaving the humble who trusted in God's name. Israel's remnant spoke no lies or deceit and no one made them afraid (Zeph. 3:1-13). Wait on God in truth without fear so purified lips can call on His name.

God's Power Rescues Prodigals
God turned back the enemy so Jerusalem did not fear. He was mighty to save and took great delight in them. He quieted them with His love and rejoiced over them with singing. God dealt with all who oppressed them, rescued the lame, gathered the scattered and gave them praise and honor in every land. He brought them home and  restored their fortunes before their eyes (Zeph. 3:14-20). Take delight in mighty God who rescues prodigals so they walk with Him.

Ask God to empower you in the following ways by rescuing prodigals from sin:
1. Reject complacency and idolatry
2. Seek God in humility and righteousness
3. Receive His inheritance
4. Avoid a carefree lifestyle
5. Wait on Him in truth without fear so you can call on Him
6. Delight in mighty God who rescues prodigals so they walk with Him

Trust God During Crisis to Reap Benefits (Insights in Psalms)

4/11/2013

Picture
Trusting God during temptations, crisis and stress reap benefits. By committing to purity, you reap greater learning and competence in your work. By asking God for wisdom and communicating with humility during a crisis, you reap promotion, provision and influence. By refusing to worship idols and trusting God during stressful circumstances, you see unbelievers praise God.

Commit to Purity and Reap Greater Competence
King Nebuchadnezzar carried off articles from God's temple to the temple of his god in Babylon. He brought young Israelites without defect showing aptitude for every kind so they could learn the language and literature of the Babylonians and be qualified to serve the king's palace after three years. Daniel resolved not to defile himself with royal food and wine. God caused the official to show favor, but was afraid he would look worse than other young men his age. After a ten-day test of vegetables and water, Daniel looked healthier and better nourished than the others who ate the royal food. God gave Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning before entering the king's service. The king found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in every matter of wisdom and understanding. Daniel also understood visions and dreams. He remained there until the first year of King Cyrus (Dan. 1:1-21). Commit to purity and reap greater learning and competence in your work.

Ask God for Wisdom During Crisis
Nebuchadnezzar threatened to kill the magicians and astrologers if they were unable to tell what he dreamt. After they said it was too difficult, Daniel spoke to Arioch, commander of the king's guard, with wisdom and tact asking why the king issued a harsh decree. Daniel went to the king and asked for time to interpret the dream. After Daniel explained the matter to his three friends, they prayed to God for mercy. During the night the mystery was revealed. Daniel praised God for His wisdom and power in setting up kings, removing them, giving wisdom to the wise, knowledge to the discerning, revealing deep and hidden things and knowing what lies in darkness. He praised Him for giving wisdom, power and making known the king's dream (Dan. 2:1-23). Ask God for wisdom and power during times of crisis.

Communicate God's Revelation with Humility to Unbelievers
Daniel told Arioch not to execute Babylon's wise men as he would interpret the dream to the king. Daniel said to the king that no wise man could explain the mystery except the God in heaven who revealed mysteries and future events to Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel did not take credit but said God wanted the king to know the dream's interpretation. The gold head was Nebuchadnezzar who ruled over all mankind and animals. After him, an inferior kingdom would
arise, next a bronze kingdom to rule over the earth and finally a fourth strong as iron to crush the others. The feet and toes consisted of baked clay and iron representing a divided kingdom with strong and brittle elements that would not remain united. God would set up a kingdom to crush and end all others, but would endure forever itself. It  represented the rock cut out of a mountain without human hands that broke to pieces the iron, bronze, clay, silver and gold (Dan. 2:24-45a). Communicate God's revelation with boldness, wisdom and humility to unbelievers.

Credit God for Wisdom Leading to Influence
After Daniel said the great God showed the king future events with a trustworthy interpretation, Nebuchadnezzar fell prostate before him, paid honor and ordered an offering and incense presented to Daniel. The king said that Daniel's god was God of gods, Lord of kings and revealer of mysteries. He placed Daniel in a high position, lavished many gifts, made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of the wise men. At Daniel's request, the king appointed his three friends adminstrators over the Babylon while he remained in the royal court (Dan. 2:45b-49). Credit God for wisdom and power leading to promotion, provision and influence.

Refuse Idol Worship While Trusting God During Stress
Nebuchadnezzar made a 90-foot-high gold image for everyone to worship, otherwise people were thrown into a blazing furnace. Some astrologers noticed Daniel's three friends not serving their gods or worshiping the gold image. Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego told the king they would not defend themselves as God could rescue them while inside the blazing furnace. Even if He did not, they would not serve Babylon's gods  or worship the gold image. The king was furious, ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter, commanded the three men to be tied and thrown in the furnace. The fire killed the men who carried them. The king saw four men walking in the fire unbound and unharmed with the fourth looking like the son of gods. The three men came out unharmed with no singing or scorching on their heads or robes and without smell of fire on them (Dan. 3:1-27). Refuse worshiping idols and trust God during stressful circumstances.

Watch Unbelievers Praise God Because of Believers' Sacrifice and Miracles
Nebuchadnezzar praised their God who sent His angel and rescued His servants. They trusted in Him, defied the king's command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own. The king decreed that anyone who said anything against their God would be killed since no other god could save in this way. The king promoted Shadrach, Meshacha and Abednego in Babylon (Dan. 3:28-30). Watch unbelievers praise God because of believers' sacrifice and related miracles.

How have you trusted God during a temptation, crisis or stressful circumstances? What was the benefit?

Ingredients in Building Up Body of Christ (Insights in Psalms)

The ingredients in building up the body of Christ include purity (confession of  sin), unity (worship and fellowship), service (seeking and obeying God), prayer (victory), humility (restoration and deliverance), study (full counsel of God) and obedience (light burden).

Purify Body of Christ By Confessing Sin
Hezekiah repaired the temple doors, told the Levites to consecrate themselves and removed defilement from the temple. The unfaithfulness to God and not burning incense or presenting offerings made them an object of scorn causing their families to be in captivity. The Levites served, ministered and burned incense to purify the entire temple with its altar of burnt offering, table and all its articles as they followed God's word for 16 days. Hezekiah gathered the city officials and went to the temple. He commanded the priests to offer seven each of bulls, rams, male lambs and male goats as a sin offering for the kingdom, sanctuary and Judah. They sprinkled their blood on the altar to atone for all Israel. He stationed Levites in the temple with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David. They praised the Lord with gladness and thank offerings. The service of the temple was reestablished with 600 bulls and 3000 sheep and goats sacrificed (2 Chron. 29:1-36). Purify the body of Christ as each member confesses sin.

Spend Time in Unity for Worship and Fellowship
Hezekiah invited Israel, Judah, Ephraim and Manasseh to celebrate the Passover in large numbers with letters sent by couriers. People returned to the God of Abraham by submitting to Him and coming back to the land because of His compassion. Many people scorned and ridiculed the couriers but some men of Asher, Manasseh and Zebulun humbled themselves and went to Jerusalem. In Judah, God's hand gave them unity of mind to obey what the king and his officials ordered in following God's word. Hekekiah prayed that God would pardon those who did not purify themselves but set their heart on seeking Him. He heard Hezekiah and healed the people. The Israelites celebrated the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days while the Levites sang with instruments of praise and fellowship offerings. The whole assemble agreed to celebrate the festival seven more days while Hezekiah and the officials provided a 2000 bulls and 17000 sheep and goats. Their prayer reached heaven, His holy dwelling place (2 Chron. 30:1-27).  Spend time in unity for worship and fellowship as the body of Christ.

Serve Body of Christ By Seeking and Obeying God
When the festival ended, the Israelites smashed the sacred stones, cut down the Asherah poles and destroyed the high places and altars in cities of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim and Manasseh. Hezekiah assigned the priests and Levites to divisions according to their duties to offer burnt and fellowship offerings, minister and sing praises at the gates of the Lord's dwelling. The king contributed and ordered people living in Jerusalem to give the portion due the priests and Levites so they could devote themselves to the Law of the Lord. The Israelites, including Israel and Judah, generously gave the firstfruits what their fields produced. The tithe of their herds and flocks was dedicated to the Lord and piled in heaps. The surplus was put in storerooms and  distributed to fellow priests including the little ones, wives, sons and daughters of the whole community. In everything Hezekiah undertook in serving God's temple by obeying His commands, he sought God, worked wholeheartedly and prospered (2 Chron. 31:1-21). Serve body of Christ by seeking God, obeying His commands and working wholeheartedly.

Cry to God to Defeat Your Spiritual Enemies
Sennacherib king of Assyria laid siege to Judah's fortified cities to conquer them for himself. Hezekiah consulted with his officials and blocked water from the springs outside the city. They repaired, built a new one and reinforced the broken sections of the wall and Jerusalem's supporting terraces. They made large numbers of weapons and shields. Hezekiah appointed military officers over the people and encouraged them to be strong, courageous and not fear because of God's greater power to fight their battles compared to Assyria's arm of flesh. The people gained confidence from what Hezekiah said. Sennacherib asked what they were basing their confidence upon since Hezekiah's misleading statements would result in death from hunger and thirst since other nations' gods failed to deliver. Hezekiah and Isaiah cried out in prayer to heaven and the Lord sent an angel who annihilated Sennacherib's army before his own sons killed him. Hezekiah became highly regarded by all nations. His heart became proud and did not respond to kindness after an illness nearly killed him. Hezekiah repented of his pride along with the people so God's wrath did not come during his days (2 Chron. 32:1-33). Cry to God confidently trusting Him to defeat your spiritual enemies.

Humble Yourself to Experience Restoration
Manasseh followed the evil practices of the nations, rebuild the high places his father Hezekiah demolished, sacrificed his sons in the fire, practiced sorcery and consulted mediums. He led Judah and Jerusalem astray so they did more evil than the nations the Lord destroyed before the Israelites. After Assyria took Manasseh prisoner, he sought God's favor and humbled himself greatly so He brought him back to Jerusalem. He rebuild the outer wall of Jerusalem making it higher and  stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah. He removed the foreign gods, image and altars from the temple. He restored the altar of the Lord and sacrificed fellowship and thanking offerings on it. Manasseh's son, Amon, did not humble himself before the Lord but increased his guilt. His officials conspired and assassinated him in his palace (2 Chron. 33:1-25). Humble yourself in the midst of sin to experience God's grace, restoration and deliverance.

Study Full Counsel of God
Josiah sought God, tore down the altars of Baal and crushed the idols while repairing and restoring the temple. They gave money to the carpenters and builders to purchase dressed stone, timber for joists and beams for the buildings that Judah's kings allowed to fall in ruin. The men worked faithfully and the Levites skilled in playing musical instruments supervised all the workers from job to job with some as secretaries, scribes and doorkeepers. Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law given through Moses. When Josiah heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes and called together all Judah's and Jerusalem's elders. Every person from the least to the greatest heard all the words of the Book of the Covenant. Josiah and the people renewed the covenant to obey all God's commands with all their heart and soul. He removed all the evil idols belonging to the Israelites so they could serve and follow the Lord (2 Chron. 34:1-33). Study the full counsel of God with all your heart and soul to serve and follow the Lord.

Obey God's Word Completely
Josiah celebrated the Passover and encouraged priests to serve the Lord's temple. He told the Levites who instructed Israel not to carry the ark on their shoulders but serve the Lord by standing in the holy place doing what the Lord commanded through Moses for their fellow countrymen. Josiah provided from his own possessions 30000 sheep and goats and 3000 cattle for the Passover offerings to support the lay people. They set aside the burnt offerings as written in the Book of Moses. The musicians, descendants of Asaph, were in the places prescribed by David. The gatekeepers did not leave their posts because fellow Levites made preparations for them. The Passover had not been observed like this in Israel since Samuel. Later Jerusalem fell when the Babylonian king spared no one. They set fire to God's temple, broke down Jerusalem's wall and burned the palaces. Nebuchadnezzar carried the remnant into exile to Babylon until Persia came to power. The land enjoyed Sabbath rests until 70 years were completed in fulfillment of  God's word through Jeremiah. Cyrus king of Persia made a proclamation saying God gave him all the kingdoms of the earth and appointed him to build a temple at Jerusalem (2 Chron. 35:1-36:23). Obey God's word completely so your yoke is easy and burden light.

Study and pray through Eph. 4:1-13.

Impart a Biblical Worldview in Your Community (Insights in Psalms)

1/27/2013

Picture
How do you impart a biblical worldview in your community? It involves overcoming spiritual enemies; mobilizing prayer and worship in all stages; making God's word understandable; reading, confessing sin and praising God's word; following a biblical worldview in all areas of life; involving the body of Christ in prayer walking and praising God; and obey God's word in all areas of life.

Resist Intimidation from Spiritual Enemies
Nehemiah's enemies asked to meet with him after he rebuilt and filled the wall's gaps. Because of the great project, Nehemiah said he could not stop the work. The fifth time Sanballat sent a letter saying the Jews plotted a revolt to make Nehemiah king. They tried to frighten the workers but Nehemiah prayed for strength. One tried to get Nehemiah to hide in the temple for safety so he would be discredited by sinning. They completed the wall in 52 days and their enemies lost their confidence realizing the work was done with God's help (Neh. 6:1-19). Resist intimidation from spiritual enemies by prayer so you can rebuild your community.

Mobilize Worship and Prayer
After rebuilding the wall and putting the doors in place, the gatekeepers, singers and Levites were appointed. Nehemiah put two men of integrity who feared God in charge of Jerusalem. They opened the gates when the sun was hot. Nehemiah assembled the nobles, officials and common people for registration by families who returned to Jerusalem from captivity. The list included male descendants of Israel, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, Solomon's servants, temple servants. Some heads of families contributed to the work (Neh. 7:1-73). Mobilize worship and prayer in all stages of rebuilding your community.

Make God's Word Understandable
People listened attentively to Ezra reading God's word and praised Him from daybreak till noon. The Levites instructed people in the Law making it clear and giving the meaning so they could understand what was read. Nehemiah told them to not grieve for the joy of the Lord was their strength. They celebrated with great joy because they understood the words. They found in God's word that they should live in booths during the feast of the seventh month. They built booths and lived in them with great joy (Neh. 8:1-18).  Make God's word understandable so people obey it.

Read and Praise God's Word
Israel read from the Book of the Law for a fourth of the day and spent a fourth confessing their sin, worshiping and praising God. They blessed His glorious and exalted name who made the heavens and gave life to everything. God made a covenant with Abram and gave His descendants the land of the Canaanites. He sent miraculous signs against Pharaoh and divided the Red Sea so they could pass through. He led them with a pillar of cloud and fire. God revealed His commands to Moses and gave them bread from heaven and water from the rock to take possession of the land. He forgave and provided manna and water 40 years in the desert. He gave them kingdoms and nations including Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan. He made their sons as numerous as the stars to take possession of houses filled with good things. When they disobeyed God and killed the prophets, God handed them over to their enemies who oppressed and conquered them. He gave them deliverers when they cried out to God. God acted faithfully but they did wrong from the Assyrian captivity until then. As slaves in the land given to their forefathers, kings ate its fruit and ruled over their bodies (Neh. 9:1-37). Read, confess sin and praise God's word while remembering His faithfulness through the years.

Follow a Biblical Worldview in All Areas of Life
They put a binding agreement in writing with their leaders, Levites and priests affixing their seals. The rest of the people separated themselves from neighboring peoples to follow God's law and obey His commands. They promised not to give their daughters or sons in marriage to peoples around them. They refused to buy on the Sabbath, did not work the land every seventh year and canceled debts. They gave a third of a shekel each year for the service of the house of God including grain, burnt and sin offerings to make atonement. They assumed responsibility to bring the firstfruits of their crops, fruit trees and firstborn of their sins, cattle, herds and flocks each year to the priests ministering there. They brought a tithe of their crops to the Levites committing not to neglect the house of God (Neh. 9:38-10:39). Follow a biblical worldview in your marriage, work, relationship with God, life balance, spiritual intimacy and financial giving.

Involve Body of Christ in Prayer Walking
The leaders settled in Jerusalem and others spread throughout the land. Nehemiah listed the leaders who settled in Jerusalem from the descendants of Judah and Benjamin, priests, Levites and gatekeepers. Other Israelites along with priests and Levites settled in every town of Judah. Nehemiah listed the priests and Levites who returned with Zerubbabel and Jeshua. The Levites celebrated the dedication of the wall with songs of thanksgiving, music with instruments, singers and choirs. The priests and Levites purified themselves before purifying the people, gates and walls. Nehemiah organized two large choirs to encircle the city. The first was led by Ezra and singers followed by princes, priests with trumpets and Levites with stringed instruments. The second choir went in the opposite direction and joined the first one in the Temple courts where they offered sacrifices and praised God. They appointed men to be in charge of contributions, firstfruits and tithes for the priests and Levites. They purified the singers and gatekeepers according to David and Solomon's commands. During the days of Nehemiah, all Israel contributed daily portions for the singers, gatekeepers and other Levites (Neh. 11:1-12:47). Involve the body of Christ in prayer walking and praising God.

Obey God's Word for Purity
They discovered in God's word that no Ammonite or Moabite should be admitted to the assembly of God. Nehemiah removed Tobiah from his room in the house of God. Nehemiah asked why the house of God was neglected by not giving offerings to the Levites. He warned men against selling food on the Sabbath. He made the people take an oath to not marry foreign women. He purified the priests and Levites of everything foreign (Neh. 13:1-31). Obey God's word in all areas of life to purify yourself and others.

Pray with others that God imparts a biblical worldview in your community in all areas of life. Consider the following:
1. Overcome spiritual enemies by mobilizing prayer and worship
2. Make God's word understandable
3. Read, confess sin and praise God's word as you prayer walk with others while reading, confessing sin and praising God's word
4. Obey God's word in all areas of life

Benefits of Holiness (Insights in Law)

11/10/2012

Picture
"I've discovered I cannot fight the demons of busyness directly. I cannot continuously say "No" to this or "No" to that, unless there is something ten times more attractive to choose. Saying "No" to my lust, my greed, my needs, and the world's powers takes an enormous amount of energy. The only hope is to find something so obviously real and attractive that I can devote all my energies to saying "Yes." In effect, I don't have time to pay any attention to the distractions"  (Henri J. M. Nouwen).

Holiness affects every part of your life to help you live skillfully. Other benefits of holiness include power to defeat spiritual enemies, gain God's blessings, prevent divorce, freed from bondage to sin, live long, forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses.

Defeat Spiritual Enemies
No one with his male organ cut off or a forbidden marriage, including descendants to the tenth generation, could enter the assembly of Lord. No Ammonite or Moabite could enter assembly of Lord to the tenth generation, because they did not meet Israel with food and water when they came out of Egypt, but hired Balaam to curse them. The Lord did not listen to Balaam, but turned his curse into blessing because of His love. They could not seek their peace or have good relations with them. Do not detest an Edomite or Egyptian since they were brothers and lived as aliens in their country. The sons of the third generation could enter the assembly of the Lord. Avoid evil things as Israel’s army faced its enemies. An unclean man went outside the camp and when evening came, he bathed and removed waste. Because God walked with them to defeat their enemies, they were holy and prevented indecency so He would not turn away from them (Deut. 23:1-14). Maintain physical and spiritual holiness so God’s power can defeat your spiritual enemies.

Gain God's Blessings
Do not mistreat a slave who escaped from his master, but let him live where he wanted. No children could be a cult prostitute or bring their wages into the house of the Lord to pay a vow. Do not charge brothers interest so God could bless them in the land they would possess. Pay vows made to the Lord and not be guilty of sin. They could eat grapes from a neighbor’s vineyard, but not carry them away (Deut. 23:15-25). Pursue sexual purity, fulfill verbal promises and treat people fairly in financial matters to gain God's blessings.

Prevent Divorce
If a man found his wife displeasing and then divorced her so she married someone else, the first husband could not take her as his wife since it was sinful. A man was exempt from military duty during his first year of marriage so he could stay home and bring happiness to his wife (Deut. 24:1-5). Spend extra time with your wife in the first year to build a strong marital foundation and prevent divorce.

Freed From Bondage to Sin
Refuse an upper millstone as pledge for a debt since it took a man’s livelihood as security. If a man kidnapped an Israelite who was treated as a slave or sold, the kidnapper must die to purge away evil. Follow carefully what Levitical priests instructed concerning leprous diseases while remembering what God did to Miriam coming out of Egypt. Show patience in collecting loans from a poor neighbor by allowing him to sleep in his cloak leading to thanks for this righteous act in God’s sight. Do not take advantage of a needy Israelite or alien servant, but pay his wages daily and not be guilty of sin. Fathers did not die for their sons nor sons for their fathers since each would die for their own sin. Leave some grain during harvest and do not deprive the alien, fatherless or widow by taking their cloak as pledge to remember how God redeemed them from slavery in Egypt (Deut. 24:6-22). Be financially kind to the needy and stress personal accountability since God freed you from the bondage of sin.

Live Long

Judges decided a dispute in court acquitting the innocent and condemning the wicked in proportion to his guilt. Do not muzzle an ox while he was threshing. The wife of a deceased brother living together would marry his brother to fulfill his duty and carry on the name of his dead brother. If a wife seized the private parts of a man struggling with her husband, cut off her hand and not show pity. Have accurate and honest weights or measures to live long in the land God gave since He hated dishonesty (Deut. 25:1-16). Use accurate and fair guidelines to decide court verdicts, set wages, show considerations toward extended family and determine pricing of goods and services to live long.

Forget Bad Memories and Overcome Weaknesses

Remember what Amalek did when they attacked the Israelites who lagged behind after leaving Egypt. Amalek showed they lacked the fear of God. After the Lord gave rest from their enemies, they blotted out the memory of the Amaleks (Deut. 25:17-19). Spiritual victory and strength enables you to forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses.

Which of the following benefits of holiness are most meaning to you right now: power to defeat spiritual enemies, gain God's blessings, prevent divorce, freed from bondage to sin, live long, forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses?
