Becoming Christ's Ambassador to Reconcile Others (Insights in NT)

"It is my hearts desire that I must be NO more, that He be KNOWN more" (Saheed B. Olalekan, Christian converted from Islam).

God brings troubles and hardships into your life so you can experience Christ's death and His resurrection power as His ambassador so others can be reconciled to God. Imagine if everyone in the body of Christ had a similar missional perspective? It would attract unbelievers to Christ.

God Shines Light
New Covenant ministry originated from God's mercy so they did not lose heart. They renounced secret, shameful and deceptive ways so as not to distort the God's word. In contrast, they presented the truth plainly to touch men's conscience in the sight of God. The gospel was veiled to those who were perishing since Satan blinded the minds of unbelievers preventing them from seeing the light and glory of Christ's gospel who is the image of God. Being servants, they preached Jesus Christ as Lord, not themselves. God made His light shine in their hearts so people could see the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Cor. 4:1-6). God shines the light and glory of Christ's gospel from believers' hearts to unbelievers' minds.

God Produces Life
The treasure of God's all-surpassing power was contrasted to being hard pressed but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair, persecuted but not abandoned and struck down but not destroyed. They carried and given over continually to death for Jesus' sake so His life could be revealed in their bodies. They experienced death so others could have life. They spoke after believing that God's resurrection power would raise them up with Christ so His grace could benefit them causing thanksgiving for the glory of God (2 Cor. 4:7-15). God produces life in others as you identify with and speak of Christ's death and resurrection in your circumstances.

God Imparts Eternal Glory
They wasted away outwardly, but renewed inwardly day by day. Light and momentary troubles produced an eternal glory that far outweighed them all. Instead of fixing your eyes on seen and temporal matters, they focused on the unseen and eternal (2 Cor. 4:16-18). God imparts eternal glory through light and momentary troubles.

God Rewards Believers
God has an eternal house in heaven after destroying their earthly tent. They groaned and longed to be clothed with their heavenly dwelling in order to experience life. God gave them the Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing the future. They lived by faith, not by sight. Because they preferred to be at home with Christ, their goal was to please Him. Everyone appeared before the judgment seat of Christ to receive what was due them for things done in the body, whether good or bad (2 Cor. 5:1-10). God rewards believers who live by faith in pleasing Him.

God Reconciles People
Knowing the fear of the Lord, they persuade men. They lived transparent lives from the heart before God and others. God's love motivated them to live for Him who died and was raised again on their behalf. Instead of regarding people from a worldly perspective, they valued the new creation through Christ. Because God reconciled them to Himself through Christ, He gave them the ministry of reconciliation. God reconciled the world to Himself in Christ by not counting men's sins against them and committing to them the message of reconciliation. As Christ's ambassadors, God made His appeal through them to be reconciled to God. Jesus became sin for them so in Him they would become the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:11-21). God reconciles people to Himself as you share and people believe the message of Christ's death on their behalf.

God Reveals Christ's Death and Resurrection
Paul and his team urged them to not receive God's grace in vain for He helped them in the day of salvation and that day was now. They put no stumbling block in anyone's way so their ministry would be commended and not discredited as they endured troubles, hardships, distresses, beatings, imprisonments, riots, hard work, sleepless nights and hunger. They showed the character of purity, understanding, patience and kindness relying on the Holy Spirit in sincere love, truthful speech and the power of God.  They put on the weapons of righteousness through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report. They were genuine but others regarded them as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, yet living on; beaten, yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, yet possessing everything (2 Cor. 6:1-10). God reveals Christ's death and resurrection through the sufferings of His ambassadors.

God Displays Fatherhood
They urged the Corinthians to open their hearts wide since Paul and his team spoke freely not withholding their affections. They commanded the Corinthians not to be yoked with unbelievers since righteousness and wickedness, light and darkness, and Christ and Belial have no fellowship and harmony together. Believers have nothing  in common with unbelievers since the temple of God and idols cannot agree. As the temple of the living God, He said, "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." Therefore, they were to be separate and touch no unclean thing as sons and daughters to God the Father (2 Cor. 6:11-18). God displays Fatherhood as His sons and daughters fellowship together with transparency and harmony.

Consider this quote by Martyn Lloyd-Jones and determine how your life and congregation should be different based on 2 Cor. 4-6:
"People seem to think that the masses are outside the Christian church because our evangelistic methods are not what they ought to be. That is not the answer. People are outside the church because looking at us they say, "What is the point of being Christians? - look at them!" They are judging Christ by you and me. And you cannot stop them and you cannot blame them."

What the Glory of His Grace Produces (Insights in NT)

"We tend to give an unbeliever just enough of the gospel to get him or her to pray a prayer to receive Christ. Then we immediately put the gospel on the shelf, so to speak, and go on to the duties of discipleship. The grace that brought salvation to you is the same grace that teaches or disciplines you. But you must respond on the basis of grace, not law" (Jerry Bridges). God originates all things for His glory through grace. Being immersed in His grace produces the motivation and power to serve Christ.

Worship Him
God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Elijah pleaded with God against Israel when they killed His prophets, tore down His altars and tried killing him. God said He reserved a remnant of 7,000 chosen by grace who did not worship Baal. Grace supersedes works. Those chosen among Israel obtained what they sought but the rest were hardened. As it was written, God gave them a spirit of stupor so their eyes could not see and their ears could not hear. David said their table became a snare, trap and stumbling block (Rom. 11:1-10). God chose a remnant among Israel according to grace  so they could worship Him.

Reconcile World
Because of their transgression, salvation came to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous. Paul as an apostle to the Gentiles hoped to arouse Israel to envy and save some of them. Their rejection is riches and reconciliation of the world. Israel's acceptance is life from the dead since the root and branches are holy. Some of the branches were broken off because of unbelief so Gentiles could be grafted in as the wild olive shoot and share in the nourishing sap from the olive root. Do not be boastful but continue in his kindness through faith to prevent being cut off. If God grafted branches into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will natural branches (Israel) be grafted into their own olive tree through faith (Rom. 11:11-24). God saved Gentiles by grace through faith using sin and disobedience to reconcile the world.

Remove Sins
Israel experienced a partial hardening until the full number of  Gentiles came in. All Israel will eventually be saved when the Deliverer comes from Zion to remove ungodliness from Jacob and establishes His covenant to take away their sins. They were enemies concerning the gospel, but election allowed God to love them through the patriarchs. God's gifts and His call are irrevocable. Gentiles who were disobedient received mercy as a result of Israel's disobedience. God bound all men over to darkness so He might show mercy to all (Rom. 11:25-32). God called Israel and Gentiles to salvation by taking away their sins.

Show Glory
Oh, the depths of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways. No one knows God's mind or be His counselor. You cannot give to God and be paid back. God originated all things for His glory (Rom. 11:33-36). God originated all things to show His glory beyond comprehension.

Offer Body
The most appropriate response to God's mercy is offering your body as a living and holy sacrifice for a spiritual service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind to prove the good, acceptable and perfect will of God (Rom. 12:1-2). Offer your body as a living sacrifice without compromise by renewing your mind to prove God's perfect will.

Exercise Gifts
Think realistically without boasting according to the faith God gives you. Each member of Christ's one body belong to each other with different functions. We have different spiritual gifts according to the grace given us like prophesying according to the proportion of his faith, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving generously to the needs of  others, leadership that governs diligently and showing mercy cheerfully (Rom. 12:3-8). Discover and exercise your spiritual gifts by thinking clearly according to the faith God gives you.

Serve Others
Offer sincere love by hating evil and clinging to good.  Be devoted in brotherly love by honoring others above yourself. Serve the Lord zealously with spiritual fervor. Rejoice in hope, patient in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contribute to the needs of the saints and practice hospitality. Bless and do not curse those who persecute you. Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another by associating with the lowly without conceit. Do not repay evil for evil but do what is right. Work hard being at peace with all men. Let God take vengeance since He will repay injustice. If your enemy is hungry, feed him, if he is thirsty, give him a drink for you are heaping coals upon his head. Do  not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:9-21). Serve others by honoring and meeting real needs.

Meditate and revel in the truths of God's grace producing the following: worshiping Him, reconciling the world, removing sin, showing His glory, offering your body as a living and holy sacrifice, exercising spiritual gifts and serving others by honoring and meeting real needs.

Five Offerings That Offer A Fresh Start (Insights in Law)

Beer commercials say to get all the gusto you can from a party lifestyle. Motivational speakers say you should have a positive mental attitude to be successful. The world says to pursue professional careers like being a doctor, lawyer or engineer to live the American dream. The first five chapters of Leviticus explain five different offerings that offer a fresh start to real life.

Bring a burnt offering of a male animal without defect at the doorway of the tent of meeting so it may be accepted as reconciliation of your sin before God.  Aaron’s sons, the priests, offered up the blood and sprinkled it on the altar at the doorway of tent of meeting. Priest put it on fire and offered it up in smoke on the altar as a soothing aroma to the Lord. The poor offered a burnt offering of birds (Lev. 1:1-17). Christ's sacrificial death on the cross forgives your sins and reconciles you to God.

Bring a grain offering to the Lord of fine flour, pour oil and put frankincense on it. Take a handful to the priests so they can offer it up in smoke as a soothing aroma to the Lord. The remainder belonged to Aaron and his sons as a thing most holy. When the grain offering was baked in an oven, it contained unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, presented to the priest and brought to the altar. No grain offering would be made with leaven, but seasoned with salt of the covenant of God (Lev. 2:1-13). Trusting Christ's substitutionary death for sin begins your personal relationship with God.

A grain offering with grits of new growth had oil and incense put on it. The priest offered it up in smoke  as an offering by fire to the Lord (Lev. 2:14-16). Pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to grow in intimacy with God.

They offered a peace offering by laying a hand on a head of an animal without defect and then killing it at the doorway of the tent of meeting. Aaron's sons, the priests, sprinkled blood around the altar and offered a burnt offering as smoke for a soothing aroma to Lord. This was a perpetual and permanent statute throughout all generations for all homes (Lev. 3:1-17). Continuous surrender to God through prayer deepens the peace you experience in your relationship with God.

If a common person, whole congregation, leader or priest sinned unintentionally violating what the Lord commanded not to be done that brought guilt on the people, he offered a bull without defect as a sin offering. He laid his hand on the bull’s head before killing it. The priest dipped his finger in the blood and sprinkled some of it seven times before the Lord in front of the veil of the sanctuary. The priest put blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense and poured all of it at the base of the altar of burnt offering. After removing pieces of the animal, he brought the rest of the bull to a clean place outside the camp where the ashes were burned (Lev. 4:1-35). Everyone must confess known and unknown sin to satisfy God's holiness and restore experiential peace with God.

If a person sinned after he had known about an oath while a witness and did not tell it, then he bore the guilt. If a person swore thoughtlessly to do evil with an oath, he would be guilty once he knew it. He would confess his sin and bring a guilt offering to the Lord for the sin committed along with a female lamb, goat or smaller animals based on what he could afford. The priest made atonement on his behalf for the sin and sprinkled blood of the sin offering on the side of altar (Lev. 5:1-13). Confess sin of not following through with your promises or vows to relieve guilt.

If person acted unfaithfully and sinned  unintentionally against the Lord’s holy things, then he brought a guilt offering to the Lord. The priest made atonement for the forgiveness of sin. He brought a ram without defect, made restitution against the holy things and added a fifth part of it to give to the priest for atonement as a guilt offering. If he was unaware of the sin, he was still guilty (Lev. 5:14-19). Offer restitution if it involves material harm or property to restore relationship with another person.

Have you thanked God for the reconciling work of Jesus Christ in forgiving your sins on the cross? If you have not experienced reconciliation, trust Christ's work to begin your relationship with God. To grow in intimacy with God, pray for the power of the Holy Spirit. Continually surrender to God through prayer to experience experiential peace. Confess all known and unknown sin to restore peace in your relationship with God. Confess sin of not following through with your vows and promises to relieve guilt. Offer restitution if it involves material harm to someone so you restore your relationship with him.

Watch What God Does When You Are Reconciled to Him (Insights in Law)

Human strategies cut us off from the greatest blessings that only come from God. Watch what God does when you are reconciled to Him and grow in your personal relationship with God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God spoke from the tent of meeting that any man should bring a male animal without defect as a burnt offering to the doorway of the tent of meeting. He laid his hand on the bull's head to be accepted as he made atonement for himself. After it was killed, Aaron's sons, the priests, sprinkled the blood on the altar at the doorway of the tent of meeting. They burned the pieces of the animal on the altar as a burnt offering. The priests offered up the smoke as a soothing aroma to the Lord (Lev. 1:1-9). Christ's sacrificial death on the cross forgives your sin and reconciles you to God.

Offer the male sheep or goats without defect as a burnt offering that is killed on the side of the altar northward before the Lord. Aaron's sons sprinkled its blood on the altar and burned the cut up pieces  on the fire. Wash the entrails and legs with water. The priest offered up the smoke as a smoothing aroma to the Lord (Lev. 1:10-13). Trust in Christ's death completely for the forgiveness of your sin.

Make burnt offering of turtledoves or young pigeons if birds are used. The priest brought it on the altar, offered it up in smoke and drained its blood on the side of the altar as a soothing aroma to the Lord (Lev. 1:14-17). God accepts everyone, even the poor, when they have faith in Christ's death on the cross.

Pour oil and put frankincense on a grain offering of fine flour to the Lord. The priest offered up a handful in smoke as a soothing aroma to the Lord. The remainder of the most holy of offerings belonged to Aaron and his sons (Lev. 2:1-3). Christ's sacrificial death on the cross enables you to have a relationship with God.

The grain offering baked in an oven, griddle or pan contained unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil. The priest brought it to the altar and offered it up in smoke as a soothing aroma to the Lord (Lev. 2:4-10).  God provides the Holy Spirit to allow you to grow in your relationship with God.

Make no grain offering with leaven or honey. Bring offering of first fruits to the Lord but it should not ascend for a soothing aroma on the altar. Season with salt every grain offering so the salt of the covenant of God is not lacking from it (Lev. 2:11-13). God desires an intimate relationship with you.

Put oil and lay incense on a grain offering of early ripened things or grits of new growth. Priest offered up in smoke its memorial  portion (Lev. 2:14-16). Praying for the power of the Holy Spirit causes growth in your relationship with God.

Thank God for reconciling you to Him through Christ's sacrificial death for your sins. Pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to cause growth and intimacy in your relationship with God.
