Value Spiritual Transformation

I walked in the television room of the dorm. Bill left his card game and walked toward me. He was the first person to greet me after my move from the fraternity to the dorm. After he helped me set up my stereo, we got into a discussion about Jesus. “Bill, you can’t take the Bible literally. It’s full of fairy tales,” I said, “Stories like Noah’s ark and parting of the Red Sea didn’t really happen. Miracles don’t happen in real life!” This dialogue began my journey to knowing Christ personally and making Him Lord.

Knowing the Bible, believing God exists, going to church, having a social media profile saying "Christian," speaking Christian language, and saying Jesus is Lord doesn’t mean I’m approved  not mean you are making Jesus Lord in your life. If we don’t make Christ Lord, we won’t seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).

1. Embrace Christ’s authority
Religious leaders asked who gave Jesus authority when He taught people in the temple and preached the gospel. Jesus asked if John's baptism was from heaven or from men. Since the religious leaders wouldn't answer his question, Jesus refused answering them too (Luke 20:1-8). Embrace Christ’s authority so your ministry won’t go unnoticed.

2. Accept Christ as church’s foundation
Jesus told a parable about a vineyard owner sending three slaves to vine-growers to get produce. Each time they beat the slave and sent him away empty-handed. When the owner sent his beloved son who was killed by the vine-growers, he planned to destroy them and give the vineyard to others. Jesus said, "The stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief cornerstone. Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust" (Luke 20:9-18). Accept Christ as church’s foundation for protection.

3. Balance worldly and spiritual responsibilities
The religious leaders feared the people, and tried to kill and catch Jesus in what He said, because they knew He spoke this parable against them. They asked if was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not. Jesus detected their trickery and took a denarius. He said, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's." They marveled at His answer and became silent (Luke 20:19-26). Balance spiritual and worldly responsibilities to please Jesus.

4. Value supernatural transformation
Christ told the Sadducees who believe in no resurrection that people marry on earth, but are like angels and unmarried in heaven. The dead are raised since He is God of the living. The Sadducees lost courage to question Him any longer (Luke 20:27-40). Value spiritual transformation because He’s God.

5. Rejoice in Christ’s victory
Christ asked how they could say that He’s David's son when he called Him 'Lord.' David said for the Lord to sit at His right hand until He made His enemies a footstool for His feet (Luke 20:41-44). Rejoice in Christ’s victory over spiritual enemies.

6. Seek humility
Christ told His disciples to beware of the scribes who love respectful greetings and chief seats in the synagogues but devour widows' houses and offer long prayers for appearance's sake. They will receive greater condemnation (Luke 20:45-47). Seek humility instead of power and position.

Further Thought: Ask God to help you value supernatural transformation as you balance your spiritual and worldly responsibilities while putting Christ’s first.

How to Regain Purpose and Hope

Our mission agency, Christ For the City Int’l, spent a day serving during our bi-annual board meetings. During lunch, I sat down next to a man eating alone. I asked, “How’s your day going?”

After an awkward pause, he opened up. I sensed a melancholy spirit. He said his wife of 34 years died in his arms four years ago. She was the love of his life with a “beautiful spirit inside and out.”

This man turned to alcohol and his life spiraled out of control. He remarried, but temporarily lost touch with his second wife. I prayed out loud. Tears seeped out of his eyes. This man once had been a deacon in an evangelical church, but now seemed to have lost all hope.

How do we lose purpose and hope? How do we regain it?

We find a clue in Jesus’ temptations in the wilderness, mentioned three times (Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-12). He was led by the Spirit and tempted by the devil. The first was self-gratification (lust of the flesh). If you’re the Son of God, meet the physical need by turning stones into bread. Jesus, like us, need God’s word to withstand the temptation (Matthew 4:1-4).

The second temptation was self-promotion (lust of the eyes). The devil had Jesus stand on the highest point of the temple and throw Himself down. The devil twisted Scripture. Jesus said not to put God to the test (Matthew 4:5-7).

The third temptation was self-exaltation (boastful pride of life). The devil showed all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor so Jesus would worship him. Jesus said to worship and serve God only (Matthew 4:8-11).

Before the temptations, Jesus had a mountain top experience--heaven was opened, saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and heard an affirming voice of unconditional love from heaven (Matthew 3:16-17). When things go well and you feel blessed, beware the devil will blast you with chaos, confusion, and criticism.

After the temptations, Jesus preached, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” Jesus told Peter. Andrew, James, and John to follow Him to become fishers of men. (Matthew 4:17-22). The devil doesn’t want you to share the gospel or disciple others.

On the encouraging side, angels, ministering spirits to serve believers, helped Jesus and will attend to you (Mark 1:12-13; Hebrews 1:14).

If we resist temptation, share our faith and begin discipling others, evil forces will come against us. We must walk in Christ’s authority and drive out evil spirits (Mark 1:21-28).

Because we’re in a spiritual battle, we must fight with the spiritual weapons of prayer and God’s word.
  • It’s important we follow the example of Jesus and pray, preferably early in the morning (Mark 1:35).
The devil is crafty and leaves us until an opportune time. He knows our weaknesses. In Jesus’ case, everyone praised Him as the word got around (Luke 4:13-15). Seeking the praise of others may prevent us from sharing the gospel and discipling others.

Don’t love the world, which include the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and boastful pride of life. Those who do God’s will live forever (1 John 2:15-17).

The greatest purpose and hope we have in life are to follow Jesus in catching men for Him.

Theology Leads to Godly Living (Insights in NT)

Often people devalue theology, but it should lead to godly living. Understanding Christ's Melchizedek priesthood of indestructible life helps you intercede in His name for deliverance from sin and walk in the New Covenant with God's word in your heart and mind. Understanding the Old Testament tabernacle helps you prioritize Christ's sacrifice on the cross so you trust His blood for forgiveness of sin and the Holy Spirit to defeat spiritual enemies as you draw near to God, encourage others and accept persecution for eternal reward.

Exalt in Christ's Melchizedek Priesthood of Indestructible Life
Melchizedek blessed Abraham who gave him a tenth of everything. As the king of righteousness and peace without genealogy, Melchizedek remained a priest forever like the Son of God. Levi collected the tenth and also paid it through Abraham being unborn in the body of his ancestor. Because the Melchizedek priesthood brought perfection and superseded the Levitical priesthood, a change of law was required. Being a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek was based on the power of an indestructible life. The former, weak and useless Levitical regulation was set aside for a better hope so one could draw near to God. Jesus guaranteed a better covenant being a priest forever because of God's oath of not changing His mind (Heb. 7:1-22). Exalt in Christ's Melchizedek priesthood of indestructible life.

Intercede for Deliverance From Bondage to Sin
Jesus lived forever as a permanent priesthood. He was able to save completely those who came to God through Him because He always lived to make intercede for them. This high priest met peoples' needs because He was holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners and exalted above the heavens. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when He offered Himself. The oath appointed the Son who was made perfect forever (Heb. 7:23-28). Intercede for deliverance from bondage to sin.

Walk with God's Word in Heart and Mind
This high priest sat down at the right hand of the Majesty's throne in heaven. Earthly priests served as a copy and shadow of what was in heaven. God warned Moses to build the tabernacle according to His pattern shown on the mountain. Jesus' ministry, mediated covenant and promises were superior to the old one. He made a new covenant with the house of Israel and Judah different than the one broken by their forefathers after leading them out of Egypt. He put His laws in their minds and wrote them on their hearts to be their God and they His people. A man no longer taught His neighbor to know the Lord because they all knew Him. He forgave their wickedness and did not remember their sins. This new covenant made the old one obsolete (Heb. 8:1-13). Walk in new covenant with God's word in your heart and mind.

Understand Tabernacle Foreshadows Christ's Sacrifice for Sin
The first covenant had a tabernacle set up with a lampstand, table and consecrated bread in the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was the Most Holy Place with the golden altar of incense, gold-covered ark containing the gold jar of manna, Aaron's rod that budded and stone tablets of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of Glory overshadowing the place of atonement. The priests entered regularly into the outer room for their ministry. In the inner room, the high priest offered blood once a year for himself and the peoples' sins committed ignorantly. These external regulations could not clear the worshipers' conscience and were applied until the time of the new order (Heb. 9:1-10). Understand old covenant tabernacle foreshadows Christ's sacrifice for sin.

Trust Christ's Blood for Forgiveness of Sin
Christ entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood obtaining eternal redemption. The sprinkling of the blood of goats, bulls and the ashes of a heifer sanctified people to be outwardly clean. Christ's blood cleansed consciences from acts leading to death so people may serve the living God. Christ as mediator of a new covenant enabled people to receive the eternal inheritance and be set free from sins committed under the first covenant. The law required everything to be cleansed with blood. Without the shedding of blood there was no forgiveness. Christ appeared once for all to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Man was destined to die once and then to face judgment. Christ was sacrificed once to take away sins and would appear a second time to bring salvation to those who waited for Him (Heb. 9:11-28). Trust Christ's shed blood on the cross for the forgiveness of sin.

Trust Holy Spirit By Waiting for Christ to Defeat Spiritual Enemies
The law was a shadow and not the reality of the good things to come. Yearly sacrifices could never make people perfect since they were a reminder of sins. It was impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. After Christ did His will by making everyone holy through His one sacrifice, He sat down at God's right hand. Since that time, He waited for His enemies to be made His footstool. The Holy Spirit testified that He would put His laws in their hearts, write them on their minds and not remember their sins (Heb. 10:1-18). Trust Holy Spirit by waiting for Christ to defeat spiritual enemies.

Draw Near to God While Encouraging Others and Accepting Persecution for Eternal Reward
Believers confidently entered the Most Holy Place by Jesus' blood in drawing near to God. They held onto hope with a sincere heart cleansed from a guilty conscience in full assurance of faith and bodies washed with pure water. They considered how to spur one another toward love and good deeds. They kept meeting together for encouragement until the Day approached. No sacrifice for sin was left, but God judged His enemies who kept sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth. He punished and took revenge on those who insulted the Spirit of grace. His people were publicly exposed to insult and persecution, sympathized with those in prison and accepted the confiscation of their property knowing they had better and lasting possessions. Instead of throwing away confidence of rich reward, they persevered in doing God's will and received His promises in living by faith and not shrinking back (Heb. 10:19-39). Draw near to God while encouraging others and accepting persecution for eternal reward.

Understanding Christ's Melchizedek priesthood of indestructible life helps you do the following:
1. Intercede in His name for deliverance from sin
2. Walk in the New Covenant with God's word in your heart and mind.
Understanding the Old Testament tabernacle helps you do the following:
1. Prioritize Christ's sacrifice on the cross
2. Trust His blood for forgiveness of sin
3. Trust the Holy Spirit to defeat spiritual enemies
4. Draw near to God
5. Encourage others

How to Defeat Sin and Restore Godly Foundations (Insights in Prophets)

To defeat sin and restore Godly foundations, know first of all that sin wounds people. Follow Christ's leadership in hating coveting, defrauding and stealing. Be filled with the Spirit to confront injustice, falsehood and profiteering, which opens the door to teach God's word and restore His kingship and provision. Then His people are in position to trust God in shepherding the body of Christ and destroying spiritual enemies. This provides the context to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God for satisfaction and success. The spiritual maturity obtained enables one to pray with total confidence in God to defeat sin.

Know Sin Wounds People and Destroys Godly Foundations
God told Micah during the reigns of Judah's kings including Hezekiah a vision about Samaria and Jerusalem because of their sins. He made Samaria a heap of rubble, laid bare her foundations, broke idols and destroyed her images. Micah wept, went naked and moaned like an owl because her wound came to Judah and Jerusalem having no protection and relief. Aczib deceived Israel's kings who were conquered and exiled (Micah 1:1-16). Know that sin wounds people and destroys godly foundations.

Follow Christ's Leadership in Hating Coveting, Defrauding and Stealing
Those who plotted evil coveted others' possessions and defrauded men of their inheritance. God planned disaster against them that led to ridicule and ruin so no one was in the assembly of the Lord. False prophets said they should not prophesy about these things. God's word did good to those whose ways were upright. Stealing from the rich, taking homes from women and removing blessings from children became acceptable. God gathered the remnant of Israel like a flock with the Lord as their head (Micah 2:1-13). Follow Christ's leadership in hating coveting, defrauding and stealing others' possessions.

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit to Confront Injustice, Falsehood and Profiteering
God did not answer Israel's leaders' prayers who hated justice and took advantage of His people by doing evil. The prophets led His people astray proclaiming peace without visions or answers to their prayers. Micah was filled with power, God's Spirit and justice to tell Jacob and Israel their sin. He warned leaders who despised justice, distorted what was right, build Jerusalem with bloodshed and wickedness, took bribes and profited by their ministries. Jerusalem became rubble and the temple hill was overgrown with thickets (Micah 3:1-12). Be filled with the Holy Spirit to confront injustice, falsehood and profiteering in ministry.

Teach God's Word to Restore His Kingship, Strength and Provision
In the last days, the Lord's temple would be established with people streaming to it as they were taught His ways and walked in His paths. God's word would go out from Jerusalem to judge and settle disputes between many nations. They would beat their swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks without fear so they could follow God. He gathered the lame, assembled the exiles and those grieving as a strong remnant under the Lord's rule. He would restore dominion and kingship to Jerusalem while redeeming them from their enemies according to His plan. He gave horns of iron and hoofs of bronze to break nations and used their wealth for the Lord (Micah 4:1-13). Teach God's word to restore His kingship, strength and provision.

Trust God to Shepherd the Body of Christ and Destroy Spiritual Enemies
From small Bethlehem, a ruler over Israel would be born from days of eternity. He would shepherd His flock in the Lord's strength in the name of God so they could live securely. His greatness would reach around the world as their peace. The remnant of Jacob would be among many nations like a lion among the beasts to triumph over enemies. God would destroy chariots, cities, strongholds, witchcraft and carved images so they could no longer cast spells and bow down to the work of their hands (Micah 5:1-15). Trust God to shepherd the body of Christ and destroy spiritual enemies.

Act Justly, Love Mercy and Walk Humbly with God for Satisfaction and Success
The Lord accused Israel of not knowing the Lord's righteous acts. Should Micah come before the Lord with a burnt offering and would He be pleased with thousands of rams and 10,000 rivers of oil? He showed what was good by acting justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with God. The fear of the Lord and heeding the rod were wisdom. Sin caused ruin. They ate but not satisfied, stored up but saved nothing, planted but harvested nothing, pressed olives but used no oil  and crushed grapes but drank no wine. They followed Ahab's traditions to bear the scorn of nations (Micah 6:1-16). Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God for satisfaction and success.

Pray with Total Confidence in God to Defeat Sin
The godly were swept from the land with no righteous person left. All men shed blood, rulers demanded bribes and the powerful conspired and dictated their desires. They should put no confidence in a friend and be careful of their words since enemies were members of their household. He waited for God since He heard his prayer. He was Israel's light, they bore God's wrath because of sin and saw their enemies' downfall. A day would come to build walls and extend boundaries with people coming to Israel from Assyria, Egypt and from sea to sea. God would show His wonders as they shepherded His people. Nations would be ashamed, deprived of power, feared Israel and turned to reverence God. No one was like Him who pardoned sin, forgave transgression and delighted to show mercy. God showed compassion, tread sins underfoot and hurled all their iniquities into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:1-20). Pray with total confidence in God to defeat sin.

To defeat sin and restore Godly foundations:
1. Know that sin wounds people
2. Follow Christ's leadership in hating coveting, defrauding and stealing
3. Be filled with the Spirit to confront injustice, falsehood and profiteering
The above three items open the door to:
4. Teach God's word and restore His kingship and provision Then His people are in position to:
5. Trust God to shepherd the body of Christ and destroy spiritual enemies
This provides the context to:
6. Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God for satisfaction and success
The spiritual maturity obtained enables one to:
7. Pray with total confidence in God to defeat sin.

Empower People So They Seek the Spiritual Welfare of Others (Insights in Prophets)

4/1/2013

Picture
Most people are not empowered to serve others by seeking their spiritual welfare. In Ezek. 30-34, we learned that one serves others by seeking their spiritual welfare through preparing for Christ's coming, humbling before God, warning people to turn away from sin, practicing God's word, ministering with compassion to the needy, providing accurate and clear biblical teaching, and rescuing people from slavery to sin and false teaching.

How do we empower people so they can seek the spiritual welfare of others? Ezekiel 35 explains the negative: reap death when you harbor hatred. In the positive, receive a new heart to motivate obedience, speak God's word to build up the body of Christ, preserve the unity of the Spirit, trust His sovereignty to defeat spiritual enemies, cleanse the land of sin to display His glory and trust God to free you from the shame of sin.

Reap Death When You Harbor Hatred
God told Ezekiel to prophesy that He was against Edom and ruined their cities to make them desolate. They harbored  an ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites to the sword when their punishment reached its climax. God delivered Edom over to bloodshed since they did not hate it. They said two nations were theirs as a possession. God judged their anger and jealousy because of hatred. They would know the Lord heard how they boasted against Him without restraint and rejoiced when Israel became desolate (Ezek. 35;1-15). Reap death when you harbor hatred and boast against God.

Receive a New Heart to Motivate Obedience
God said enemies ravaged Israel to become their possession and object of people's malicious talk. Because they plundered Israel with malice in their hearts, nations around them were scorned like them. Israel produced fruit and God looked upon them with favor. He multiplied the people, inhabited the towns and rebuilt the ruins so they prospered more than before. Israel possessed the nations and never were deprived again of their  children. God scattered Israel through the countries because they profaned His name. He cleansed them from all impurities and idols. He gave them a new heart and put a new spirit in them. He removed their heart of stone and gave them a heart of flesh. He put His Spirit in them to move them to obey God's laws. God increased the fruit of trees and crops so they no longer suffered disgrace because of famine. The nations knew that He rebuilt what was destroyed and replanted what was desolate (Ezek. 36:1-38). Receive a new heart of flesh and spirit that motivates obedience, multiplies disciples and rebuilds cities.

Speak God's Word to Awaken Body of Christ
The Lord told Ezekiel to prophesy so dry bones heard God's word in the middle of a valley. He attached tendons, made flesh, covered with skin and put breath in them so they came to life and knew He was the Lord. The bones came together, tendons and flesh appeared, and skin covered them. Ezekiel prophesied that breath came from the four winds and breathed into the slain so they lived as a vast army, representing Israel. He put His Spirit in them to live so they settled in their own land (Ezek. 37:1-14). Speak God's word to awaken the body of Christ to life through the Holy Spirit.

Preserve the Unity of the Spirit
Ezekiel wrote on two sticks of wood, "Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him" and "Ephraim's stick, belonging to Joseph and all the house of Israel associated with him." God commanded Ezekiel to join them together as one stick to become one in his hand. It represented one nation and one king without division into two kingdoms. They no longer defiled themselves with idols for God saved and cleansed them from all backsliding. David became king and one shepherd so the nation could follow God's laws. He made a covenant of peace eternally to make them His dwelling place. The nations knew the Lord made Israel holy (Ezek. 37:15-28). Preserve the unity of the Spirit by obeying God's word and becoming His dwelling place.

Trust God's Sovereignty to Defeat Spiritual Enemies
Ezekiel prophesied against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, Persia, Cush and Put. Israel along with many nations would plunder the land. Gog would attack Israel. God's wrath through a great earthquake would overturn mountains and walls. God would execute judgment upon Gog and many nations with plague, bloodshed, torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur. He would show His greatness and holiness to make Himself known in the nations (Ezek. 38:1-23). Trust God's sovereignty to defeat spiritual enemies and show His greatness and holiness to the world.

Cleanse the Land of Sin to Display God's Glory
God would send fire against Magog and those who lived in safety. He would make known His holy name to Israel. For seven years they would use their weapons as fuel. For seven months Israel would bury Gog's soldiers in the valley of those who traveled east toward the Dead Sea. Men would be regularly employed to cleanse the land. God would call a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel to eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth like they were animals. He would display His glory among the nations so Israel knew He was the Lord. Nations would know that Israel went into exile for their sin because they were unfaithful to Him (Ezek. 39:1-24). Cleanse the land of sin to display God's glory to the world so His people know He is Lord.

Trust God to Free You from Shame of Sin
God would bring Jacob back from captivity and be zealous for His holy name. They would forget their shame and unfaithfulness when they lived in safety. God would show His holiness in the sight of many nations so they would know He was Lord. He would pour out His Spirit on the house of Israel (Ezek. 39:25-29). Trust God to free you from the shame of sin through the Holy Spirit and show His holiness to the world.

The following explains how to empower people so they seek the spiritual welfare of others:
1. Understand that you reap death when you harbor hatred

2. Receive a new heart to motivate obedience
3. Speak God's word to awaken the body of Christ
4. Preserve the unity of the Spirit

5. Trust His sovereignty to defeat spiritual enemies
6. Cleanse the land of sin to display His glory
7. Trust God to free you from the shame of sin

Recognize Benefits of Your Powerlessness and God's Power (Insights in Psalms)

3/8/2013

Picture
The benefits of recognizing your powerlessness and God's power in city-wide kingdom ministry include:
1. Preserve unity of spirit by listening to counsel of older mentors
2. Resist subjection to unrighteous leaders by resisting over-confidence and pride
3. Defeat spiritual enemies by calling upon God as your leader
4. Prevent men from prevailing by recognizing His power
5. Be rewarded for your work being strong and not giving up
6. Be strengthened and delivered when fully committed to God
7. Produce fear of Lord and financial provision by mobilizing teaching ambassadors and spiritual warriors

Preserve Unity of Spirit by Listening to Counsel of Older Mentors
Israel asked Rehoboam to lighten the harsh labor and heavy yoke his father, Solomon, put on them. Rehobaum consulted the elders who served Solomon. They said to be kind and give them favorable answer so they would always serve him. He rejected that advice and listened to the young men he grew up who said to make their yoke heavier. Rehoboam did not listen to the people as these events were from God to fulfill God's word spoken to Jeroboam. They had no partnership with David and looked after their own house instead. So Israel was in rebellion against the house of the David to this day (2 Chron. 10:1-19). Preserve unity of the spirit by listening to counsel of older mentors so you can rule in your sphere of influence.

Prevent Subjection to Unrighteous Leaders by Resisting Over-Confidence and Pride
Rehoboam listened to God's word and did not war against Israel. He fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin, strengthened their defenses and put commanders in them supplying them with food, shields and spears. The priests, Levites and those who set their heart on seeking God came to Judah and Jerusalem. Jeroboam rejected the priests and appointed his own priests for the high places and made goat and calf idols. After Rehoboam became established as king, he and all Israel abandoned God's law. Their unfaithfulness led to Shishak king of Egypt attacking Jerusalem and capturing the fortified cities of Judah. When Israel's leaders and Rehoboam humbled themselves, God sent deliverance instead of pouring His wrath through Shishak. They became subject to him to learn the difference between serving God and the kings of other lands. Shishak carried off the treasures of the temple and royal palace including the gold shields. Rehoboam did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking God. There was continual warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam (2 Chron. 11:1-12:16). Prevent subjection to unrighteous leaders by resisting over-confidence and pride.

Defeat Spiritual Enemies by Calling Upon God as Your Leader
Abijah king of Judah told Jeroboam he forsook God who was his leader. His priests with their trumpets sounded the battle cry against Israel. Abijah warned them not to fight against the Lord, the God of their fathers, since they would not succeed. When Judah cried out to the Lord after being attacked from the front and ambushed in the rear, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel. He delivered 500,000 dead among Israel's able men in Judah's hands. Jeroboam did not regain power during the time of Abijah (2 Chron. 13:1-22). Defeat spiritual enemies by calling upon God as your leader.

Prevent Men from Prevailing by Recognizing Your Powerlessness and God's Power
Asa did what was good and right in God's eyes. He removed the foreign altars and high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He commanded Judah to seek the Lord and obey His commands. The kingdom was at peace under him. He build up the fortified cities of Judah and put walls, towers, gates and bars around them. They sought the Lord, had rest and prospered. Asa called to the Lord to help the powerless against the mighty army of Zerah the Cushite with 300 chariots so man would not prevail against Him. They were crushed for the terror of the Lord fell upon them and plundered their villages (2 Chron. 14:1-15). Prevent men from prevailing by recognizing your powerlessness and God's power.

Be Rewarded for Your Work Being Strong and Not Giving Up

God was found by those who sought Him. He forsook those who forsook Him. Azariah reminded Asa that Israel was without the true God, priest to teach and the law but in their distress they turned and were found by Him. He told Asa to be strong and not give up since his work would be rewarded. Asa took courage, removed the detestable idols from Judah, Benjamin and towns captured in Ephraim. He repaired the altar in front of the Lord's temple. He assembled large numbers of people and they sacrificed 700 cattle, 7000 sheep and goats from the plunder they brought back. They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul. Asa deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother and burned the Asherah pole she made. He did not remove the high places, but his heart was fully committed to the Lord. He brought into the temple silver, gold and articles that he and his father dedicated (2 Chron. 15:1-19). Be rewarded for your work by being strong and not giving up.

Be Strengthened and Delivered When Fully Committed to God
Asa paid Ben-Hadad king of Aram to break his treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he would withdraw and stop building Ramah. Asa used those stones to build up Geba and Mizpah. Hanani the seer told Asa that he relied on the king of Aram and not the Lord. He reminded Asa that God delivered him from Cushites' and Libyans' mighty armies when he relied on the Lord. The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. Because Asa did a foolish thing, he had continual war. He became angry with the seer and brutally oppressed some of the people. Asa sought help only from the physicians and not the Lord when he had severe disease in his feet. He died two years later (2 Chron. 16:1-14). Be strengthened and delivered when you are fully committed to God.

Produce Fear of Lord and Financial Provision By Mobilizing Teaching Ambassadors and Spiritual Warriors
Jehoshaphat stationed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah and put garrisons in Judah and Ephraim. He walked in the ways his father David followed and did not consult the Baals. He sought the Lord and followed His commands rather than the practices of Israel. The Lord established the kingdom under Jehoshaphat's control and Judah brought great gifts so he had wealth and honor. His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord and removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah. He sent officials, certain Levites and two priests to teach the people the Book of the Law of the Lord throughout Judah. The fear of the Lord fell on all the kingdoms of the lands surrounding Judah so they did not war against Jehoshaphat. Some Philistines brought him gifts and silver as tribute and Arabs brought 7700 rams and 7700 goats. Jehoshaphat became more powerful and built forts and store cities with large supplies. He kept experienced fighting men in Jerusalem who served the king. Others were stationed in the fortified cities throughout Judah (2 Chron. 17:1-19). Produce the fear of the Lord and financial provision by mobilizing ambassadors to teach God's word and stationing spiritual warriors in every city.

Recognize your powerlessness and God's power by praying what the Holy Spirit brings to your mind regarding kingdom ministry in your particular circumstances.

How to Prepare for Kingdom Ministry (Insights in Psalms)

Picture
To prepare for kingdom work, fight bravely knowing God defeats spiritual enemies. Trust in His resources, build people up through His word, organize kingdom work in holiness and prayer, share ministry among various generations, let God choose workers without distinction between secular and sacred work, listen to God for practical details in ministry, and receive wealth and power from Him.

Fight Bravely Knowing God Defeats Spiritual Enemies

David expressed sympathy to Hanun because his father showed kindness to  him. The Ammonites told Hanun that David's intentions was to spy and overthrow the land. Hanun humiliated  David's men by shaving and cutting off their garments in the middle at the buttocks.  The Ammonites hired 32,000 chariots and charioteers while Joab deployed his best troops in Israel against Arameans. Troops helped one another if Arameans or Ammonites became too strong for one group. Joab said to be strong and fight bravely because the Lord would do what was right in His sight. The Arameans fled before Joab and David killed 7,000 charioteers and 40,000 foot soldiers. They made peace and were subject to David. The Arameans were not willing to help the Ammonites anymore. Joab took much plunder from the cities of the Ammonites, placed their king's crown on David's head and consigned their people to slave labor. They subjected the Philistines by killing Goliath's brother and other large descendants of Rapha (1 Chron. 19:1-20:8). Fight bravely knowing God does right and defeats spiritual enemies.

Trust in God's Resources and Not Your Own
Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census. Joab warned David that counting the Israelites would bring guilt on Israel. He counted 1.1 million fighting men in Israel and 470,000 in Judah. Because David's command was repulsive to Levi, Benjamin and God, He punished Israel. Gad gave David three options because of his sin: three years of famine, three months of enemies overtaking them or three days of plague. David asked to fall into God's merciful hands and not in men's. The Lord sent a plague that killed 70,000 men of Israel. David saw an angel of the Lord standing between heaven and earth with a drawn sword extended over Jerusalem. David obeyed God's word to build an altar to Him on the threshing floor of Araunah. He paid the full price to sacrifice a burnt offering that cost something (1 Chron. 21:1-30). Trust in God's resources and not your own since He fights for you.

Build People Up Through His Word
David appointed aliens living in Israel as stonecutters to prepare dressed stone for building the house of God. He provided iron, bronze and cedar logs to make nails for the doors and fittings. David prepared extensively to build the magnificent house of fame and splendor in the sight of the nations. Shedding blood in wars prevented David from building the house. He charged Solomon to build it according to God's word. Solomon was a man of peace with rest from all his enemies. David told him the Lord would be with him and have success if he kept the law. He asked God to give Solomon discretion and understanding, be strong and courageous without fear or discouragement when He put him in command over Israel. David took great pains to provide 100,000 talents of gold, 1 million talents of silver, large amount  of bronze and iron, wood and stone. He provided many workmen including stonecutters, masons, carpenters and craftsmen skilled in gold, silver, bronze and iron. David ordered all the Israelite leaders help Solomon and devote their heart and soul to seeking God (1 Chron. 22:1-19). Build people up through His word with a servant heart.

Organize Kingdom Work in Holiness and Prayer
David made 24,000 Levites supervise the work of the temple, 6,000 as officials and judges, 4,000 as gatekeepers and 4,000 to praise the Lord with musical instruments. He divided the Levites into groups corresponding to the sons of Levi: Gershonites, Kohathites and Merarites. The Levites helped Aaron's descendants in the temple service and purification of sacred things. They thanked and praised God every morning, evening and whenever burnt offerings were presented during the feasts. They carried out their responsibilities in the proper number and way prescribed for the Tent of Meeting and Holy Place (1 Chron. 23:1-32). Organize kingdom work so people pursue holiness, intercede in prayer, minister to God in praise and thanksgiving, and bless others.

Share Ministry Among Various Generations
David separated Aaron's sons into divisions for their appointed order of ministering. A larger number of leaders were found among Eleazar's descendants than Ithamar's. David and his army commanders set apart some of Asaph's sons and two others for the ministry of prophesying accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Asaph's sons prophesied under the king's supervision. Jeduthun's sons prophesied using the harp in thanking and praising God. Heman's sons were given God's promises to exalt Him. All these men were under their father's supervision with cymbals, lyres and harps for the music ministry at the house of God. They were trained and skilled in music for the Lord (1 Chron. 24:1-25:31). Share ministry among various generations in Spirit-inspired prophesy, praise and music ministry.

Let God Choose Workers Without Distinction Between Secular and Sacred Work
These divisions of the gatekeepers through their chief men had duties for ministering in the temple of God. Shemaiah's sons were leaders in their father's family because they were very capable men with the strength to do the work. Six Levites a day on the east, four a day on the north and south, two at a time at the storehouse. Their fellow Levites were in charge of treasuries of the house of God (1 Chron. 26:1-32). Let God choose workers without distinction between secular or sacred work.

Listen to God for Practical Details in Ministry
Each army division of 24,000 served one month each year. Benaiah was a mighty man among the Thirty and over the Thirty. Each of the 12 tribes had an officer over it. A list was made of officials in charge of David's property. He charged Solomon to serve God with wholehearted devotion and a willing mind for He searched every heart and understood every motive behind the thoughts. David gave Solomon plans of all the Spirit put in his mind for the construction of the temple, instructions for the divisions of the priests and Levites, work of serving in the temple, and articles to be used for service. All this was in writing because God's hand was upon David and gave him understanding in all the details of the plan. Solomon was to be strong, courageous and without fear or discouragement. The divisions of the priests and Levites along with skilled craftsmen were ready for work on the temple (1 Chron. 27:1-28:21). Listen to God for practical details in ministry with wholehearted devotion, willing mind and pure motives.

Receive Wealth and Power from Great God
People rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders who gave freely and wholeheartedly. David praised the greatness, power, glory and majesty of God. Jesus exalted Himself as head over God's kingdom and ruler over all things. Wealth, honor, strength, power and everything came from Him. They gave only what came from God's hand. The abundance for building the temple came and belonged to Him. David gave it willingly with honest intent. The next day they made sacrifices and presented burnt and drink offerings to Him. The Lord highly exalted Solomon and bestowed royal splendor while Israel obeyed and submitted to him. David died having enjoyed long life, wealth and honor (1 Chron. 29:1-30). Receive wealth and power from the great and majestic God who rules everything.

Impart a Biblical Worldview in Your Community (Insights in Psalms)

1/27/2013

How do you impart a biblical worldview in your community? It involves overcoming spiritual enemies; mobilizing prayer and worship in all stages; making God's word understandable; reading, confessing sin and praising God's word; following a biblical worldview in all areas of life; involving the body of Christ in prayer walking and praising God; and obey God's word in all areas of life.

Resist Intimidation from Spiritual Enemies
Nehemiah's enemies asked to meet with him after he rebuilt and filled the wall's gaps. Because of the great project, Nehemiah said he could not stop the work. The fifth time Sanballat sent a letter saying the Jews plotted a revolt to make Nehemiah king. They tried to frighten the workers but Nehemiah prayed for strength. One tried to get Nehemiah to hide in the temple for safety so he would be discredited by sinning. They completed the wall in 52 days and their enemies lost their confidence realizing the work was done with God's help (Neh. 6:1-19). Resist intimidation from spiritual enemies by prayer so you can rebuild your community.

Mobilize Worship and Prayer
After rebuilding the wall and putting the doors in place, the gatekeepers, singers and Levites were appointed. Nehemiah put two men of integrity who feared God in charge of Jerusalem. They opened the gates when the sun was hot. Nehemiah assembled the nobles, officials and common people for registration by families who returned to Jerusalem from captivity. The list included male descendants of Israel, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, Solomon's servants, temple servants. Some heads of families contributed to the work (Neh. 7:1-73). Mobilize worship and prayer in all stages of rebuilding your community.

Make God's Word Understandable
People listened attentively to Ezra reading God's word and praised Him from daybreak till noon. The Levites instructed people in the Law making it clear and giving the meaning so they could understand what was read. Nehemiah told them to not grieve for the joy of the Lord was their strength. They celebrated with great joy because they understood the words. They found in God's word that they should live in booths during the feast of the seventh month. They built booths and lived in them with great joy (Neh. 8:1-18).  Make God's word understandable so people obey it.

Read and Praise God's Word
Israel read from the Book of the Law for a fourth of the day and spent a fourth confessing their sin, worshiping and praising God. They blessed His glorious and exalted name who made the heavens and gave life to everything. God made a covenant with Abram and gave His descendants the land of the Canaanites. He sent miraculous signs against Pharaoh and divided the Red Sea so they could pass through. He led them with a pillar of cloud and fire. God revealed His commands to Moses and gave them bread from heaven and water from the rock to take possession of the land. He forgave and provided manna and water 40 years in the desert. He gave them kingdoms and nations including Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan. He made their sons as numerous as the stars to take possession of houses filled with good things. When they disobeyed God and killed the prophets, God handed them over to their enemies who oppressed and conquered them. He gave them deliverers when they cried out to God. God acted faithfully but they did wrong from the Assyrian captivity until then. As slaves in the land given to their forefathers, kings ate its fruit and ruled over their bodies (Neh. 9:1-37). Read, confess sin and praise God's word while remembering His faithfulness through the years.

Follow a Biblical Worldview in All Areas of Life
They put a binding agreement in writing with their leaders, Levites and priests affixing their seals. The rest of the people separated themselves from neighboring peoples to follow God's law and obey His commands. They promised not to give their daughters or sons in marriage to peoples around them. They refused to buy on the Sabbath, did not work the land every seventh year and canceled debts. They gave a third of a shekel each year for the service of the house of God including grain, burnt and sin offerings to make atonement. They assumed responsibility to bring the firstfruits of their crops, fruit trees and firstborn of their sins, cattle, herds and flocks each year to the priests ministering there. They brought a tithe of their crops to the Levites committing not to neglect the house of God (Neh. 9:38-10:39). Follow a biblical worldview in your marriage, work, relationship with God, life balance, spiritual intimacy and financial giving.

Involve Body of Christ in Prayer Walking
The leaders settled in Jerusalem and others spread throughout the land. Nehemiah listed the leaders who settled in Jerusalem from the descendants of Judah and Benjamin, priests, Levites and gatekeepers. Other Israelites along with priests and Levites settled in every town of Judah. Nehemiah listed the priests and Levites who returned with Zerubbabel and Jeshua. The Levites celebrated the dedication of the wall with songs of thanksgiving, music with instruments, singers and choirs. The priests and Levites purified themselves before purifying the people, gates and walls. Nehemiah organized two large choirs to encircle the city. The first was led by Ezra and singers followed by princes, priests with trumpets and Levites with stringed instruments. The second choir went in the opposite direction and joined the first one in the Temple courts where they offered sacrifices and praised God. They appointed men to be in charge of contributions, firstfruits and tithes for the priests and Levites. They purified the singers and gatekeepers according to David and Solomon's commands. During the days of Nehemiah, all Israel contributed daily portions for the singers, gatekeepers and other Levites (Neh. 11:1-12:47). Involve the body of Christ in prayer walking and praising God.

Obey God's Word for Purity
They discovered in God's word that no Ammonite or Moabite should be admitted to the assembly of God. Nehemiah removed Tobiah from his room in the house of God. Nehemiah asked why the house of God was neglected by not giving offerings to the Levites. He warned men against selling food on the Sabbath. He made the people take an oath to not marry foreign women. He purified the priests and Levites of everything foreign (Neh. 13:1-31). Obey God's word in all areas of life to purify yourself and others.

Pray with others that God imparts a biblical worldview in your community in all areas of life. Consider the following:
1. Overcome spiritual enemies by mobilizing prayer and worship
2. Make God's word understandable
3. Read, confess sin and praise God's word as you prayer walk with others while reading, confessing sin and praising God's word
4. Obey God's word in all areas of life

Benefits of Holiness (Insights in Law)

11/10/2012

"I've discovered I cannot fight the demons of busyness directly. I cannot continuously say "No" to this or "No" to that, unless there is something ten times more attractive to choose. Saying "No" to my lust, my greed, my needs, and the world's powers takes an enormous amount of energy. The only hope is to find something so obviously real and attractive that I can devote all my energies to saying "Yes." In effect, I don't have time to pay any attention to the distractions"  (Henri J. M. Nouwen).

Holiness affects every part of your life to help you live skillfully. Other benefits of holiness include power to defeat spiritual enemies, gain God's blessings, prevent divorce, freed from bondage to sin, live long, forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses.

Defeat Spiritual Enemies
No one with his male organ cut off or a forbidden marriage, including descendants to the tenth generation, could enter the assembly of Lord. No Ammonite or Moabite could enter assembly of Lord to the tenth generation, because they did not meet Israel with food and water when they came out of Egypt, but hired Balaam to curse them. The Lord did not listen to Balaam, but turned his curse into blessing because of His love. They could not seek their peace or have good relations with them. Do not detest an Edomite or Egyptian since they were brothers and lived as aliens in their country. The sons of the third generation could enter the assembly of the Lord. Avoid evil things as Israel’s army faced its enemies. An unclean man went outside the camp and when evening came, he bathed and removed waste. Because God walked with them to defeat their enemies, they were holy and prevented indecency so He would not turn away from them (Deut. 23:1-14). Maintain physical and spiritual holiness so God’s power can defeat your spiritual enemies.

Gain God's Blessings
Do not mistreat a slave who escaped from his master, but let him live where he wanted. No children could be a cult prostitute or bring their wages into the house of the Lord to pay a vow. Do not charge brothers interest so God could bless them in the land they would possess. Pay vows made to the Lord and not be guilty of sin. They could eat grapes from a neighbor’s vineyard, but not carry them away (Deut. 23:15-25). Pursue sexual purity, fulfill verbal promises and treat people fairly in financial matters to gain God's blessings.

Prevent Divorce
If a man found his wife displeasing and then divorced her so she married someone else, the first husband could not take her as his wife since it was sinful. A man was exempt from military duty during his first year of marriage so he could stay home and bring happiness to his wife (Deut. 24:1-5). Spend extra time with your wife in the first year to build a strong marital foundation and prevent divorce.

Freed From Bondage to Sin
Refuse an upper millstone as pledge for a debt since it took a man’s livelihood as security. If a man kidnapped an Israelite who was treated as a slave or sold, the kidnapper must die to purge away evil. Follow carefully what Levitical priests instructed concerning leprous diseases while remembering what God did to Miriam coming out of Egypt. Show patience in collecting loans from a poor neighbor by allowing him to sleep in his cloak leading to thanks for this righteous act in God’s sight. Do not take advantage of a needy Israelite or alien servant, but pay his wages daily and not be guilty of sin. Fathers did not die for their sons nor sons for their fathers since each would die for their own sin. Leave some grain during harvest and do not deprive the alien, fatherless or widow by taking their cloak as pledge to remember how God redeemed them from slavery in Egypt (Deut. 24:6-22). Be financially kind to the needy and stress personal accountability since God freed you from the bondage of sin.

Live Long

Judges decided a dispute in court acquitting the innocent and condemning the wicked in proportion to his guilt. Do not muzzle an ox while he was threshing. The wife of a deceased brother living together would marry his brother to fulfill his duty and carry on the name of his dead brother. If a wife seized the private parts of a man struggling with her husband, cut off her hand and not show pity. Have accurate and honest weights or measures to live long in the land God gave since He hated dishonesty (Deut. 25:1-16). Use accurate and fair guidelines to decide court verdicts, set wages, show considerations toward extended family and determine pricing of goods and services to live long.

Forget Bad Memories and Overcome Weaknesses

Remember what Amalek did when they attacked the Israelites who lagged behind after leaving Egypt. Amalek showed they lacked the fear of God. After the Lord gave rest from their enemies, they blotted out the memory of the Amaleks (Deut. 25:17-19). Spiritual victory and strength enables you to forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses.

Which of the following benefits of holiness are most meaning to you right now: power to defeat spiritual enemies, gain God's blessings, prevent divorce, freed from bondage to sin, live long, forget bad memories and overcome weaknesses?

How to Wait Upon God for Eternal Reward (Insights in Prophets)

10/29/2012

Picture
"Waiting for God means power to do nothing save under command. This is not lack of power to do anything. Waiting for God needs strength rather than weakness. It is power to do nothing. It is the strength that holds strength in check. It is the strength that prevents the blundering activity which is entirely false and will make true activity impossible when the definite command comes"  (G. Campbell Morgan).

It is much easier to act than wait on God. Isaiah 37-40 explains how to wait upon God for strength and eternal reward to accomplish His purpose.

Ask for Counsel
King Hezekiah put on sackcloth and his aides told Isaiah that this day of distress and disgrace was like children coming to the point of birth with no strength to deliver them. They asked Isaiah to pray for the surviving remnant with the Lord possibly rebuking Assyria's ridicule of the living God. Isaiah told Hezekiah's aides not to fear their blasphemies since the Lord would put a spirit in Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, causing him to return and die by the sword in his own country. Sennacherib said that Hezekiah's god deceived him about Jerusalem not being handed over to Assyria since they destroyed many countries without their gods delivering them (Is. 37:1-13). Ask godly people for counsel and prayer when the world, flesh and devil oppose God's will.

Pray Fervently
Hezekiah took the letter from the messengers and begged the Almighty and Creator Lord to hear, open His eyes and listen to Sennacherib's insults of the living God. Hezekiah reminded Him that the Assyrian kings destroyed many nations whose gods were fashioned by humans hands. He asked for deliverance so everyone would know that God alone was Lord. Isaiah said that because Hezekiah prayed, God spoke against Sennacherib's insults and his pride over many chariots and drying up all of Egypt's streams. God planned for him to turn fortified cities into piles of stone, shame His people and rage against Him. Hezekiah received the sign of fruit from vineyards in the third year to represent the remnant of the house of Judah, which took root below and bore fruit above because of God's power. The Lord said Sennacherib would not enter Jerusalem because God defended and saved it for His sake. When the angel of the Lord killed 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp, Sennacherib returned to Nineveh. While worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons killed him (Is. 37:14-38). Pray fervently for deliverance from evil forces that bears abundant fruit so everyone knows that God is Lord.

Journal Answered Prayer
After God listened to Hezekiah's prayer derived from his wholehearted devotion to Him, He added 15 years to his life, delivered him and defended Jerusalem from the king of Assyria. As a sign of God's promise to Hezekiah, God made the shadow go back ten steps on the stairway of Ahaz. After his illness and recovery, he asked if he must go through the gates of death and not see the Lord  in the land of the living. Hezekiah waited patiently till dawn as God broke all his bones. In anguish of soul, he asked God to come to his aid as He restored him to health. His love kept Hezekiah from the pit of destruction and put his sins behind God's back. He praised Him and told his children about God's faithfulness. Isaiah said to prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil so Hezekiah would recover (Is. 38:1-22). Journal when God answers prayer in unmistakable ways to remind your children and others about God's love, power and faithfulness.

Do Not Store Earthly Treasures
Envoys from Babylon visited Hezekiah when they heard about his illness and recovery. He showed them silver, gold, spices, fine oil and everything among his treasures. Isaiah told Hezekiah that everything would be carried off to Babylon. Some of his descendants would be taken away as eunuchs in the palace of the Babylon king. Hezekiah said God's word was good since he would have peace and security during his lifetime (Is. 39:1-8). Do not store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal.

Store Heavenly Treasures
Comfort and speak tenderly to God's people about the completion of her hard service with her sin paid for. Prepare the way as a highway for God in the wilderness so the rugged places became a plain and His glory revealed to all mankind. A voiced said all men were like grass and their glory like the flowers of the field. Only the word of God stands forever (Is. 40:1-8). Store up treasures in heaven like people and the word of God.

Glorify God's Power and Greatness
Isaiah told Judah that the Sovereign Lord came with power, His arm ruled and His reward was with Him. He tended His flock like a shepherd, carried them close to His heart and gently led those with young. God measured the waters and marked off the heavens in the hollow of His hand. He held the earth's dust in a basket and weighed the mountains on a scale. No one understood the Spirit of the Lord or instructed Him as His counselor. No one taught God knowledge, understanding or the right way. Nations were like a drop in a bucket and regarded as dust on the scales, worthless and nothing. One cannot compare God to a hand-made idol since He sat enthroned above people who were like grasshoppers. He stretched out the heavens like a canopy, reduced rulers to nothing and made judges meaningless so they withered away like chaff. God created the heavens and called each star by name because of His great power so none was missing (Is. 40:9-26). Glorify God's power, greatness and ability to shepherd so you don't trust in people.

Wait on God
An eternal and Creator God would not grow tired. No one could understand Him. He gave strength to the weary and increased the power of the weak. Even as youths grew tired and young men stumbled badly, those who hoped in God renewed their strength as they soared like eagles. They ran and walked without becoming weary and faint  (Is. 40:27-31). Wait on God for renewed strength to accomplish His purpose.

How to wait upon God for strength and eternal reward to accomplish His purpose:
1. Ask godly people for counsel and prayer when the world, flesh and devil oppose God's will
2. Pray fervently for deliverance from evil forces that bears abundant fruit so everyone knows that God is Lord
3. Journal when God answers prayer in unmistakable ways to remind your children and others about God's love, power and faithfulness
4. Do not store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal
5. Store up treasures in heaven like people and the word of God
6. Glorify God's power, greatness and ability to shepherd so you don't trust in people
