The reasons you can exalt God's word in worship are:
1. Response to martyrs' victory over the antichrist
2. Know God's judgment amplifies His grace in the heavenly temple
3. Know God's physical, ecological and celestial judgments often harden peoples' hearts
4. Clothe yourself with Jesus during natural disasters to prepare for Christ's second coming
5. Celebrate man's destruction of idolatrous, religious system
6. Celebrate God's destruction of materialistic and deceptive political and commercial system that killed believers
7. Praise God's reign and church's righteous acts as preparation for wedding feast of the Lamb
8. Praise God's word from Jesus' mouth will defeat Satan so God rules on earth

Exalt God's Word in Worship as Response to Martyrs' Victory
Seven angels completed God's wrath with seven last plagues. John saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire that were those victorious over the beast, image and number of his name. They held harps and sang the song of Moses and the Lamb about the Lord God Almighty's and King of the ages' great and marvelous deeds along with His just and true ways. Everyone should fear and bring glory to Him for He alone was holy. All nations would come and worship for His righteous acts were revealed (Rev. 15:1-4). Exalt God's word in worshiping His works and ways as response to the martyrs' victory over the antichrist.

Know God's Judgment Amplifies His Glory in the Heavenly Temple
John saw the tabernacle of Testimony open in heaven. Seven angels with their seven plagues came out of the temple dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests. One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with God's wrath. The temple was filled with smoke from His glory and power. No one could enter the temple until the seven plagues were completed (Rev. 15:5-8). Know God's judgment amplifies His glory in the heavenly temple.

Know God's Physical, Ecological and Celestial Judgments Often Harden Peoples' Hearts
The seven angels poured out seven bowls of God's wrath on the earth. The first angel sent ugly and painful sores on those with the mark of the beast who worshiped his image. The second angel turned the sea into blood so every living died in it. The third angel made the rivers and springs of water become blood because the Holy One judged truthfully and justly those who shed the blood of saints and prophets. The fourth angel gave the sun power to sear people by intense heat so they cursed God refusing to repent. The fifth angel plunged the beast's throne and kingdom into darkness so men gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed God refusing to repent what they did (Rev. 16:1-11). Know God's physical, ecological and celestial judgments often harden peoples' hearts.

Clothe Yourself with Jesus During Natural Disasters to Prepare for Christ's Second Coming
The sixth angel dried up the Euphrates River to prepare the way for the Eastern kings. John saw three evil spirits like frogs coming out of the dragon's, beast's and false prophet's mouth. They gathered kings together for the final battle of Armageddon. God told His people to stay awake and clothed so they would not be naked and shamefully exposed when He came back like a thief. The seventh angel sent flashes of lightning and a severe earthquake unlike any previously. Jerusalem split into three parts and other cities collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and filled her with His wrath. Every island and mountain were not found. Huge, 100 pound hailstones fell upon men so they cursed God (Rev. 16:12-21). Clothe yourself with Jesus during natural disasters to prepare for Christ's second coming.

Prepare for Idolatrous, Religious System to Be Destroyed by Men
One of the seven angels showed the punishment of the great prostitute that kings and inhabitants committed and intoxicated with her adulteries. John saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast covered with blasphemous names, seven heads and ten horns. She was filled with abominable things and adulteries with "Mystery, Babylon the Great" written on her forehead. She was drunk with the blood of the saints and those bearing testimony to Jesus. The beast she rode came out of the Abyss to go to his destruction. The seven heads were seven hills on which the woman sat. Five kings fell, one was and the other had not yet come. The beast was the eighth king. The ten horns had not received a kingdom but the kings and beast received authority. They gave their power and authority to the beast. All of them warred against the Lamb and His faithful followers. The Lord of lords and King of kings  overcame the kings and the beast. The woman was the great city that ruled over the kings of the earth (Rev. 17:1-18). Celebrate man's destruction of idolatrous, religious system.

Prepare for Materialistic Commercial System To Be Destroyed by God
Another angel said Babylon the Great fell and became the home for demons. All nations, kings and merchants drank her adulteries and grew rich from her excessive luxuries. A heavenly voice commanded God's people to come out and not share in her sins or plagues. Her sins piled up to heaven and He remembered her crimes. He gave her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. She boasted of being a queen and never mourning. In one day her plagues of death, mourning and famine overtook her. Kings and merchants mourned when they saw the smoke of her burning ruining her power, riches and splendor so no one bought her cargoes. God judged her for the way she treated believers, apostles and prophets. Her merchants were the world's great men. Babylon led astray every nation by her magic spell. In her was found the blood of prophets and those killed on earth (Rev. 18:1-24). Celebrate God's destruction of materialistic and deceptive political and commercial system that killed believers.

Praise God's Reign and Church's Righteous Acts to Prepare for Wedding Feast of Lamb
A great multitude shouted that salvation, glory and power belonged to God since His judgments were true and just. He condemned the great prostitute whose adulteries corrupted the earth and avenged the blood of His servants. The 24 elders and four living creatures fell down and worshiped God seated on the throne crying, "Amen, Hallelujah." A voice from the throne said for His servants to praise God. A great multitude shouted that the Lord God Almighty reigned, the Lamb's wedding had come and His bride made herself ready with clean linen representing the saints' righteous acts. The angel told John how blessed were those invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb. The testimony of Jesus was the spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:1-10). Praise God's reign and church's righteous acts to prepare for wedding feast of the Lamb.

Praise God's Word from Jesus' Mouth to Defeat Satan So God Rules on Earth
A white horse whose rider called Faithful and True judged and made war. His eyes were like blazing fire, head with many crowns and a name written that only He knew. His robe was dipped in blood and His name was the Word of God. Heaven's armies dressed in white linen followed Him riding on white horses. A sharp sword came out of His mouth to strike down the nations and rule them with an iron scepter. On His robe was written, "King of kings and Lord of lords." An angel said to gather for the great supper of God to eat the flesh of kings, mighty men and all people. The beast and earthly kings made war against the rider on the horse and His army, but they captured the beast and false prophet. They were thrown alive in the fiery lake of burning sulfur and killed the rest with the sword that came out of the rider's mouth on the horse (Rev. 19:11-21). Praise God's word from Jesus' mouth to defeat satan so God rules on earth.

Exalt God's word in worship because of the martyrs' victory over the antichrist, which used His word from Jesus' mouth to defeat Satan so God rules on earth.

Praise God's reign and church's righteous acts as preparation for wedding feast of Lamb knowing His judgment amplifies His grace in the heavenly temple.

Celebrate God's destruction of idolatrous, materialistic and deceptive religious, political and commercial system by clothing yourself with Jesus in preparation for His second coming.

How to Know Your Labor in Christ Gains Rest and Significance (Insights in NT)

Picture
In order to know your labor in Christ gains rest and significance; remember Israel birthed Jesus how rules and protects; overcome Satan's accusations by Lamb's blood, word of testimony and lose life for His sake, endure patiently and faithfully by resisting the devil and antichrist; resist deception and compromise in the great tribulation;  achieve victory in Christ through purity and faithfulness; and escape eternal torment in hell.

Remember Israel Birthed Jesus Who Rules and Protects
A pregnant woman cried out in pain just before she gave birth. A large red dragon with seven heads, ten horns and seven crown appeared as another sign in heaven. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky. The dragon stood in front of the woman to devour her child. She gave birth to a male child who would rule all the nations with an iron scepter. Her child was snatched up to God and to His throne. The woman fled in the desert and where she was protected for 1,260 days (Rev. 12:1-6). Remember Israel birthed Jesus who rules the nations and protects His people during the great tribulation.

Overcome Satan's Accusations by Lamb's Blood, Word of Testimony and Lose Life for His Sake
After Michael and his angels fought the dragon (serpent, devil, Satan) and his angels, he was hurled to earth and led the world astray. Salvation, power and kingdom of God along with the authority of His Christ came. The accuser of brothers who accused them before God day and night was hurled down. Believers overcame him by the Lamb's blood, word of their testimony and willingness to die. Being filled with fury, the devil knew his time was short and pursued the woman who gave birth to the male child. The woman was cared for in the desert for 1,260 days. The serpent spewed water like a river to overtake the woman but the earth swallowed the river. The dragon was enraged and made war against those who obeyed God's commandments and held to Jesus' testimony (Rev. 12:7-17). Overcome Satan's accusations by Lamb's blood, word of testimony and lose your life for His sake.

Endure Patiently and Faithfully By Resisting Devil and Antichrist
A beast (antichrist) came out of the sea with ten horns, seven heads and a mouth like a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power, throne and great authority. The whole world followed the beast who uttered proud words, blasphemies and exercised his authority for 42 months over every tribe, people, language and nation. Men worshiped the dragon because he gave authority to the beast who warred and conquered the saints. Those who names were not written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb worshiped the beast. Because God determined who would go into captivity or killed, saints must patiently endure with faithfulness (Rev. 13:1-10). Endure patiently and faithfully by resisting the devil and antichrist.

Resist Deception and Compromise in Great Tribulation
Another beast (false prophet) came out of the earth with two horns like a lamb who spoke like a dragon. He exercised his authority on behalf of the first beast (antichrist). He made everyone worship the antichrist whose fatal wound was healed. His miraculous signs like fire coming down from heaven deceived men. He ordered an image be set up in honor of the antichrist. He was given power so the image had breath, spoke and killed anyone who refused to worship it. He forced everyone to receive a mark on his right hand or forehead to buy or sell with the beast's number: 666 (Rev. 13:11-18). Resist deception and compromise by not taking a mark to buy or sell from the antichrist,

Achieve Victory in Christ Through Purity and Truthfulness
The Lamb stood on Mount Zion with 144,000 who had His Father's name written on their foreheads. John heard a loud sound like harpists playing their harps singing a new song before the throne, four living creatures and elders. Only the 144,000 redeemed from the earth who stayed pure with women and followed the Lamb wherever He went could learn the song. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths (Rev. 14:1-5). Achieve victory in Christ through purity and truthfulness so God hears your new song.

Escape Eternal Torment in Hell Knowing Labor in Christ Gains Rest and Significance
Another angel had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those on earth. He said to fear, worship and give the Creator God glory because the time of judgment was coming. A second angel said Babylon the Great fell, which made the nations drink the wine of her adulteries. A third angel said if anyone worshiped the beast, his image and received his mark, he would drink the cup of God's wrath. He would be tormented forever with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. This called for patient endurance for saints who obeyed God's commandments and remained faithful to Jesus. Those who died in the Lord from that point on were blessed since they rested from labor and their deeds followed them (Rev. 14:6-13). Escape eternal torment in hell knowing your labor in Christ gains rest and significance.

Realize Timeliness of God's Wrath in Final Battle of Armageddon
Someone like a son of man was seated on a white cloud with a crown of gold on his head and sharp sickle in his hand. Another angel said to take the sickle and reap because the earth's harvest was ripe. Another angel with charge of the fire called out to an angel to use its sharp sickle to gather clusters of ripe grapes from the earth's vine. It threw them into the great winepress of God's wrath. They were trampled in the winepress outside the city where blood flowed as high as horses' bridles for 180 miles (Rev. 14:14-20). Realize timeliness of God's wrath in final battle of Armageddon.

Know your labor in Christ gains rest and significance by remembering Israel birthed Jesus who rules and protects to escape eternal torment in hell, overcome Satan's accusations by the Lamb's blood, word of testimony and lose life for His sake to achieve victory in Christ though purity and faithfulness, and resist deception and compromise in the great tribulation by enduring patiently and faithfully.

Assurance of Victory for Those Who Share Gospel of Kingdom (Insights in NT)

6/13/2013

Picture
Here is the process of victory for those who share the gospel of the  kingdom in the world:
1. Recognize how Satan destroys unbelievers
2. Know that people refuse repentance even after a third of mankind killed
3. Meditate on God's word
4. Recognize God's control to protect and empower to witnesses to perform miracles and share testimonies
5. Worship God knowing earthly kingdoms will become His kingdom to reign forever

Recognize How Satan Destroys Unbelievers

The fifth angel sounded his trumpet and John saw a star fallen from the sky given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. After opening it, smoke came out like from a gigantic furnace, which darkened the sun and sky. Locusts came down and stung like scorpions for five months those without the seal of God on their foreheads. People sought death because of the agony. The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle with faces like human ones, teeth like lions and breastplates like iron whose king was the Destroyer angel (Rev. 9:1-11). Recognize how Satan destroys those without God's seal.

Know That People Still Refuse Repentance Even After Killing a Third of Mankind
Two other woes were yet to pass. The sixth angel blew his trumpet and a voice came from the horns of the golden altar before God to release the four angels and two hundred million troops. The horses' heads resembled lions' heads and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur to kill a third of mankind. The rest of mankind not killed by the plagues did not repent of the work of their hands, murders, magic arts, sexual immorality or thefts. They continued worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood that could not see, hear or walk (Rev. 9:12-21). Know that people still refuse repentance even after God allows demonic power kill a third of mankind.

Meditate on God's Word and Share Gospel of Kingdom
A mighty angel came down from heaven robed in a cloud with a rainbow above his head, face like the sun and legs like fiery pillars. He held a small scroll planting his right foot on the sea and left one on the land. John heard the voices of seven thunders, but a voice from heaven said to seal up what was said and do not write it down. The angel said the mystery of God would be accomplished as He announced to the His prophets after the seventh angel sounded his trumpet. The angel told John to eat the scroll as it would turn his stomach sour, but be sweet as honey in his mouth. He was told to prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings (Rev. 10:1-11). Meditate on God's word and share gospel of kingdom to the world.

Recognize God's Control to Protect and Empower Witnesses to Perform Miracles and Share Testimonies
John measured God's temple and the altar. He  counted the worshipers there, but not the outer court given to Gentiles. They trampled the holy city 42 months. He empowered His two witnesses to prophesy for 1,260 days in sackcloth. Two olive trees and two lampstands stood before the Lord. He protected them from harm, gave the witnesses power to stop rain while prophesying, turned the waters into blood and struck the earth with every kind of plague anytime they wanted. When they finished their testimony, the beast came up from the Abyss and killed them. Their bodies laid in Jerusalem  where their Lord was crucified. The earth celebrated by sending gifts because the two prophets tormented those on earth. Three and a half days after their death, God brought them to life and raised them to heaven in a cloud while their enemies watched. An earthquake killed 7,000 people and collapsed a tenth of the city, but the survivors gave glory to God (Rev. 11:1-14). Recognize God's control to protect and empower His witnesses to perform miracles and share testimonies.

Worship God Knowing Earthly Kingdoms Will Become His Kingdom to Reign Forever
The seventh angel sounded his trumpet and a loud heavenly voice said the kingdom of the world became the kingdom of their Lord and His Christ to reign forever. The 24 elders seated on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God giving thanks to the Lord God Almighty who is and who was because they took His great power and began to reign. The nations were angry as His wrath came to judge the dead, rewarded His servants the prophets and those who reverenced His name and destroyed those who destroyed the earth. God's temple in heaven was opened to see the ark of His covenant (Rev. 11:15-19). Worship God knowing earthly kingdoms will become His kingdom to reign forever.

Be assured of victory in sharing the gospel of the  kingdom in the world when you recognize how Satan destroys unbelievers and they refuse repentance even after a third of mankind are killed. Meditate on God's word and recognize His control to protect and empower to witnesses to perform miracles and share testimonies. Worship God knowing earthly kingdoms will become His kingdom to reign forever.

Trust God Fully for Your Ministry and Destiny (Insights in Law)

Picture
"In radio or TV terms we are receivers. If we do occasionally transmit signals, we transmit only what we have first received. Everything has been given to us from life in the womb to life in the Spirit. We are beneficiaries, totally blessed because totally loved by God. Sanctity after all is only letting the love of God loose, letting him rampage through our lives" (Cyril Brooks). In accomplishing your ministry and destiny, trust in God fully to gie you partners, guidance, power, provision, confidence and victory.

Partners
In the fortieth year after Moses defeated Sihon of Amorites and Og king of Bashan, he explained the law. Israel was supposed to go to the Amorites and Canaanites as far as Euphrates and possess land that the Lord swore to Abraham and their descendants. Moses said he was not able to bear the burden of a multitude of people by himself. God would bless him as He promised by choosing wise, discerning and experienced men from his tribes. They were appointed to be heads over him as leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties and of tens, and officers for his tribes (Deut. 1:1-15). Choose wise, discerning and experienced men who share the load of ministry.

Guidance
God charged the judges to hear cases and judge righteously without partiality between men, fellow countryman or alien. They were not to fear man since judgment was God’s. Any difficult case was brought to God to hear. He commanded all things they should do (Deut. 1:16-18). Listen to God’s impartial judgment to decide difficult issues.

Power
At Kadesh Barnea, God told them to go up and take the land without fear or discouragement. They sent out 12 spies saying it was a good land that God was giving them. The people were unwilling to go up, but rebelled against God’s command and grumbled. They said the Lord brought them out of Egypt for destruction because God hated them. People were bigger and taller, while the cities were large and fortified. The Lord said not to fear as He went before them to fight on their behalf just as He did in Egypt before their eyes. Only Caleb and Joshua trusted God because they followed the Lord fully. Everyone else acted presumptuously. As a result, the Amorites crushed them as the Lord did not listen to their prayers (Deut. 1:19-46). Trust the Lord fully who fights for you and do not fear obstacles.

Provision

The Lord commanded the people to pass through the territory of Esau’s and Lot’s sons. They must be careful not to provoke them as He gave Mt. Seir to Esau as a possession. They were to buy food and water from them. The Lord blessed them in all they did through 40 years in the wilderness not lacking anything (Deut. 2:1-7). Follow God’s direction as He provides every need.

Confidence

They passed through Seir where descendants of Esau lived. The Lord told them to not provoke the Moabites to war since God would not give them any part of their land. After they left Kadesh Barnea, 38 years passed until that generation of fighting men perished since the Lord was against them. They were not to provoke the Ammonites to war since God gave the land to the descendants of Lot. God told them to defeat Sihon the Amorite and take possession of their land by engaging in battle. He put fear upon every nation as they trembled because of them (Deut. 2:8-25). Embrace your mission in life confidently because God defeats evil powers.

Victory
Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let them pass through their land for the Lord hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate. The Lord delivered him over to them so they captured all his cities and completely destroyed everyone. Not one city was too strong for them. According to the Lord’s command, they did not encroach on any of the Ammonites’ land (Deut. 2:26-37). Enter into your unique destiny relying on God's victory, but do not covet others' ministry.

To accomplish your ministry and destiny, ask God daily to give you partners, guidance, power, provision, confidence and victory.

Effective Leadership Combines Prayer With Wisdom (Insights in Law)

6/21/2012

Picture
"Perhaps if there were more of that intense distress for souls that leads to tears, we should more frequently see the results we desire. Sometimes it may be that while we are complaining of the hardness of the hearts of those we are seeking to benefit, the hardness of our own hearts and our feeble apprehension of the solemn reality of eternal things may be the true cause of our want of success." (Hudson Taylor). Instead of complaining, pray! Effective leadership involves fervent prayer combined with practical wisdom as modeled in Num. 11-13.

Stop Complaining
When people complained of adversity in the hearing of the Lord, He kindled His anger and fire burned to consume some. People cried out to Moses who prayed and the fire died out. Foreigners had greedy desires and Israel wept, “Who will give us meat to eat?” They remembered the fish eatened free in Egypt along with cucumbers, melons, leeks, etc. They lost their appetite because they only looked at manna. People gathered, grind and beat the manna into mortar before boiling and making cakes with it. When dew fell on the camp at night, manna would fall with it. (Num. 11:1-9). God becomes angry when you complain about His provisions.

Ask God
The burden of the people was laid on Moses. He asked God to carry them in His bosom like a nurse carries a nursing infant. He did not know where to find meat for all the people. Moses asked God not to show his wretchedness if he found favor in His sight (Num. 11:10-15). Ask God to carry the burden so He can provide for those you are responsible.

Shared Leadership
The Lord said to gather 70 men from the elders of Israel who Moses knew so they could be brought to the tent of meeting with him. The Spirit would be placed on them to share the  burden of the people with Moses. Even though they were well-off in Egypt, they rejected the Lord, limited His power and unsure if His word would come true. Moses stationed elders around the tent and the Spirit was placed upon 70 of them, including Eldad and Medad who had not gone out to tent but prophesied also (Num. 11:16-30). God helps you carry the burden of responsibility through shared leadership who shepherd His people together.

Divine Provision

Wind from the Lord brought quail three feet deep. The Lord struck the people with a severe plague because they were greedy (Num. 11:31-35). God meets your needs supernaturally.

Humble Leadership

Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses questioning whether the Lord only spoke through him. Moses was more humble than any man on earth and faithful in God's household. Aaron acknowledged his sin and Miriam was shut up outside the camp for seven days (Num. 12:1-16). Top leaders must be very humble to face jealousy concerning their leadership.

Create Ownership

The Lord told Moses to send out leaders from each tribe to spy out Canaan. Moses sent spies from the wilderness of Paran at the Lord's command to Negev. The saw what the land was like, whether the people were strong or weak, few or many, good or bad land, open camps or fortifications in the cities, fat or lean land and whether trees grew in the land. They made an effort to get fruit of the land.  (Num. 13:1-22). Involving key leaders in understanding the mission field create ownership to build God’s kingdom.

Show Fruit

In the valley of Eshcol, they cut down branch of grapes, pomegranates and figs. They reported that the land certainly flowed with milk and honey and showed the fruit. People living in the land were strong with very large fortified cities, including the descendants of Anak. Amalek, Hittities, Jebusites, Amorites and Canaanites lived by the sea and by the Jordan. (Num. 13: 23-29). Showing fruit encourages people to sacrifice in building God's kingdom.

Communicate Victory
Caleb said they should take possession of the land as overcomers. Men accompanying Caleb said they were not able to go up against people stronger than them. As a result, they gave out a bad report of the spied-out land, which devoured its inhabitants. Comparing the large Nephilim made them look like grasshoppers in comparison (Num. 13:30-33). Communicating God's promises in spite of the odds encourages people to believe in His victory.

Here is a checklist for effective leaders in building God's kingdom:
1. Are you complaining about the problems? Don't!
2. Are you asking God to carry the burden?
3. Are you asking God for other leaders to share the burden with you?
4. Do you believe that God will provide supernaturally in answer to prayer?
5. Are you a humble leader?
6. Are you involving other leaders to understand the mission field so they gain ownership in the kingdom enterprise?
7. Are you showing leaders initial fruit in the ministry so they are encouraged to continue?
8. Are you communicating God's promises of victory in spite of the odds?

Gaining Victory Over the Evil One (Insights in Prophets)

1/1/2012

Picture
We often rely on human strategies to fight our battles in life. Trusting in skills or finances for success in family, church or business life will prove inadequate because of spiritual warfare. David learned how to defeat evil forces while Saul chased him before becoming king.

Obedience
David spoke this song to the Lord when He delivered him from Saul and his enemies. The Lord was his rock, fortress, stronghold and deliverer in whom he took refuge. He cried to the Lord in his distress and was saved from his enemies when death and destruction overwhelmed him. When God heard his cry for help, the earth shook and heaven trembled. He confused David's enemies who hated and were too strong for him. God brought him to a broad place because He delighted in him. The Lord rewarded him because of righteousness, blamelessness and obedience to His commands. God saves the afflicted. His way has integrity because His word is tested. He trains and gives strength for battle so enemies are silenced. He made David head of the nations to serve him. Because God delivered him from violent men and showed lovingkindness, he thanked and praised the Lord (2 Sam. 22:1-51). God's deliverance and strength depend on obedience.

Blood of the Lamb
Christ ruled righteously over men in the fear of God. Like  light in the morning, He makes an eternal covenant of salvation. His pleasure in humankind is contrasted to the worthless man thrust away like thorns (2 Sam. 23:1-7). Christ secures an eternal covenant of salvation through the blood of the Lamb so He can rule righteously.

Word of Testimony
David's mighty men include Adino the Eznite, chief of the captains, who killed 800 men at one time. Eleazar, one of the three mighty men, killed the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory (2 Sam. 23:8-10). Persistence in sharing a word of testimony defeats spiritual enemies.

Armor of God
Shammah took his stand, defended a plot of ground full of lentils and the struck the Philistines. The Lord brought about a great victory (2 Sam. 23:11-12). Putting on the full armor of God allows you to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

Not Loving Your Life
Three of the 30 chief men came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam. The three mighty men broke through the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem and gave it to David. He poured it out to the Lord not wanting to drink men's blood who jeopardized their lives (2 Sam. 23:13-17). Not loving your life even to death overcomes Satan's power.

Team of People
Abishai, chief of the 30, killed 300 with his spear. He became commander and most honored, but did not attain to the three. Benaiah killed two sons of Ariel of Moab and a lion. He killed an Egyptian by snatching and killing him with his own spear. David appointed him over his guard. Asahel was among the 30 with 37 mighty men listed (2 Sam. 23:18-39). Working with a team of people leads to spiritual victory.

You will have victory over the evil one by:
1. Obeying God's word
2. Trusting in the blood of the lamb
3. Sharing word of testimony
4. Putting on the armor of God
5. Not loving your life
6. Working with a team of people

Facing An Impossible Situation (Insights in Law)

7/20/2011

Picture
Think of the most impossible situation you ever faced. Do you think God can handle it? Have you ever seen Him work when the odds were stacked against you? The children of Israel faced an impossible situation when they were backed in a corner next to the Red Sea and Pharaoh's army fast approaching to kill them. Let's see how they responded.

Set apart the first-born of every womb in Israel since it belongs to God. Moses told people to remember how God's power allowed them to leave Egypt, the house of slavery. After entering Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey, they would eat unleavened bread for seven days and observe a feast on the seventh day. They were to tell their children about the Lord's powerful deliverance. It would serve as a sign to their hand and reminder on their forehead (Ex. 13:1-10).
Remember and share deliverance from sin through the cross of Christ with your children.

The Lord passed over and redeemed the first-born male as it belonged to Him. Say to your children that "with a powerful hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery." When Pharaoh was stubborn, the Lord killed Egypt's first-born and redeemed Israel's first-born as a sign on their hands and frontlet-bands on their foreheads in  remembering God's deliverance (Ex. 13:11-16). Share Christ's victory over sin and the evil one with your children.

God led them by way of the land of the Philistines so they wouldn't change their minds when they saw war and returned to Egypt. He led around through the wilderness to the Red Sea in martial array from Egypt. The Lord went before and led them in a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night to give them light (Ex. 13:17-22). God leads you into spiritual warfare to embrace His redemption daily.

God hardened Pharaoh's heart saying the wilderness blocked them so the Egyptians would know He is Lord. After discovering that Israel fled Egypt, Pharaoh had officers lead Egypt's chariots, including 600 select ones, to chase after them (Ex. 14:1-9). God uses peoples' hardened hearts and impossible situations to show He is Lord.

When Israel saw Pharaoh's army marching after them, they became very frightened  and cried out to the Lord. The people complained that Moses wanted them to die in the wilderness, "Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness." Moses said to not fear, but see the Lord 's salvation today. "The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent" (Ex. 14:10-14). The Lord fights when you face impossible odds.

The Lord told Moses to stop praying and tell the sons of Israel to go forward as he lifted his staff over the sea to divide it so Israel would walk on dry land. God hardened the hearts of the Egyptians to follow them so He would be honored and know that He is Lord. The angel of God and pillar of cloud moved behind them and between camp of Egypt and camp of Israel (Ex. 14:15-20). The Lord protects as you go forward against impossible odds.

When Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, the Lord turned it into dry land and waters divided. Sons of Israel went through it on dry land with the waters like a wall on both sides. The Lord brought the Egyptian army into confusion by causing their chariot wheels to swerve. They saw the Lord fighting against them (Ex. 14:21-25). The Lord uses miracles to make a way in impossible situations.

When Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, it returned to its normal state and the Lord defeated the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. He saved Israel from the Egyptians who were dead on the seashore. When Israel saw God's great power, they feared and believed in the Lord and his servant Moses (Ex. 14:26-31). God saves and gives you victory over the world, flesh and devil.

What is an impossible situation you are facing right now? Embrace the cross of Christ and let Him fight the battles. Go forward and trust Him to give you victory over the enemy, whether it's the world, flesh or devil.

Sacrifice Leads to Success (Insights in NT)

Our society rewards glitz and glamour. We live in an impatient society. Enron's "creative" accounting practices show that companies often look for short-term profits instead of long-term health and sustainability. Employees get promoted based on image and style instead of character and substance. Movie stars get publicity because of their looks and wild lifestyle, not because of serving humankind. Politicians say and do whatever it takes to get elected and often forget to deliver on their campaign promises. Pastors are tempted to tone down their messages so they don't offend major donors. Students cheat on exams so they can get good grades to enter prestigious universities.  Jesus's way of the cross cuts against the grain of our human thinking. As athletes know, the sacrifice in training and preparation leads to ultimate success. Let's consider what we can learn by Christ's example.

After the religious leaders bound and led Jesus to Pilate , he asked Christ if He was King of the Jews. By not answering his question, chief priests accused Him of many things, which amazed Pilate that Jesus made no further answer (Mark 15:1-5). When others attack your character, don't defend yourself.

Chief priests stirred up multitude to ask for release of notorious criminal, Barabbas, instead of Jesus. When Pilate asked what evil He had done realizing their actions were motivated out of evil and what He should do with Christ,  they shouted repeatedly, “Crucify Him!” Wishing to satisfy the public, Pilate released Barabbas and had Jesus scourged and delivered to be crucified (Mark 15:6-15). Politicians and even religious leaders often do focus groups to determine public opinion as a way to gain popularity instead of teaching people how to think for themselves.

The soldiers placed a crown of thorns on Jesus, mocked Him as “King of the Jews,” beat Him with a reed and led Him away to be crucified (Mark 15:16-20). Those who think outside the box by questioning the establishment that take people out of their comfort zones are often silenced and even crucified out of envy.

They crucified Christ in the third hour with two robbers on each side of Him to fulfill Scripture, “And He was numbered with transgressors.” The soldiers divided up His garments among themselves and wrote inscription of the charge against Him, “The King of the Jews.” Those passing by hurled abuse saying, “Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself, and come down from the cross!” Chief priests, scribes and those crucified with Him mocked Christ saying, “He saved others? He cannot save Himself. Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” (Mark 15:21-32).  Serve and communicate with humility focusing on the ultimate goal instead of  spectacular results, with the hope that people notice you.

In the ninth hour, Jesus cried out, “My God, My God, why has Thou forsaken Me?” Some thought He was calling for Elijah. When Jesus died, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. A centurion standing in front of Him said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” Some women who used to follow and minister to Jesus looked at Him from a distance including Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Joses and Salome, and many other women (Mark 15:33-41). Unexpected people comprehend the truth when you go against the grain of the establishment.

A prominent member of the Council, Joseph of Arimathea, gathered up courage to ask Pilate for the body of Jesus. Joseph wrapped Jesus in a linen cloth, laid Him in a tomb hewn out of rock and rolled a stone against the entrance. The two Mary’s looked on to see where He was laid (Mark 15:42-47). Your example inspires others to risk their reputation to fulfill vital roles in making the world a better place.

Human and logical thinking oppose God's plan of the cross. We reason that being politically correct by not talking about Christ and His way of the cross will make people accept us so we can exert greater influence. It's just the reverse. Sacrifice and not easy solutions lead to success. Focusing on long-term strategies instead of short-term, superficial gains will make our cities better places to live, both individually and corporately. As you will see in Mark 16, the cross is the only way to ultimate victory.

Answer these questions:
1. When others attack your character, do you remain silent instead of defending yourself?
2. Do you help people think for themselves instead of being concerned about popularity?
3. Do you take people out of their comfort zones thinking of their long-term welfare?

4. Do you focus on the ultimate goal instead of spectacular results hoping people will notice you?
5. Are unexpected people comprehending and following your example?
Ask God to develop your character so you can answer, yes, to these questions.

Thanksgiving to God is Secret Weapon of Victory

We underestimate the impact we have on others for good or bad. We go through our day oblivious to how and what we communicate to others. People are desperate for an encouraging word. In contrast, criticism and complaining negatively affect a family, church or family. Recent studies show that encouragement is a key to attracting people to the service professions like nursing, teaching and even the ministry.

The heartache and discouragement of peoples' sin drove the Psalmist to weeping (Psalm 6:8). God confronts the evil we face and rewards integrity and righteousness (Psalm 7:8-9). God loves anything that encourages or builds up. He also wants to remove the negative.

Someday, everything will be made right. God allowed Christ to rule over created things in the universe so everything would ultimately submit to Him (Psalm 8:6-9). We share in God’s work to defeat our enemies, including the world, flesh and devil.

As we give thanks to the Lord with all our heart, He will defeat our enemies. At the same time, God will support and protect us (Psalm 9:1-6).

People can encourage us, but they cannot remove sin from our lives. God hears our weeping and establishes us according to our righteousness and integrity. Our responsibility is to forsake wickedness and cling to Christ with a pure heart. We do this by heartily giving thanks to the Lord. Our chief weapon to defeat the world, flesh and devil is thanking Him for the victory.

What sin is God revealing in your heart as you allow Him to search it? Let Christ rule in your heart right now and thank Him for His victory over the world, flesh and devil.

My goal is to ignite the hearts of people by explaining God's word in the Law, Prophets, Psalms and New Testament consecutively, much like the experience of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:32,44). I have been a missionary in Lincoln, NE, for 13 years with Christ For the City Int. and Sync with God.

Sync with God is a highly versatile web app that hosts on-demand, virtual small groups. Sync is designed to connect young seekers in the faith and scripturally-trained mentors, even globally. It offers a safe, engaging interface for Millennials/Gen. Z and is readily adaptable to technical advances well into the future.
